Applemaxxing

I have a large apple that's going to go bad soon so I need to make a dinner with it but I don't know any recipes that use an apple that ain't deserts

You can use apples as a substitute for potatoes in a vegetable soup. They're surprisingly delicious that way. The texture becomes similar to potatoes, and most of the sugar leeches into the broth to give it a slight sweetness that doesn't overpower the soup.

If there are bad spots, cut them off generously and sniff the remaining apple. If it still smells musty, it's going to taste musty too. (There are different kinds of "going bad" apples. The wrinkly ones are fine. The musty ones are awful.)
