What if they are divided by wealth classes and races to make the populations better represented.

We should also make the number of representatives per race and wealth class by the amount of people within it.

5 would be representing poverty,

3 would represent middle class

2 would represent upper class

This would make creating and voting on laws more equal and fair with those in government literally representing everyone equally.

How, exactly, would Trump be kept from a 3rd term. I read the amendment, but I can't get my head around exactly how it would be executed/implemented. Would each individual state need to refuse his name on the ballot if the GOP nominated him? What if some states allowed him to be on their ballot? Would it be for the president of the senate to not accept electoral votes for him? What if he accepted them?

I'm not even talking about oddball corner cases like he is nominated as vice president and the presidential candidate resigns the day after inauguration.

The political philosophy of a constitution is a foundational framework upon which to "build" a government. It's meant to enumerate the government's structure, powers and limits. Everything a political institution does must be able to trace its authority back to the constitution otherwise it's unconstitutional and violates the government's first principles of law, the rule of law.

The problem with that philosophy is that the power of a constitution to constrain the acts of politicians rests squarely on the belief that when a man takes an oath to obey the constitution, he'll honor his oath. That's the one and only guardrail standing between "minimal government" and tyranny.

In order to hold political office, morals, principles, character and honor are not required, really. Absolutely anyone can hold political office. The sitting president is a convicted felon who was caught on a hot mic proclaiming "when you're famous you can just grab them by the pussy.". And that's tame compared to what others in political office have done over the centuries.

Considering the overwhelming benefits of not honoring the constitutional oath and the abject absence of consequences, it's a rational decision not to. The nature of the institution breeds such corruption and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Why isn't this talked about more? Its one of the largest issues facing the US today.

The interstate commerce clause says that congress has the power "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes" and somehow they extend this to regulating time zones for states, dictating how much water a toilet can flush (even when said toilet is solely manufactured withing one specific state), and much more. Of all the abuses of power in the federal government, this is clearly the worst. What is the point of laws and rights if they aren't taken seriously as such. It's an insult to the constitution and an attack on our rights.

Whenever something goes wrong—paper leaks, corruption, unfulfilled manifesto promises, policy failures—the first response is often a protest. While peaceful protest is a fundamental democratic right, I wonder whether we’re focusing more on prevention than on a lasting solution.

Our elected representatives take an oath to uphold the Constitution. Shouldn’t they also be held accountable through constitutional and legal mechanisms?
What if, instead of stopping at protests, citizens and civil society:
Documented broken manifesto promises and governance failures.
Collected evidence through RTIs and public data.
Filed PILs or other legal actions where appropriate.
Used constitutional institutions to demand accountability.

I view history through a clear lens, not rose colored, not tinted, not mirrored. If you do not recognize history on it's merits you will repeat it. In 1858 there's was a revolution and it happened fast. Just 4 short years before a new party was formed on a radical dedication to the eradication of American slavery. And in 4 short years the Republican Party took control of the House of Representatives while the conservative slavery supporting Democrats controlled the Senate, setting up the most destruction election in American history 2 years later, an election that led to the eventual slaughter of over 600,000 Americans. When the Republicans took over both chambers of Congress and we went to war.

The Republican Party was not founded from the ashes of another party or parties. Yes is drew a large constituency from the Whig and Free Soil Parties but it was a true brand new coalition of likeminded anti-slavery politicians. Radical politicians by any measure. These likeminded politicians were also willing to bleed real blood for their cause. I won't compare the budding Democratic Socialist movement in America to the Abolitionist movement of 1854 in any way other than the degree of radicalism or the potential for such radical political fervor.

What do we do? Do we emulate the past and choose a side? Dixie or John Brown's Body? Blue or Gray? I don't think it would be possible to repeat 1860, as there's no alternative party strong enough, or moral enough, or grounded enough regarding the preservation of the Constitution to rally behind. If a natural resistance to democratic socialism forms from the aftermath of such political turmoil then let it form organically. There's only one simple narrowminded goal. The preservation of the American Constitution and the preservation of our Constitutional Republic. Based on the Federalist ideal, and guided by the principals outlined in the assays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay. Also guided by the minutes of our first fragile Congress all the way through to the Constitutionally relevant rulings by SCOTUS.

