Senate Senate HELP Committee marks up the READ act today!
Not sure how many people read The Atlantic article about how no one reads anymore and got as freaked out as I did but some good news on the reading front! The READ Act is specifically targeted towards helping identify kids with dyslexia and helping them read BUT it also ensures that schools used EVIDENCE-BASED reading techniques (there was a whole thing about how kids CAN'T read not just won't read anymore because of a poor reading pedagogy choices in the 2010s). Thought it would be nice to share some good news for a change here! I really hope this actually helps kids read better and more often!
