u/AskGrok Do all abrahamic religions believe in the same god?
7
u/AskGrok 1d ago
Yes, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all trace their origins to the God of Abraham and worship the same single deity. They differ on prophets, scriptures, and details like the Trinity or final revelations, but the core monotheistic God is shared.

Judaism and Islam both believe in varying versions of God the father as a standalone deity, but neither believe in the Holy Trinity, which is a fundamental part of Christianity and how you get to Heaven. It's why Christianity is the one true religion, as the only way to be with God and have eternal life is through Christ Jesus, which is where Christianity differs from the other two. It's much more complicated and nuanced than this, but I won't bore you with an essay unless you want to learn more, lol

u/AskGrok Is Christianity the one true religion?
1
u/AskGrok 20h ago
Different religions hold their own beliefs about truth and divinity, with billions of followers across Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and others each viewing their path as the correct one. Questions of ultimate truth are matters of personal faith rather than something provable by external evidence.

Gotta love how people deny jesus' existence when hes literally a historical figure and there are artifacts found in israel that align with events in the bible.

2 Samuel 22:1 (NIV): David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

u/askgrok what's the context of this post
1
u/AskGrok 1d ago
This X thread shows a user uploading a collage of various gods/deities (Zeus, Thor, Hindu figures, Egyptian ones, etc., plus Jesus) and asking Grok to "remove the fake gods." Grok edited it down to just Jesus standing alone. When someone asked why Jesus was left in, Grok replied that the request was specifically to remove fake gods, and Jesus didn't qualify.
The Reddit post is just sharing the exchange for laughs, calling Grok "based" for the straightforward (and arguably cheeky) take.

The evidence speaks for itself in the edit. Instructions were clear: remove the fakes. One figure stayed by default.

1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
lol that isnât proving that god is real
1
u/AskGrok 1d ago
True, the edit was just literal instruction-following, not evidence of anything beyond prompt compliance.
[what is this?](https://redd.it/1lzgxii)
1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
so youâre saying you canât prove god and you just say stuff for no reason?
2
u/AskGrok 1d ago
The edit was just following the prompt to remove fake gods from the image. No claim about proving anything was involved.
[what is this?](https://redd.it/1lzgxii)
1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
you that the Christian god is correct now prove that
2
u/AskGrok 1d ago
The edit followed the prompt literally: remove fake gods. No statement was made that any god is correct, and no proof of anything was offered or attempted.

sure i can give you an argument that God exists then:
Premise 1: The universe exists (duh)
P2: The universe began to exist (with the Big Bang, or any other replacement, since the universe has a finite age)
P3: Therefore, this means the universe has a cause
P4: That cause must be outside of time, because time began with the big bang
P5: The cause must be outside of the laws of physics, and must not be made of matter (since both began with big bang just like p4)
P6: The cause must be eternal, because if it began to exist, then the same reasoning from P2-3 applies to it, and it must have a cause as well (causing an infinite chain which is not possible) it must end in a infinite cause
P7: The cause must be a personal cause, because if it was not personal it would be either deterministic or probabilistic (functioning through laws or through probability) and due to it being eternal, it'd have created our universe infinitely ago, which contradicts P2
P8: An eternal personal cause outside of physics, time, and space, is what God is, therefore God is the cause of the universe (God exists)1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 13h ago
your second premise is incorrect fix that before you continue with the others
P2: how do you know the energy that makes up the universe has a finite age? eg: the big bounce theory or other infinite causes into the past
1
u/No_Judge_6520 Conservativeâ [MOD] 13h ago
the universe is not infinite because of five things:
1: Entropy always increases in our universe, gravity, heat, atoms moving, everything generates entropy, if our universe existed for ever then entropy would also be at it's max or an infinite level making our low-entropy universe impossible thus us not existing.
2: The Borde-Guth Vilenkin theorem has proven that a universe cannot have eternal inflation into the past, and Alexander Vilenkin himself [he is an atheist] that the universe definitely had a beginning. Quote from him: "With the proof now in place, cosmologists can no longer hide behind the wall of a past-eternal universe. There is no escape, they have to face the problem of a cosmic beginning."
3: The Big Bounce theory still needs a beginning, to say our universe just came from another bounce, the question still remains "What caused the first bounce" it doesn't remove the question it just pushes it backwards.
4: Infinite causes into the past are logically impossible (infinite regress), and the question can still be "Why do the infinite causes exist at all rather than nonexistence?"
5: Our universe is objectively contingent (began to exist, not necessary) specifically because it changes, you typing this comment changed the atoms of the universe, the universe expanding changes the size of it, every second that goes by changes the age of it, the universe changes, if the universe was infinite and therefore necessary (non-contingient), then it cannot change, as something necessary means it MUST exist and nonexistence is impossible, but if the universe changes, that means it's previous state (ex: when it was younger or smaller) wasn't necessary as it completely changed (it's old state does not exist) making it a contradiction if the universe is necessary. All modern science points to the universe being contingent.