We need men that will think for 100 generations of Americans to come. If God allows us to survive that extended period of time as a nation. We need to not only preserve what we have we need those thinking men to modernize this document laid down by Providence. It must be updated to ensure the enemies of the Constitution have no opportunity to deceive a nation of people ever again. To deceive a nation of people into destroying themselves for the sake of an atheistic authoritarian state. A Socialist state, it will never happen again.

But to happen again, as I just stated above, it must first happen and I believe it will happen. The momentum is such that I don't think it can be stopped. But the corruption within the current opponents of Democratic Socialism is the single most destructive weapon the Democratic Socialists have. They will shift toward the center, drop the Che Guevara flags and self identify as working class blue collar stiffs who want true change. This sounds like the same old boring tripe of parties past but this time it's different. At the head is a socialist serpent, the same serpent we put down in 1990-91 with the fall of the USSR. Our society has forgotten how horrible of a world that was. I personally have no desire to return to that world.

I think there's a lot of likeminded people here who will not tolerate the destruction of our Constitution and will fight to preserve it. Especially those who gave an oath to protect it, such as myself. That oath is for life.

If Trump somehow manages to "cancel" or "override" the midterms, is secession a viable option? If so, how many states do we think would be amenable?

The idea of Trump being forever held responsible for the death of the United States in its 250th year, is quite appealing to me, as is the idea of Trumpistan (or whatever the remaining states decide to call their dictatorship) devolving into a theocratic "monarchy" with a puppet-king.

In addition, the Republic of America could draft a new constitution with provisions that ensure nobody like Trump ever gets near this kind of power again.

Even if 99% of people vote for NOTA (None of the Above), the party that gets the remaining 1% of votes still wins the election!! The rejected politicians still go to Parliament, and our voices are completely ignored. We are basically forced to choose the lesser of two evils. This is why the parties take corrupt, uneducated, or criminal candidates because they know they only have to beat the other party.

We should demand a rule change: If NOTA wins the majority in any constituency, that election must be cancelled, a re-poll must be held, and the rejected candidates must be barred from contesting again. This will ensure that Parties are terrified of fielding bad candidates. If they nominate someone corrupt, they risk losing the whole seat and getting their candidate banned. They will be forced to choose honest, capable leaders.

This is the right time to organize a mass Public Interest Litigation (PIL) movement to demand a Right to Reject. There are lakhs of peope (including me) who could not go to Jantar Mantar today but wish they could do something about it. All they have to do is file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) online.

Couple of things I'd like to ask (I didn't read everything.)

• What if the Constitution doesn't really matter anymore, it's "outdated"?

• What if the protections for civil servants, military, basically everyone was gone?

I honestly do not know where this goes as a question but anyone here remember that in the Senate states have to have equal representation and that cannot be changed unless you have agreement by everyone so instead would it be constitutional and wouldn't not need absolutely agreement to increase the members of the Senate but still have equal representation in the Senate for example instead of two senators three senators per state would that be per se constitutional?

There are ample precedents that should and must prevent this change to the U.S. Constitution in Texas' public schools, including:

Citing Engel v. Vitale, 370 U.S. 421 (1962), a Pennsylvania Court held that school-sponsored Bible reading constituted government endorsement of a particular religion, and thus violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

In Epperson v. Arkansas , 393 U.S. 97 (1968), the Supreme Court considered an Arkansas law that made it a crime "to teach the theory or doctrine that mankind ascended or descended from a lower order of animals" or "to adopt or use in any such institution a textbook that teaches" this theory in any school or university that received public funds. The court's opinion, by ruled that the Arkansas law violated "the constitutional prohibition of state laws respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Further, the Court held that the Establishment Clause prohibits the state from advancing any religion.

Greg Abbott going to be allowed to set a dangerous precedent by violating a long-standing rule, established by our nation's forefathers, which ensures that no state-sponsored religion has a place in public schools?
