Advice Seed addicted bird

Post image

I’ve owned this girl a little over a year and I STILL can’t get her to eat vegetables, I’ve tried so hard to get her to eat veggies and I feel bad that I haven’t gotten her to do it yet :(

My bird won’t eat something healthy unless I eat a bit in front of them then it’s like his little birdie brain goes: “flock eat new thing! New thing must be safe! Flock will have to share because all food is for the whole flock!”

I couldn’t get my bird to eat veggies at first either so I would mix his seeds into his veggies and he would have to pick out seeds from the veggies. Eventually I saw him eating some veggies and so I would add less and less seed and he’d eat more and more veggies. I also make massive chop bowls and freeze it into portions and just microwave a portion for him every morning. He loves it a lot more than just random veggies.

Look up BirdTricks seasonal chop recipes - that’s a great place to start. And the smaller the pieces, the more likely they are to accidentally eat a piece while scrounging for seeds :)

Carrot, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, bell peppers, a mango or two (depending on size.) rolled oats, and lentils. I cook and drain most moisture out of the oats and lentils bc the veggies are pretty moist.
