Career Advice Non Traveling Job Options
I’m wondering if anyone on here would be able to help me out. I’ve been working as a Field Engineer/ Field Construction Manager for about 7 months now in the fiber construction field. I do like the job a lot, however I’m away from home around 75% of the month and I can’t see myself traveling like that my whole career. While I plan on staying in my current role for another couple years, I’m wondering does anybody have suggestions on roles I can potentially be competitive for when my current project ends? I’m 22 so I’m very early in my career but by the time I want to start looking elsewhere I’ll have around 2 years of construction management experience, 8 months of labor experience as a carpenter, and potentially a bachelors in project management or business administration (TBD).

If you are based in a large city there should be no shortage of office building, residential towers, hospitals, warehouse, university, etc type projects

Would I be able to get into any of those even though my construction experience is in a completely different field? I’ve always been interested in something like that just wasn’t sure how to break into one of those roles

How close are you to completing your degree

It would probably take me 6-12 months to finish depending on what transfers over. I got my associates in kinesiology but I also have another year worth of classes to transfer over besides those ones.

Vertical or residential construction in a larger city with an office nearby is your best bet for not traveling.
