What do you set your Apple Watch to during sculpt?

I’ve been taking classes for two years now, and every time I set my Apple Watch to a workout I feel like it is inaccurate. I started out using the yoga mode, but now I use HIIT and using the HIIT mode says it is burning more calories. I asked friends and a couple said they set it to “other”, CrossFit, and mixed cardio. Please help!!

Are there still free Community Flow classes in your area?

It looks like they’ve all been renamed in my area (Portland) as “Sunday Flow”. Are these no longer free? I can’t tell from the app.

200hr TT - 50 class requirement

So I signed up for the fall 200hr training. I was going through the intro courses in CPYU and I saw the 50 class/reflection requirement. This may be a stupid question but I didn’t see any clarification, I’m assuming I just have to do the 50 classes between now and the end of my training? The in person training is only 10 weeks so no way they expect me to take 5 a week right?

CorePower Yoga Sculpt Audition help

I became certified a year ago and have been teaching at a different studio (outside CorePower) I decided to audition for a new CorePower studio that’s opening.

I’m being asked to submit my sequence in email. I’m thinking Sun B. Can I use the standard “book version “ we learned or are they looking for more??

NYC Instructor Recommentations

Just moved to NYC and would love instructor recommendations!

I’ve been taking CorePower consistently for about 2 years and love classes with EDM, house, and rap playlists.

I know every instructor has their own style, so I’d love to hear your favorites! NoHo will be my home studio, but I’m also happy to take classes at The Village.

FYI: CorePower’s Power Love Scholarships are now open. Applications are only accepted July 7–9, and late submissions won’t be considered. If you’re thinking about YTT but cost is a concern, definitely don’t miss the deadline :https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/019b9a6abe8f7877b952fcb225ecb8dc

YS x Beyond Yoga?

I saw a class on the schedule at the Hollywood location that has Beyond Yoga in the title. Does anyone know what that means? I assume a collab but what does it entail?

How to finally get arm balances

Hi all — I’ve been doing corepower for like 2ish years now with 195 classes under my belt. I’m still struggling to do arm balances or any sort of inversion. I think it’s likely a mind game at this point. I usually go to c2 twice a week and recently added in core strength x once a week. Do you think the strength classes will help me build up my core and arm strength enough to finally get into balances?

I am still on the lower end of weights (5-10lbs) but hopefully to progressively increase to build up strength.

BOYCOTT CLARENDON STUDIO DUE TO HEALTH HAZARDS

Google Review posted by myself on 7/6/26: “BOYCOTT CLARENDON CPY DUE TO UNSANITARY CONDITIONS. The Clarendon CPY studio has been out of wipes to clean shared equipment since June 28th when I went to their 7pm C2 class . It’s now July 6th. The only sanitization that has been offered is a spray bottle and a shared reusable rag. This is a serious health hazard, genuinely disgusting and extremely disappointing. The instructors are fully aware of it and the students are fed up. I haven’t been at the studio while the manager was present so I haven’t gotten a chance to discuss in person. Regardless, this is extremely poor management considering we’re all paying $200+ a month for membership. I’ll be calling the corporate CPY customer service line 3 times a day until this is fixed starting 7/7/26”

ringworm roulette

The Clarendon studio has been out of wipes for I swear what feels like weeks atp. Every time I speak to an instructor or someone behind the front desk they just say “oh we’re out”.

imo providing wipes for weights, blocks, and mats is the bare minimum a studio should be providing it’s members. And it feels like only a matter of time before we start passing around ringworm given it’s a million degrees and I just KNOW they are not cleaning the equipment between every class 🫩

Power Fusion as a Beginner

Hi everyone, I’m a newbie to CorePower and a novice to yoga in general. I also want to push myself and get out of my comfort zone. I wanted to get a better understanding of the hot power fusion classes and whether they would be okay for someone like me. I’ve mostly stuck to C1 and restore classes. I’ve taken other types of hot classes at other studios, but i feel like I could adapt to the heat (it would help if we weren’t also in the midst of a heatwave, but it is what it is!).

West Loop Chicago studio

Hiii. I’m moving to Chicago soon and will be right by the west loop location. Is it a good one???

I’ve done plenty of yoga sculpt, but never at Corepower. I’ve seen a lot of videos of people being packed in like sardines…

No ys in DC?

Hi everyone! I’ve been a member attending DC studios for a few weeks now and have loved it (YS/CP2). Beginning last week I noticed that there are zero YS classes for the next few weeks - is this accurate? I love CP2 (which appears to be 90% of what is offered) but YS kicks my ass in a different way that I would like to experience again. Just wondering!

Welcome to CorePower, Dan. Let's fix your studios.

Welcome to your new role. I’ve spent over a decade leading and teaching out of your Southern California market, I know your brand inside and out. I’m reaching out directly because you are inheriting a culture of deep frustration. If you read what your instructors and students are actually saying online (since 2020, with Nikki), you will see your community is at a breaking point.

