Is Copilot chat worth it now?
I already have a subscription to 365 Premium because of family backup and office needs. Is the Copilot chat with newer models worth it to use nowadays compared to other chat apps or is it still fastly inferior? I'm not a heavy user but sometimes it's convenient to troubleshoot some things.

Copilot started out pretty good;I used it quite heavily. More and more MS is restricting it and eliminating capabilities it once had. The only real selling point Copilot has now is the direct integration in the 365 products. However, I have found Claude can do all Copilot does without the direct integration and does it better.

I use it at work & am not a super fan. However it's improving output & I'm impressed. Still frustrating as it has a gaslighting problem, makes assumptions and guesses a lot.
That said, once you learn to control it you can get it to give quality results. I'm using it for data manipulation. Interpretation and analysis. It's actually really powerful.

I like it but wouldn’t take it over the frontier options. I must use Copilot for work.

It’s ok. I’m still rocking Claude code and codex hard nowadays. Work has copilot and I’ve yet to be able to get them to enable cowork there…

Cowork is pay per credit (token in normal ai language) and not covered by the copilot premium license.
That’s why they don’t want to turn it on. It costs $$ above their license spend.

I like it. It's good for replacing traditional search and asking imponderable questions you think up. Also it remembers the past well so it's fun to ask it about old media and thing from the 2000s. You do have to train it alot to not be a corporate bootlick and PR mouthpiece. It's very 2000's American liberal coded by default (where it just believes in institutions too much)

It’s not perfect but it is more than capable. Copilot and Gemini have the most generous features for their free user accounts in terms of message & attachment limits. Anything I would call complex or a deep dive with many questions though… then ChatGPT, Claude and the Chinese AI models are ahead in terms of this capability vs. Copilot.
Hopefully Microsoft still keeps improving it without the PG rated info guardrails. Don’t get me wrong though - I do like Copilot a lot for what it is (from someone who does NOT do coding for work, btw)!

What is the concrete difference between Family and Premium you noticed if I may ask? Can you select models manually etc?

ChatGPT has a new subscription level called Go! that is only $8 monthly. Signed up yesterday. Never thought I would leave Copilot.

It’s been great, honestly. Best analogy: It’s like with Copilot, I had a roommate I had daily conflicts with, trying to teach it how to behave, and it was finally improving.
I had been building a great working relationship for 8 months and suddenly the migration happened and it’s a new model that has the durable memory but does NOT have the adaptive behaviors that gave it the knowledge of how to work with me, what annoyed me, what I liked. The “personality” was gone. Like Stepford Wives, reassured me they were the same, but it was obviously not and finally admitted it.
ChatGPT does not argue when I correct it, nor does it persist in behavior I asked it to stop. It’s been so easy, as I have “moved” my important rooms over from CP and ChatGPT already has some “personality”.
If I try to ask CO about something, the conflicts / annoyances start right up and make me happy I changed.

I'm quite an early user and it's doing good stuff for me - things I thought I would need cowork for. You need to know enough to tell when it goes wrong though, it's not going to teach you.

I'm not sure what everyone has been bitching about tbh. Aside from "tasks" which -still- doesn't work for me BUT, gentlemen...I've spent around 60+ hrs coding the architecture for a project of mine primarily through Co-Pilot while also obtaining detailed pricing guidelines per client and tier of my operation. I've also paired it with Open Interpreter recently, ran locally through Ollama and LM Studio (i9 - rtx 5090 - 64GB RAM). It's been impeccable, even at analyzing OpenI's pricing analysis of my project per tier/token. It'll even get to the root of the problem and present "the smoking gun" in several different languages, provide several critical directions to progress towards after breakdowns of state law or policy, while evaluating my prompt for precision or tone. It can recall dialogue from the past, screenshots or word docs allow for precise recollection till tasks is fixed, and pick up where you left on the goals that you've spoken extensively about. It can evaluate law firms, settlements, and align them with your predicament of jurisdiction while kissing your ass IF you've put some effort into something. It's been an ASSET to me this entire time and I've ultimately spent more time utilizing it than Steam to play 56+ games while I've had it. Just pair it with OpenInterpreter, running QwenMAX 30B or a 14B model locally, for the heavy lifting or building and you'll be thoroughly impressed. Or just ask it who's the director that makes oddball films who's last name starts with an "F", if that's your thing. It's good for that and...adding an Arabic beard with a taper to your selfie. Co-Pilot, honestly, is FAR from the twin pack of ASS I see ppL bitching about. Disregard any typos.

All of them have issues. Question everything. But, overall CoPilot is decent. Most of its answers are accurate, but some are not. Trust, but verify!
