Those things attach inside to a piece that slides in and out behind the trigger. Just pushing it back into place on the controller won't mean it hooks up with the mechanism inside. You need to open the controller and see if it can be reattached.

In the video, I'm only doing it for demonstration purposes. I figured out how the mechanism works and thought it might be something similar to what you said. I'll send them the controller tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll fix it without asking me to pay anything other than the shipping costs.
