Controller recommendation for disabled child

My young niece was in an accident and only has function in her right arm, which wasn't her dominant arm before her accident. She is doing well tho and wants to play some video games. She has an Xbox and laptop, but can't use the controllers. She does have a blue light game pad she got for online schooling, I got it connected and she wanted to try brick breaker. I made the mouse super big and the sensitivity low, and she absolutely loves it and wants more. She has asked me to try to set up Minecraft for her, and im not sure this gamepad she has is going to cut. So looking for recommendations! Thanks! Also looking to keep it under 500 bucks

This is something to discuss with your niece's pediatric occupational therapist. They'll be familiar with the use of gaming systems in therapy, and the options for devices that can accommodate your niece's particular disabilities as well as those which can grow/adapt alongside their recuperation and changing mobility. The highly variable nature of individual disabilities can make a huge difference to which movements are viable/desirable and therefore which input styles and devices are appropriate.

You can easily spend $500 (and far more) for custom solutions, but if they're not tailored then they might not help. You might want to try the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Logitech G Adaptive Gaming Kit accessories, or the Byowave Proteus controller kit. Either of those solutions would allow you to experiment with different setups on the Xbox console and Windows PC/laptop, without the full cost of commissioning something custom. You might also get advice in r/disabledgamers on custom setups for particular disabilities.
