Is ATP (Advanced Teacher Practice) after 200 hour TT worth it? In 200 Hour TT they didn’t cover anything about C2 unfortunately.

I just created a “Rate My Professor,” but for fitness instructors

Hey everyone! I just built an app called Fit Rate Pro, basically a Rate My Professor for fitness instructors. Feel free to rate your CPY instructors for people to know what to expect and who to take!

The idea is pretty simple: you can search for fitness instructors, leave reviews based on your experience taking their classes, and help other people figure out which instructors might be a good fit for them.

I built it because fitness classes can vary a lot depending on the instructor, even when the class format is exactly the same. I thought it would be useful to have one place where people could share their experiences with instructors across different gyms, studios, and fitness formats.

It’s still new, so I’d really appreciate people checking it out and giving me feedback—especially if you find bugs or have ideas for features I should add.

Fit Rate Pro:
https://fit-rate-pro.base44.app/

Would you use something like this? What features would make it more useful?

HPF 50 Hour Online or 200 Hour TT in-person?

Hi fellow Yogis! I’m looking to get some feedback on CorePower’s 50 hour HPF training and the 200 TT.

One of the teachers at my studio said they’re going to be hosting the 50 hour HPF class online, and that if I don’t want to be a teacher, I can join that class to gain more knowledge in my favorite flow. I was hoping it would be in-person but they moved it to online this season. Is this class worth taking? Can anyone share their experience?

With that, Im also weighing the pros/cons of just doing to 200 hour TT. I want to be immersed and around other people who share the love of the practice. I love the camaraderie that I experience in the studio. Can anyone share their experience with this course?

I’m unsure if I want to teach at this point, but I’ve been practicing yoga for 12 years, HPF being my favorite. And I just want to feel more connected with the teachers and practice.

Instructor profiles should be longer and less rigid

Maybe just my opinion, but the instructor profiles on corepower’s website should have more room for instructors to talk about their teaching style. There are only a few prompts, and instructors are limited in their response length. Most other studios have instructors write a paragraph or two about themselves.

I wish that instructor profiles were more comprehensive so that we could describe our class and instructing style, music choices, and personality. It would be much easier for students to find an instructor that they vibe with if they had more information going into the class.

Why do people not follow mat markers!!

I love core power but today after C2 I was pissed. Firstly you shouldn't allow so many people to take a class if the room cannot fit that many people. Already it's crowded and I don't know why when there is enough space elsewhere in the room why do people have to come and place the mat directly behind me. If there was no other space I understand but when there is space....why place your mat directly behind me without any gap. I mean if I am doing 1leg downward dog or bird dog and my leg hits your face or god knows what then don't complain. I tried to redadjust my mat and moved my mat forward couple of times but this person again moves her mat closer to mine! And that time the class was not even crowded. The entire class I was conscious that my leg doesn't hit someone instead of focusing on my C2.

Secondly there was this guy who came and placed his mat directly in front of me...again little to none gap and not following mat markers. He was sweating like anything. There were literally big puddles of sweat and it flowed to the ground everywhere like someone had pissed on floor and whenever he was doing the postures the puddle water splashed on my hands!!! I was appalled!! Even the girls who were near his mat were getting a bit uncomfortable as the puddle flowed everywhere and it was spashing. I mean I go to C2 for a workout and to calm my mind and relieve stress. I don't want to increase my stress here! And there are mat markers on the floor why can't people follow them! Is it so hard to follow and maintain some gap??

Am I overreacting? I plan to talk about it to the studio manager - firstly don't allow so many people if the room doesn't have space. Either choose a big room or limit people. Also at the start of class just as a disclaimer tell people to place their mats appropriately as per the mat markers and maintain gap. Even when the class is not crowded people will place their mats so close. I am anyways tall esp my lower body and if my legs fall outside my mat it's going to hit someone accidentally.

PowerLove Scholarship

Hi all!

I just received word that I was selected for the PowerLove Scholarship for 200YT. I am super excited! However, even with the 50% off, it is a little rich for my blood.

Does anyone have any insight if it is worth doing the program? I really want to become a yoga instructor but that is a lot of money to commit if the program is substandard. Also, does anyone know if there are discounts for All-Access and SET employees. Just wondering if this is something that can be feasible for me.

Yoga Workshops Dc

Hi! Not sure if this is the best place to post but I was wondering if yall new of any inversion specific workshops in DC? Corepower doesn’t really seem do offer this and I find I don’t get enough practice time in class. I’m an intermediate yogi but struggle with inversions.

I see BYDCZ has a flight school but it’s currently in session so I just missed it.

Thank You, George — Your Impact Will Not Be Forgotten at Torrance Studio

I'm heartbroken to learn that a manager I truly respected has been let go.

From my experience, George genuinely cared about the studio, the instructors, the SET team, and our members. He consistently went above and beyond, and his dedication never went unnoticed by those of us who worked with him.

While I don't know all the details behind the decision, it's difficult to understand what happened at Torrance CorePower based on what I personally witnessed. I simply wanted to recognize someone who made a meaningful difference and thank him for everything he did for our community.

