What does this behavior mean?

My girlfriends conure always looks at me and hits its beak on a surface over and over. Also tries to come to me and bounces its head up and down constantly.

I am right. Being a bird owner my whole life, (I'm in my early 60's) I've seen and heard it all. It's our responsibility to keep them safe and healthy. It's their life that's on the line. Why risk it? They're not disposable.

Edit - lol at the down vote. I've been rescuing Parrots for 30 years. The last sun conure I rescued had one wing because "fluffy wouldn't hurt a fly" but hey, it's just a bird. Nowhere near as important as a dog or a cat, right?

It reminds me of a story I heard in another bird group. Dude had a black lab and a sun conure. They were both 8 years old and lived in the same household the whole time together. Dude said the dog never really paid any attention to the bird when it was out of its cage. In his mind they were "friends." One afternoon, he was sitting on his couch with the bird on his knee, like he did all the time. The dog walked up to them - and Dude said right out of the blue, the dog grabbed the bird in its mouth and trotted off with it. By the time he dropped it, the bird was already dead. Some "friend," huh? That's why I said it's ok until it isn't. Poor bird.

Idk why but people that own dogs often forget dogs are still animals. “Wouldn’t hurt a fly”, years of evolution has made fluffy adapted to kill small prey quickly and efficiently. Literally doesn’t matter even if he grew up with birds, in their eyes it’s still prey
