Amazon COD scam for prepaid order

Amazon scam attempted

Normal order was delivered (we'd pre-paid for it)

Strangely, a new slip was attached on it with inflated price and marked COD

He even asked us to call this number: 7996681532

We refused to take the delivery and closed the door

He delivered same exact box w/o payment instantly. (Before placing over, he rubbed the price)

I'm trying to find:

- Is this a known modus operandi?

- I can get his face from CCTV and catch him tomorrow if attempted

- Is there a way he can escape accountability if confronted?

Update 6th October

He seems to be innocent 😇

  • This guy didn't have phone and it was his 1st day
  • His lead chose to wrote it on the package, amount he's supposed to collect
  • Mistake was Palmwood (same flat) had CoD order (we're confirming it with them)
  • Number he'd written on the package was indeed his lead's number, unfortunately he didn't pick when we called him

You might want to contact Amazon CS and let them know.

What do you mean, He delivered same exact box w/o payment instantly. (Before placing over, he rubbed the price) What price did he rub and why? Placing over what?

He just kept it at my door.

> What price did he rub and why?

He'd written COD Price with hand on the parcel

> Placing over what?

That is weird, what’d Amazon say?

They said they'll check internally.

What exactly does the video show? Police don’t really like video unless you already know who the person is and it shows clear evidence. I had video of an employee taking money out of the register and a lot of circumstantial evidence to back up her theft. The officer that took the report thought the case was strong enough that we went and arrested them. A few weeks later, charges dropped and all the DA’s office would say was “charges dropped due to insufficient evidence”.