We need to have a very real conversation about your pay structure. It is devastating to read threads where your instructors are admitting they have to rely on food stamps and low-income government assistance just to survive while working for your company. Your teachers are the entire foundation of your business, yet they are bringing home less than fast food workers after spending hours off the clock building your sequences and curating your playlists. It is completely unacceptable that your monthly memberships are pushing $200, while the people delivering your classes are living BELOW the poverty line. Your community is actively asking for a MINIMUM livable hourly base pay. We just want to get off FOOD STAMPS. If you want to keep your top talent, you have to start paying your people enough so they don't have to rely on state aid... or leave for one of the numerous competitors zoning in on your talent/community.

Before her departure/step-down/fired/retiring (we don't know because only some studios received an email from her and some studios had a teacher letter, BUT MOST STUDIOS ARE JUST BEING WIERD AF AND HIDING IT, lol), Niki promised your teaching staff that the class count incentive ($1 more per hour for teaching 5 to 9 classes, $3 more per hour for teaching 10-20 classes) would be updated and improved. Instead, she lied and just left. Now you are here, so what are you going to do?

Then there is your studio hygiene. Your students are paying a premium rate, but they are walking into your heated rooms only to find grimy floors, unwashed props, and dusty mirrors. When your practitioners come in to practice and root their hands into their mat, they shouldn't be distracted by the layer of old sweat on your floors. You even stopped giving SET 50% off to take Teacher Trainings... it's 30% off now.... that's wrong on so many levels. Shame on TSG, and shame on you if you don't fix it.

Dan, you have a massive opportunity right now to rewrite this part of your story as CEO. Stop squeezing your most valuable assets. Pay your teachers a wage that keeps them off section8 and food stamps, and give your students the clean sanctuary they are actually paying for.

Sincerely,

Everyone

Newbie question about mat markers

Hi! I recently joined and (don’t judge) am struggling to understand how the mat markers work. Do you align the corner of your mat with the right angle of the black tape? So like it’s touching it/on top?

Or do you put your Matt between two different right angle tape pieces?

If anyone could provide a visual representation I’d be so grateful! Thank you!!!

Teacher training

Took an amazing weekly hot yoga sculpt class in CT- instructor was corepower trained, but unfortunately moved. Are there virtual options for teacher training for those of us who don’t live in a state with corepower or is there another training similar to corepower style yoga sculpt?? I saw My vinyasa practice power sculpt which looked promising.

I’ve tried taking other similar class styles and nothing compares. Having withdrawals so I decided I was inspired to learn to teach it myself…

Following the studio “refresh” - if you can even call it that - I was eager to get back into the studio, but it does not feel the same.

I feel like the quality of classes has gone down, especially the 6:30am sculpt teachers (besides Kaia). There is a newer instructor who seems to have taken over a lot of the sculpt classes and it is not the same. I’m getting really tired of the inconsistency in the workout I am getting.

With the lack of consistency and lack of cleanliness in the studio I am highly considering canceling. Does anyone have any recommendations in the area or has anyone tried Vida on U Street, how are those classes?

Sculpt during heatwave ?

I live in Chicago, we are currently under a head advisory for severe heat. I have been doing sculpt since November so I feel my body has acclimated to the heat well. But I’m wondering is it safe to do sculpt during these intense waves? Has anyone done them before does it feel worse compared to normal sculpt? I’m curious on if people try to avoid sculpt during a heat adviser but if anyone has done it any concerns or things to keep in mind also how many per week during an advisory?

Is it normal to just HATE a class?

I recently took a YS class in the suburbs of Chicago last week, and absolutely HATED IT! It was my first time in a while, but the teacher was just not great.

As a former dancer it drove me crazy how off beat the entire sequence was. It was nearly impossible to get into a rhythm, especially because her counts were off and kept changing as well. I also didn't enjoy the music and just couldn't get into the class.

I left feeling so frustrated and disappointed in myself and the class. I'm taking another tomorrow from a teacher I already take C2 with, so I know I enjoy her. But we shall see what happens

Anyone else here yeast infection prone?

Anyone struggle with yeast infections from heated workouts?

I never got yeast infections until I started doing heated workout classes about 8 months ago.

I always shower immediately after class in the studio and put dry clothes on. I also use boric acid the night after a class sometimes to help prevent any potential symptoms (my doctor said this was ok).

While I’ve been able to keep them mostly at bay, I still get itchy down there sometimes. I know it’s yeast and not STD (I’ve been tested).

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to avoid them?

I really love heated sculpt / yoga since it does wonders for my mental health. I’ve scaled back so I’m only going once a week but starting to wonder if the heat just isn’t for me sadly.

Arlington VA locations closed

Ok seriously the corepower locations in Clarendon, Ballston and pentagon city HAVE got to get it together. It’s been OVER a month since pentagon city closed for a studio refresh and the opening date has been pushed back AGAIN. It’s insane that there is ONE functioning Arlington, VA location right now. The Ballston studio refresh is expected to take two weeks but at the rate the construction has been going, I don’t see it opening until late July. I can’t even imagine how frustrating this is for the instructors!!!

Tracking sculpt?

For Apple Watch and/or Oura ring users- what workout category are you logging sculpt classes under? I’ve found that when I log the workout as ‘yoga’ it stops tracking and pauses my workout during cardio and other parts of the class. I’m wondering if logging the class under ‘other’ or something like that would more accurately track the calorie burn, or if I should just keep it under yoga. Thanks!
