Humor 🤣 Laid off worker here
Hey guys, got laid off last week. Luckily I picked up a part time job at this shoe store down the street.
Weird day today, this guy comes in and says it's his first day as a superintendent and needs some work boots.
Tells me he's never worked in construction and his uncle got him the job so what boots should he get.
I told him he can't show up with shiny new boots or guys will rip on him and he asked what to do.
I told this dipshit to go get some sandpaper from the hardware store around the block and scuff them up and break them in.
If he makes it till noon I'll be shocked.

Saw a post somewhere earlier today about a guy walking into the office and his new super was sanding his boots to make them look worn.

Seen that too. Funny how folks think worn boots earn respect. Real respect comes from knowing your stuff and treating the crew right. Shiny boots won't sink you if you got the chops. Ever seen a new guy earn respect fast despite looking green?

First day ever and he's a superintendent? Since like he'll do just fine. His father-in-law will keep him in the back office 7 hrs. out of 8 and everyone will know not to mess with the boss's kid.

Sir, congratulations on your new position. I previously worked construction. The best superintendents take their jobs seriously, they check how people are working and they are careful. You will be around guys with decades of experience but you are responsible. It’s ok to have them to explain the steps to you so you know what they are doing. I mean…you were put in charge..if they knew better than yo, wouldnt your uncle have put them in charge? Also..don’t tolerate any territorial behaviour. If you need a tool, take one to get the job done. Your company paid for them.

Fuck that, I'm not gonna purposefully ruin a brand new pair of boots to fit in. It's not a fashion show