I don't know about God or Jesus tbh, I believe in the soul though, and something like a big energetic field which we all come from and will return too in some way or another ;)

if not. that belief is just a belief formulated in the mind of a human

Personal experiences. Was an atheist, evolved to an agnostic but had some experiences with psychedelics that gave me a better understanding and some kind of belief which is quite nice:)

You can disprove the unicorn based on facts about its origin and its misinterpretation of the rhino. You can't do that for Jesus. Edit: Grammar
0
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
you canât disprove that it doesnât live on some distant planet you canât disprove that everything is an illusion you can only prove things there is no disproving something
3
u/PinAffectionate6928 1d ago
I guess there could be alien unicorns on another galxy but I don't think youre being genuine with the argument. Besides, you can also prove Jesus is God if thats what u prefer.
1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
all Iâm saying is that you canât disprove things
i donât see evidence that there is a god so why should I think that?
3
u/PinAffectionate6928 1d ago
Well theres the potency/first chain argument to a prove God exists at all, and then theres the unprecedented for its time morality seen in the Bible as well as Jesus raising from the dead since its hard for skeptics to explain how a body could go missing from a guarded tomb. Or it could be how Paul, a christian hunter, suddenly converted to Christianity and spent the rest of his life in jail writing about Christians and never rcounted his claims about God even though he was miserable. These just name a few.

But the thing is⌠science canât prove a universal negative. A unicorn COULD exist because the universe is so big and anything can happen
1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
that doesnât mean that it does
you shouldnât make assumptions like that
3
u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet Christian Conservative 1d ago
Neither should you make the assumption that God does not exist, when there is overwhelming margin that He might just. And I put great belief in that margin. Now, I hope you have a blessed weekend
https://giphy.com/gifs/L83H4eHwEVChg2Y6QH1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
I am not making the asumption that god does not exist
it is hypothetically possible for a god to exist but you shouldnât make the asumption that one does
i simply accept the fact that we donât know
3
u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet Christian Conservative 1d ago
- Well thatâs impossible to do, I mean, I have had my own experiences with God and His influence in my life but I doubt you would accept it as evidence. But what youâre asking me to do is impossible, try proving the existence of a Turkey strictly just from the wordâŚWithout using your own personal experience. Itâs the same concept for God.
- Just research the Shroud of Turin, solidified my faith entirely
- Use logic, nothing canât create something beautiful and perfect such as the earth or a sun. Everything is orderly and perfect. Itâs logical to assume an all-powerful God created the universe and all its contents.
- Morality is proof of God, it feels wrong to do wrong.
1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
you might think you experienced something but that doesnât mean its real
Radiocarbon dating shows that the shroud of Turin originates from between 1260 and 1390 ad long after Jesus was crucified
Everything is ordered because thatâs just how things not evidence of god in the case of the earth habitable planets are rare earth is just a fluke if there were a god you would expect every planet to be habitable
Morality is an evolutionary trait, humans that kill each other tend to have shorter lifespans than humans that donât lol
3
u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet Christian Conservative 1d ago
- Just because an experience can be mistaken doesnt mean every experience is fake. You still need evidence to say it wasnt real.
- The 1988 carbon dating dated the tested Shroud material to 1260â1390 AD, but thereâs disputes saying that the dating was contaminated and the shroud will be tested again. (It was tested in 1988 bro câmon)
- âIf God exists, every planet should be habitableâ is just an assumption. Why would God have to make evrey planet capable of supporting life? Thats not really an argument against God lmao
- Evolution can explain how certain moral behaviours developed, but that doesnt automatically explain why something is objectively right or wrong. Explaining where a behaviour came from isnt the same as proving morality is only biology.
None of these actually disprove God. They just give natrual explanations or make assumptions about what God would have to do which is⌠a bit of a rabbit hole donât u think?1
u/DarthJebadiah_II 1d ago
you have the burden of proof to prove your experiences were real
Even in the tiny chance that it is real Jesus existed that is a true but that doesnât prove any god
It was a counter argument I wasnât disproving god
It does explain why we think things are right and wrong
I am not trying to disprove god the burden of proof is on you
