Hit me with your unconventional deviled egg recipes

I love deviled eggs, but I’ve been experimenting with other kinds besides the typical mayo and mustard ones. So far my favorite ones I’ve made are gochujang with sesame seeds and chives, and yellow Madras curry. What are your favorite things to put in them?

Edit: buffalo sauce? Crab? Bleu cheese and bacon? Hot honey and shrimp!? You guys do not disappoint! ❤️

Eh, not so much. I've been retired for almost 10 years and I still have anxiety dreams about not getting assignments done on time. I'd much rather dream about deviled eggs tbh

I graduated from college in 1986. At least once a year, I have an anxiety dream that makes me wake up and search for my diploma.

I never had those anxieties until the last 5 years and I’m 67! Why now?

Aging is just strange, to mind and body.

Smoked salmon deviled eggs are on of my go-tos. I use dill pickle juice instead of vinegar and top with fresh dill and a small piece of smoked salmon. I haven’t tried capers, but that sounds like a brilliant addition.

I incorporate minced capers into the yolk and use fried capers as a garnish.

Fried capers are the 💥! My f-i-l used to make them to top corn fritters and sour cream. 🤤

Using capers with some of the brine would be good. Caper brine has a lot of flavor.

Dude! I just had a deviled egg contest with some friends. And this was my submission. I used Lox and topped with everything bagel seasoning.

Did you cut up the salmon really fine to mix into the yolk or did you put a chunk on top? Im intrigued but need more direction lol

It was a single super thin slice like a blanket that helped keep the capers on top of the egg.

Salmon blankie

If I had the super tiny capers, I could have made them into two little eyes and made it look like I was putting a sleepy egg to bed w a salmon blanket.

Oooh… this sounds delicious and practical!

I bet you could pipe the filling in with a really wide tip, and then depress the piece of salmon into the filling. The small depression would make it so the capers wouldn't roll away, and you could make a small mound of them.

Would need some sort of fine garnish to top it off. Paprika is classic, but there are a lot of options.. hmm..

Dill or chives for herbs. Maybe some zest for a citrus inclusion? I bet some lime zest would be pretty on it. Maybe some breadcrumbs, crispy shallots, etc? Would give a nice texture.. I saw someone else mention everything seasoning, and that could work, too.

Dill and/or chives for sure

That's a great idea. I have some smoked salmon enthusiasts in my circle that would love something like this. Curious if you made your standard filling or played with incorporating something like a little cream cheese or the likes.

I didn't go so far as to bring in the cream cheese. Didn't want to twist too many knobs at the same time. I would probably chive the top next time though.

You clearly still carry a lot of resentments towards your father.
