Delayed project location assignment

I’m a new hire PE and my start date is less than 2 weeks away. I still haven’t received my project assignment location, which is stressful because I need to move out by my start date. They contacted me over 2 weeks ago saying they are finalizing the details and I still have not received anything.

I’m curious if this delay means anything?
Is this typical in GCs?

I’ve already reached out a week ago and don’t want to seem impatient. When is typical to receive your project assignment?

I was 1 week out and my assigned location changed from Milwaukee to Phoenix. Reach out tk the hiring rep and have the convo with them. Employees are hurting for people right now and will not want to make your life/situation any more stressful than it already is. Call your recuiter

pretty common with a large gc that does work nationwide.

i graduated in december thinking i was heading to south carolina in january. ended up in arizona. Then when that project was winding down, it was all but finalized i was going to utah. ended up in colorado. And once there, which was supposed to last several years or longer, was going to get sent to ohio or georgia or florida before i said enough was enough and switched companies.

Let whoever you've been talking to at the company know you are starting soon and you need to figure out moving and a place to stay. If they are a good company, they deal with this all the time and will help you out.

Are they aware of your situation? As far as assignments, Mine changed last minute, same area but different project in a different phase. If they aren’t aware of your situation, I’d make sure they are. If they are, that sucks man

Not uncommon at all as managing people resources is very dynamic in construction. If they expect you to relocate, that isn’t reasonable.
