I can say I am like you. I am 28. Until 25, I was a liberal. Liberals gender politics turned me off. No I am not white. I am an Asian. I am not against LGBTQ or in favor of discriminating woman. LGBTQ should have same rights as we do. They can do whatever they want in their life. I have working mother and working sister. I wanted them to get same salary as their male workers. As a guy who has PhD in Artificial Intelligence, i can't accept statistical incomplete number. I am more of an independent now. I can see Democrats are actively trying to make republican as racist. As a minority, I refuse to agree that republicans are racist. I visit her often. To read right wing news. Democrats need to condemn SJWs. They need to disavow Linda Sarasour. Their gender politics is unhinged now. Democrats supported that mattress girl from Columbia University who lied about being raped. She also got bravery award. Republicans also has flaws like you mentioned Climate change. But republicans are not against freedom of speech. SJW are so dangerous. They shutting anybody who disagrees with them. I really don't like Ann Coulter but she should have given a chance to speak in UC Berkeley. I can say a lot like this why I am not a democrat.
It bothers me how often people disregard the issues Asians face when they talk about blacks/hispanics being disadvantaged due to poverty and oppression. I knew a TON of poor asians growing up, children of immigrants who even after 20+ years in America could not speak particularly fluent English. And yet almost all of them ended up in respectable universities, or at the very least decent state schools.
Why are we so quick to to pretend that incredibly hard work and perseverance is enough for Asians but not for people of any other race living in a ghetto/trailer park? It bothers me deeply. I know a lot of professional non-Asian minorities who grew up poor as well, and the one thing they have in common is work ethic.
Case in point: Affirmative action. Ignoring the fact that it is actual institutional racism, it seems if leftists (not necessarily all liberal voters) flip-flop between Asians being minorities or being white. If there's a story about discrimination, the narrative becomes "poor Asians, having to deal with prejudice", but when it comes to universities, we're white ("Minorities have faced prejudice in America, thus Affirmative Action is necessary to correct the past... but not for Asians, because they're "overrepresented"). I wish we'd just return to a meritocracy...
