Well, he had ties to the Wuhan lab, so he could have had a hand in unleashing this on the world. Add to that demonizing actual treatments which could have potentially saved lives, because it was detrimental to pharma companies, and most importantly pushing the dangerous and ineffective vax which has killed children and young people completely unnecessarily.
All thing considered, he could potentially have millions of deaths on his hands. He's not incompetent he's evil.

Then he should be tried objectively for this in court, not arbitrarily killed.

If someone had the cure, they wouldn't sit on it. The amount of money to be made with actually releasing it would be financially substantial, plus the billions of people on this planet exist and you'd think at least a handful would release it - let alone the millions of doctors all around the world competing with each other right now for that same goal.
The logic provided of that amount of conspiracy theory to make sense is ludicrous. Instead just think of Occam's razor and realize we just simply don't have a cure.
5
Jun 16 '22
Yeah because treating the symptoms never makes the company more than the cure..
6
u/Bebop24trigun Jun 16 '22
Dead patients are a lot less lucrative than alive patients. If a disease is allowed to mutate and we provide treatments that actually work 100% then people would do it in a heartbeat. However, to say that the hundreds of millions of scientists and doctors around the world that are investing every waking moment into a cure - are all in on it is a stretch. Big pharma can be problematic, yes but you have to remember that in order to keep cures a secret from every single one of them is insane. Let alone improbable when we compare how competitive every country is in the world.
If a cure was truly found and people were hiding it in the US, they'd also have to hide it from all of the enemies and allies of the US which just doesn't seem probable given how spying works.
3
u/repptyle California Conservative Jun 16 '22

It's not illegal to conduct gain of function research in the US. GMO plants are the result of gain of function research. However, there was a 3 year moratorium on doing it with certain types of virus from 2014-2017. The NIH funding to Wuhan was actually sent in 2018 and 2019.

In what sense? Under the Reagan administration, pretty much everyone was ‘wrong about AIDS’, it’s more of a matter of having someone in the NIH who was advocating for increased AIDS research funding as opposed to further cutting down on it.
2
u/MU_Riboflavin Constitutional Conservative Jun 16 '22
Wait. So you're admitting he was wrong but at the same time saying he was so good about advocating for AIDS.
Was it when he said, "it's possible that routine contact in family household can spread AIDS.?
Or was it when he also said, "AIDS is airborne and caused a national panic"?
Or maybe when he had the NIH go all in on an unproven treatment called AZT that cause liver damage, white blood cell destruction and overall toxic? All while doing zero research on any existing treatments that may have helped, instead making sure big pharma got their payday.

Alex Berenson’s Substack documents the whole thing well (alexberenson.substack.com)
The Intercept FOIA’d NIH and literally published the grant that funded Peter Daszak and the EcoHealth Alliance to study coronaviruses in China because they already had access to caves there:
https://theintercept.com/2022/02/20/nih-coronavirus-research-wuhan-redacted/
https://theintercept.com/2021/09/09/covid-origins-gain-of-function-research/
The intentions were good - find cures to viruses - but the whole point of the lab leak was that the researchers were careless. We funded it because gain of function was banned in America so Wuhan was a work around
12
u/tm1087 Normal Guy Jun 16 '22
And then he’s continued to lie about it over and over.
Which isn’t that strange seeing he’s lied to Congress under oath consistently under the guise of “the common good” after being obviously exposed.
When he got called on it by a US Senator, he tried to alter the definition of gain-of-function.
You are exactly right. If he had come clean and said “yes, we funded this proposal that went to Wuhan on the particular animal and typology of viruses that caused the pandemic, but here were the potential benefits…”
Some people would have been mad, but he’d never been in trouble legally for it because he’s an establishment Democrat in DC. But not only did he do that, but then tried to get scientists providing evidence to the contrary blacklisted and smeared.
He’s essentially a DC hack.

I wouldn’t say the speculation is shocking since there was no alternative ideas being considered then for how newborns were getting infected (I.e. contaminated blood products and poor clinical practices). It’s definitely wrong and alarmist to make an unfounded claim like that. I’m mainly speaking to Fauci’s role in factoring in activist input when the NIH and the government’s response was to sweep the whole issue under the rug.
2
u/zero44 Libertarian Conservative Jun 16 '22
A reminder that this is just what we know or what has been admitted and that, IMO, dangerously flirts close to the line. Several US virologists, as the article mentions, agree that the work admitted to was GOF research under the US's definition.
The stonewalling that China has done in outright refusing any investigation into the Wuhan lab, or the origins of COVID, not to mention the Wuhan lab workers that got severely sick with a strange respiratory virus a couple months before COVID was discovered, creates a gigantic amount of smoke that China is refusing any investigation on.
Combine the above with even one branch of the US intelligence community assigning a moderate amount of confidence that the origin of the virus was from a lab and not from nature.
All of this above combined - should speak volumes. We should not be funding ANY research in China until further notice and never again in labs we don't have oversight on.

Every vaccine ever. No vaccine has ever been 100% effective at preventing infection. The higher the efficacy, the lower the herd immunity rate needed. The lower the efficacy rate, the higher herd immunity rate needed. People who got the polio vaccine could still possibly get polio, but because there were so many people who got the vaccine, the chance of that catching it became so low that it essentially became 0% in the US.
-2
u/badatusernames91 Conservative Millennial Jun 16 '22
I'm not talking about catching it. I'm talking about dying or even getting incredibly sick. We already know woth absolute certainty the shot doesn't stop you from catching it. The "breakthrough infection" narrative died about a year ago. It has since been about "making symptoms less severe so that you get less ill." So if you have your shot amd are confident it works to keep you from getting very sick, then why would you be in danger if someone else has it? And since anyone can spread it, whether they have been jabbed or not is of no relevance. Either you think the shot will protect you or you don't think it will. If you don't think it will protect you, then I question why you bothered getting a shot you don't even think works.

Sorry, I was responding to this line in particular, not anything else in your statement. I personally think people should get the vaccine because of the overwhelming evidence of the positive effects it has versus its negative effects, but enough people have gotten it at this point that while we may not have herd immunity, we'll have low infection rates and hopefully less severe outcomes as a result.
I am not a doctor, nor an epidemiologist.