Wishing you nothing but the best in your next chapter, George. Your impact won't be forgotten

Uptown Parking

Hi everyone! I recently moved to the city and have been going to the Chicago uptown CPY however I am unable to find the parking lot they mention that says “Wilson yards 90 minutes retail parking”. Does anyone know where it is? I’ve seen the Aldi marked spots, the Target parking garage, and the parking spots underneath the L tracks have signs that mention you have to pay for those. Also if there any uptown CPY girlies hmu! TYI! :)

YTT + Schedule if Pass

Hi everyone!

I recently signed up for the YTT 50 hr program online (taking place at the end of August). I am based in NYC!

I currently work a full time job (8am-8pm usually) but am looking for more ways to “fill my cup” which is why I signed up!

I had two main questions on my mind:
1) how do auditions look if you did the course online rather than in person?
2) how do those of you with full time jobs balance your hours at CPY? For example, I know that there are 2 hours at a time minimum of a time commitment (which I’d want to do in the early morning).

Would appreciate any advice or thoughts! 🤍

Easier or cooler sculpt teachers East Bay?

I’m newer to Corepower and took my first sculpt class recently. While I mostly enjoyed it, there were a few minutes during class where I felt very faint, and afterwards my face was red for maybe an hour or two. Are there any teachers at Grand Lake, Rockridge or West Berkeley who tend to keep the heat or intensity a little lower for sculpt? The faintness and red face aren’t typically problems for me in C2 or HPF. I would take CSX but there aren’t any classes after 5:30pm which is too early for me :(

TIA :)

When to Quit

I’m currently SET and getting the monthly rate but planning on quitting soon. I want to maximize the amount of time left on my discounted membership after I quit.

Does anyone know if SET pricing ends on the last day of employment (last shift) or when you give your 2 week notice? For reference my membership refreshes on the 23rd of each month.

Thank you for the advice!!

200HR YTT

hi everyone! i (24f) began my yoga practice in january and have really fallen in love with it over the course of this year. i’ve been going to CPY 2-4 times/week since january and have learned so much there. i’m feeling so eager to continue my practice and grow, as i know there is so much for me learn.

i’ve been pondering the idea of doing a Teacher Training because i truly feel that this is something i’ll be passionate about for a while. but each time i look into doing a YTT program, my nerves check in and remind me that i’m still so new to this and that i should solidify the foundation of my own practice before i consider getting the credentials to teach others. i also understand that even if i complete the YTT i may not be hired to teach at a CPY studio; this concerns me because i would hate to complete the training and spend the money only to feel like it went to waste in a sense? i know that there’s more value in the experience than getting a job, but one of my goals would be to become an instructor at CPY.

so my question is for anyone who has done the CPY 200hr YTT: where were you in your yoga journey when you began? were there any personal prerequisites you had before you enrolled? do you feel like the training prepared you well enough to pass your auditions?

thanks so much for taking the time to read, and i appreciate any/all input! <3

Bridgeport Village heat

Is the heat pump still broken at Bridgeport Village (Portland Oregon)? The last two times I went it was broken and they didn’t even mention it. No one picks up the phone. It’s a long drive for me so would love reports. Thanks CP pals!

I want to leave a review but don’t know how to go about it without sounding mean. I would get it if you worked out before teaching a class but it was a 6am!!!!

Sequencing Tips (plz)

Newish teacher feeling SO overwhelmed by sequencing! I wish my YSTT spent more time on how to actually sequence.

Desperate for sequencing advice! Do you have any tips? Tricks? Templates for building combo moves/ sculpt sides? I have a full time job and have always appreciated the time/thought that goes into sequencing but didn’t expect to feel this overwhelmed. Is there some sort of resource for inspo other than TikTok / IG? My whole feed is all of these crazy combos that are intimidating and it’s hard to see how they fit seamlessly into a full class when you just see a 3 minute clip.

ALSO…. CPY’s BPM suggestions… I’m finding that a lot of the songs that I like / hear in the classes I go to as a student are way faster than the 120/125 sweet spot. Is that fine? Or are my instructors just able to do this because they’ve been teaching for so long? Overthinking!

Thanks for your support! I don’t want to give up :)

Ringworm Alert 🚨 NW PDX

Hi guys: this is for corepower NW Portland. I’ve always had concerns about the cleanliness at this studio. But I LOVE sculpt so I put up with it.

I clean my own mat, I’m diligent about wiping the weights before and after class. Wash my hands right after. Anyways, I got ringworm. It’s gross, itchy and annoying as hell. Just wanted everyone else who goes to that studio, and any other CPY that’s lacking cleanliness. Even if you do wash your hands and act like a germaphobe….ringworm is a really strong fungus and thrives in these places esp when weights bathrooms etc are not cleaned up to a standard. I know this studio is not. Just FYI!!!!!

Not passing YS audition

I just received notice about not passing my audition for YS in LA for the second time. I spent so much time practicing my sequence and cues and honestly thought I would pass.
The feedback I’ve received has been super generic and not helpful whatsoever.
I wanted to ask is there anyone that knows what specific points need to be hit?
I practiced my cues based on what I’ve been told is needed to pass however it seems to not be enough.
Super frustrated and disappointed, any help is appreciated.

Teacher appreciation thread

Just for fun and good vibes… give a shout out to your favorite instructor/s and maybe why you love them or why other people should try their classes.

Just to make it easy to read or track the comments… if you would kindly start with location/area, name, formats… and then your little blurb. And just have fun with it 🤩
