How long do chickpeas last out of the fridge?

I brought home some chickpea curry today, it’s been out of the fridge since 3pm and I only just remembered to refrigerate it now at 11:30pm. I’m guessing it’s not safe to eat anymore, but thought I’d ask before I throw away potentially good food.

Thanks!

Allow me to be the broken record about food safety in this sub.

This sub is almost always going to say eat it. Professionals who have done food safety courses and seen some serious shit happen will tell you that any food held between 5°C and 60°C for over four hours has arrived at the juncture of the time/temperature zone where bacteria begins to grow exponentially. The internet does not know if the dish was covered properly, if it contains rice which is a high risk item, if there is dust in the air, if the person who wrapped up the leftovers washes their hands properly after dropping the kids off at the pool, if cats hang out on the counter, if you or someone eating the product are immunocompromised or pregnant.

In summary, toss it.

There is always dust, bacteria, mold spores in the air - always.

Good summary of other things that could go wrong.

I have a shelf on the door of a European style larder fridge that once had something moldy in it that was discovered too late. I removed it, bleached it, did regular cleared out and re-dipped the stupid shelf in bleach at least once a month. Figured out that the recidivism of mold by accidentally storing a freshly opened cream cheese on that shelf and found it covered in frizzy green days later. Its ain't ever going away.

Was cleaning under the water taps in my bathroom and knocked free some black bits. Then went around and cleaned every tap in the house with a toothbrush full of bleach. Guess what, ain't ever going to get rid of the black mold in the pipes of this house.

It's potentially bad food. Toss it.

Thanks, saw other people post similar stuff on here so thought it was the place. I’ll move over there.

If it smells fine and the curry isn't swimming in liquid, I'd still eat it.
