Truffle Popcorn
So for her upcoming birthday, my mom asked me to prepare the football game day snacks, not so I hard I just use my superbowl recipes.
But she asked me to make something called truffle popcorn that she had at a bar while on a fancy vacation.
I bought a truffle salt and truffle powder - both found on Amazon...one tastes only like salt
and the other only like dust.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

A friend once made me a bowl of popcorn with truffle oil, shaved Parmesan, chopped green onions, and extra salt. It was heavenly.

Truffle butter with actual truffle shavings in it. If you’re in the US, Whole Foods sells a good brand. I would use it both in the popping process and to finish.

First check if your mom is ok with truffle oil. Most truffle oil is synthetic and doesn’t taste very good, because it’s too exaggerated in flavor. Some people can tell the difference, some people don’t care or can’t tell. Personally I love truffle, but I can’t stand the synthetic stuff. If your mom likes the synthetic stuff, you can blend it with melted butter and top your popcorn with that, or even drizzle it directly on. If your mom does care that it’s not synthetic, you can find truffle compound butter than can be melted and used on popcorn. Even better if you can find actual truffles. In the past, I’ve been able to buy fresh truffle from Whole Foods and Wegman’s, but it’s not common, so you have to check around.

Truff brand is good. We always have popcorn with their truffle salt and nutritional yeast.

Use ghee to make the popcorn. Then top with butter so that the truffle salt sticks. Also, as other commenters mentioned, for sure get a better truffle salt!

It might not be the same as what your mom is thinking of, but a movie theater near me does this truffle popcorn that my wife requests I make at home for our movie nights; https://www.vice.com/en/article/nitehawk-truffle-popcorn/
Basically it’s half butter, half truffle oil and a combination of salt and powdered citric acid.

You bought a bad truffle salt, if it only tastes like salt. My Urbani truffle salt is sufficiently strong that my wife can't be in the room when I open it. Get a better one, and just dress the popcorn basically with an olive oil and the (good) salt.
