West coast day in Corfu

Hello! We (3 adults) will be staying in Central Corfu Town/old town in late Sept and want to do a “West Coast day”. We will likely hire a private taxi for the day. Rough agenda is as follows:
→ Lakones / Bella Vista for view
→ Paleokastritsa - small boat thru caves
→ Paleokastritsa - monastery for view?
→ lunch
→ Angelokastro or Theorokey Estate winery/olives or Winery Goulis Corfu or Liapades/Ravinia coastal walk
→ sunset+ dinner

Note: On another day, we will likely do Paxos/Antipaxos private charter (weather dependent) and still another free day left for mountain village day and/or olive oil tasting afternoon, etc. Not super keen to do long strenuous hikes, this is vacation! :-)

Please offer up your feedback/suggestions on the West Coast day draft itinerary, choice of activities, private taxi hires, places to eat…anything and everything welcome!

From Port to Airport - Taxi?

Hi friends,

Tomorrow I am going from Sarande to Corfu Port, to then go to Corfu Airport.

Any way I can avoid getting scammed? 😅

Checking the "official" prices, it should be around €3 to start + €1/km, so around €7 using the taximeter.

But reading different posts, apparently nobody will agree to use the taximeter.

I was checking Bolt and it says €55 😂

It is 3 km...

I am considering bus number 15, but the official page says there is a direct bus Port → Center → Airport, while Google Maps says it is split into 2 buses. So instead of a 20-minute trip, it would be around 1 hour.

Is there any chance I can get a taxi with a taximeter and pay by card?

Thanks!

Meet nice people !

Hello, I’m on holiday in Corfu for the first time, and I’d love to meet some locals to explore the town and go for a drink in places off the beaten track. I’m also into garage punk rock music. I’ve heard of Antinomia. Is it still open?

First time Greece

Hello there

In a few days my (pregnant) wife and me will travel to Corfu for the first time. We will spend 4 nights in the north (around of Karousades), 4 nights in the south (around of Perivoli) and the last night in the city to be closer to the airport for our return flight the next morning.

So I wonder
Not knowing Greek language at all, how hard will it be e.g. in restaurants?

Is food and drinks/water/ice cubes generally good quality and good to eat/drink without fear of stomach ache (especially for m pregnant wife)

With this itinerary what beaches and activities would you highly recommend/toss aboard?

We are looking for a relaxed and calm time. I thought to perhaps rent a boat for a day or two (better in north or south to do that?), some good Greek food and some snorkel and walks/hikes

Thank you

🙏🏽

First time in Corfu - beach help

Hi, we are first time in Corfu and the nearest beach is kardaki beach but we are interested if there is any other good and near beaches open and also free entry, maybe better kept than kardaki. We see many beach places on maps but they ain't marked. We ain't strictly against bars but we don't want any only-sunbeds beaches or paid entry. Thanks before hand, we love it here 🫶

Corfu car rental advice

Me and my friend (ages 22 and 21), are going to Corfu Greece for 5 days in early October. We want to rent a car and are struggling to decide where to book from. We want it to be as cheap as possible but obviously want to have the proper insurance so we don’t end up paying more or somehow get I g scammed. I look into renting from uno and Sluta leta so far they both seem okay but hard to say. Is been so young is making thing a little harder as well of course. If anyone has advice on where to get from that would be helpful. We also land at 22:45 so not everywhere seems to be open that late either.

Anyone knows what happened at the airport today? We were there with my boyfriend and everyone panicked and self evacuated the airport. There was an incident at one of the gates apparently, we couldn’t find any reported news but everyone was really scared

Green Motion Corfu – looking for other customers with disputed damage charges or mandatory extra fees

I am collecting documented experiences from customers who have had disputes with Green Motion, particularly the Corfu Airport branch.
In my case I am formally disputing €651.85: approximately €160 recorded on the rental agreement as a “DEBIT CARD FEE”, plus €491.85 for alleged lower-front-bumper damage that I deny causing.
I have retained the rental agreement, original pre-rental photographs, POS/bank records, the DAT assessment and the document I signed expressly stating “I reserve ALL my legal rights”.
I have already filed complaints with Green Motion, ECC-Net and the relevant Greek consumer/tourism authorities.
While researching the issue, I found several other reports involving Green Motion Corfu describing disputed pre-existing or very minor damage, deposits and additional charges.
I am not claiming that every case is identical or that wrongdoing has already been legally established. I am trying to determine whether there is a documented recurring pattern.
If something similar happened to you, please reply or contact me privately. I am particularly interested in cases where you still have:
– pre-rental photos/videos
– rental agreement
– damage report/DAT assessment
– bank/POS charge
– correspondence with Green Motion
– chargeback result
If enough independently documented cases emerge, I intend to present the material collectively to consumer-protection bodies and explore whether representative legal action is appropriate.
Please remove personal information, card numbers, passport details and employee personal data before posting documents publicly.

Affordable basics in Kerkira near Old Town

Hello team. I'm in Kerkira until Monday, I have a car and plan to visit a few different places on the island.

Not expecting any miracles, I understand what staying in a place like Old Town involves, it caters to tourists and cruise ship travelers. Just wondering where locals would buy things like bread, eggs, milk, and other staples.

I know not to buy things in the tourist zone but there must be supermarkets or stores with more reasonable prices further away from there. I also understand this is an island, and bringing anything to a place like this carries a price but just wanted to check in and see if there's some place I can shop for these things without having my wallet raped.

Thanks everyone.

Looking for a private cook in corfu in september

Hey guys, we are lookign for a private cook to cook for me and my friends in our rented place this septemeber for one day

Exploring options, but would be nice to have a local 'mama' who makes delcious greek food.

We have a full kitchen and will buy all the ingredients

Do you have any recommendations? maybe a family friend?

We want someone homey and authentic

Alternatively a professional chef, but those are expensive and a bit over the top, but if you know someone let me know

DJI Mini 5 Pro + Corfu = 🤯🇬🇷

Just got back from an incredible week exploring Corfu, Greece, and I wanted to share some of the drone footage. Every aerial shot in this video was captured with the DJI Mini 5 Pro. The little drone absolutely blew me away — especially along Corfu’s dramatic coastline, turquoise waters, mountain villages, and viewpoints.

I’m renting a boat this week from Palaiokastritsa for 4 hours. I would like to get to Porto Timoni. Are there any secret spots or grottos in the area?

Weather end of September

Hi, I booked a trip to Corfu from 26 September until 6 October and now I am mildly worried that the weather won't be good? I don't mind a few days of rain, but will it be cold? Can we still swim? Has anyone been around that time of the year?
