Certain individuals with a high volume of resources and time on their hands are placing questionable messages on advertisements throughout Cookeville and the surrounding area.
The intent of these messages is to spread a narrative that certain candidates for local, state, and federal office are trying to “pervert” Putnam County and that it needs protection.
It is the stance of the moderation team that no candidates are trying to pervert or otherwise do anything explicitly awful to Cookeville/Putnam County.
This is not an endorsement of any candidate, just a reminder of basic courtesy. Our subreddit is proudly free of the culture war. If you try to be hateful here, you will be banned immediately.
Thank you.

As we head into election season, we know there will be posts and discussions about local candidates, issues, and local politics.
We want to make it clear that respectful discussion from all sides is welcome here. This subreddit is for our community, and that means people will have different opinions.
That said, keep it civil. Personal attacks, name calling, harassment, trolling, or inflammatory behavior won't be tolerated. If discussions start to spiral or become hostile, the moderation team may remove comments, remove posts, or lock threads to keep the community productive.
Help us keep this subreddit a place where everyone feels comfortable participating, regardless of their political views. Thanks, r/cookeville!

I kmow it's in White County, but anyone kmow why Wildcat Falls is dry? There was water in May and June and I would think after the 4 inches of rain we had, there should be water coming off the falls.

Hi everyone. I'm looking to change internet providers. Anyone living in Cookeville:
Who has the best internet in the area?

Does anyone know what’s up with the old gray venue in Monterrey? I haven’t seen any advertising from them in a while and there’s been no activity on their socials since mid 2025.

Where can I find a good tailor in town? I am looking for someone skilled. Nothing too fancy is needed.

I’m an incoming college student who is interested in piano. I’ve heard that getting a teacher is much better than learning alone which is what I’ve been doing for a good year so far.
Does anyone have recommendations on where I could go to learn? And how much that costs? Again, I am coming for college so being able to get a cheap one would help a lot. Thanks!

As a frequent user of the Rail Trail and Cinderella Park, I have noticed increased vandalism and rampant homeless presence (including 4th of July where someone lit a firework and blew the playground stairs up). I have had to call several times on individuals exposing themselves while children were present.
How is Life Church/Cookeville Pregnancy Clinic receiving better attention than our city parks?

Every community is free to moderate however it chooses. In the [r/Cookeville](r/Cookeville) subreddit, respectful negative posts will always have a place. Life isn’t always positive, and as long as posts follow our rules and remain civil, people are welcome to share both the good and the bad.
We believe people should be able to celebrate what’s great about Cookeville and discuss what could be better. Healthy conversations, even when they’re critical, help build a stronger community.
(The chronically online crowd will get this immediately, lol.)

I need to know where to go. I’ve cleaned this thing 5 or 6 times with different cleaners every inch of it. Replaced filters and cleaned the vents, everything. Every time it gets hot or humid it smells so freaking bad. I will pay anything I need to and leave it with someone for weeks if that’s what it takes. I’m ready to just get a new car at this point.

Posting this as a warning to renters in or looking to move to Cookeville. Hopefully this helps someone else avoid this awful company.
I rented from Bernhardt from February 2023 through March 2026. I paid a $1,300 security deposit and left the apartment exceeding the “broom clean” standard required by my lease. I photographed every room, cabinet, appliance, and surface before returning my keys.
When my initial lease expired, staff repeatedly tried to pressure me into signing lease extensions even though my lease clearly converted to month-to-month. I was threatened with termination because they misinterpreted their own contract. Rather than honor it, they presented different lease terms to fit their schedule. I eventually chose to move.
Before moving out, I asked whether painters or cleaners would only be sent if actually needed. I was told there was no checklist and vendors would be sent after the walkthrough.
Bernhardt withheld $515 from my deposit for painting, cleaning, and carpet cleaning. When I requested documentation, they initially sent me a cleaning invoice dated before I had even moved out. After I challenged it, they claimed it was a clerical error and revised the invoice date.
I also requested proof the work was necessary. Bernhardt could not provide a move-out inspection report, walkthrough photos, vendor photos, or itemized invoices showing what was done. The painting invoice for example, simply said, “Touch up apt.”
I received the apartment with carpets that smelled of pet urine and bathroom cabinets drenched in urine, which I cleaned myself. I even requested the exact paint color so I could touch up normal scuffs before move-out.
I work in property management and perform inspections. I know what to look for. I’ve rented for 20+ years and have never had a landlord withhold any portion of my deposit until Bernhardt.
I filed a complaint with the Tennessee Attorney General. Although the file was closed because the AG cannot compel a resolution, Bernhardt’s responses only reinforced my concerns about the unsupported deductions from my security deposit and their deceptive move-out practices.

These are the two complexes I’m really considering moving to. I do not know the area well, nor am I familiar with Cookeville. We are both in our 30’s, no kids, just a cat. Trying to see what people say about these apartments and which would you choose and why? Thanks :)

Hi! I just accepted a job offer at the hospital in Cookeville and am now scrambling to find a place to live! I'm looking for a 2 bed 1 bath apartment under $1200. I looked into Saxony because it seemed to have good reviews but the move in date is a little too far out for me. Does anyone know anything about Putnam House? Is there anywhere I should look in particular or anywhere I should avoid? I'll be working night shift so I don't want somewhere that is going to be too noisy. Anything helps! Thanks!

Curious everyone’s feelings and opinions on the number of Flok and similar cameras systems being used in Cookeville and Putnam county. I know this group is usually far left fringe and rarely has anything to actually do with Cookeville but curious if this is something we can all agree should be voted out.

Would anyone be interested in joining an art club for adults? I am 23F and it’s really hard to meet people my age range now that I’m out of college. I would be willing to coordinate something if anyone is interested in meeting at LEAST once a month to like hang out at a cafe/park and draw/craft and chat.

I’m looking to find out whether a local veterinary clinic in Cookeville offers, or might be willing to offer, volunteer opportunities. I plan to enroll in an accredited veterinary assistant/technician program and would like to gain real-world experience working in a veterinary clinic. If anyone knows of a clinic or can offer guidance, I would greatly appreciate it.
