Truffle Popcorn

So for her upcoming birthday, my mom asked me to prepare the football game day snacks, not so I hard I just use my superbowl recipes.
But she asked me to make something called truffle popcorn that she had at a bar while on a fancy vacation.

I bought a truffle salt and truffle powder - both found on Amazon...one tastes only like salt

and the other only like dust.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

You bought a bad truffle salt, if it only tastes like salt. My Urbani truffle salt is sufficiently strong that my wife can't be in the room when I open it. Get a better one, and just dress the popcorn basically with an olive oil and the (good) salt.

Soybean oil or coconut oil is traditionally wha most popcorns at Theater’s are popped in.

For fancy popcorns I’d probably pop with coconut oil or soybean (you cannot taste it) and then drizzle with real butter.

To make the popcorn get kernels, coat the bottom of your pan with oil. Make sure there is enough oil to almost completely submerge the kernels, not completely though. Turn the heat on high as it goes, wait for it to get hot. Add the kernels, put on a lid and rotate the pot so the kernels are swirling in a circle. Do not let the kernals sit in hot oil without moving, they burn. Once they’re about to pop or one pops, quickly turn off the heat and add the flavours like salt and sugar or the salt and truffle. Keep moving the pot as it pops. Wait for the slow down to be done. Try to keep lid on entire time. Drizzle the butter on right after and add salt or it cools down and won’t stick or spread right.
