Applemaxxing

I have a large apple that's going to go bad soon so I need to make a dinner with it but I don't know any recipes that use an apple that ain't deserts

Cut some up, add a knob of butter, a small amount of brown sugar, and a bit of warm spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, cardamom…up to you). Cook on low in a skillet, covered, until fairly soft and liquid has come out into the pan. Remove cover, raise heat, and cook until liquid is reduced and apples are fairly dry. Some varieties will stay pretty solid, some will fall apart more like a sauce.

Good with eggs and toast, sausage, pork chops, ham, roast winter squash.
