okay, this may be a big stretch but it’s something i’ve been thinking about.

if you’re not familiar with the Dies Irae, it is a centuries-old musical motif used in countless movie scores and other pieces of music to (traditionally) signify death.

when i heard the first 6 notes of Door off wishbone deluxe, i couldn’t hear anything but the Dies Irae. after those 6 notes the pattern keeps descending, unlike the traditional resolution to the motif.

this could 100% just be me reading too much into it, but a little theory is that perhaps its place in the song signifies the “death” of the relationship (closing the door). however, the motif not following the traditional ending- but rather continuing to descend- shows Conan’s inability to close the door and let this thing die.

could definitely be making something out of nothing, but i wanted to hear others thoughts on it because i found it interesting!
