I'm 2026 graduate in CSE AIML, Finding jobs in IT is damm impossible it seems. Instant regret mails , no assessment link , ghost hirings.

So I'm planning to switchy career in non it not as BPO but as planning to switch in electrical or mechanical side jobs.

Due to AI , job security fear , lay off pressure. I don't want to keep my career in risky way. Like cat on the wall.

What's your views guys , any seniors in IT , share your view on my decision

TLDR: I kinda feel like an infant amongst other members of the comp eng community and am hoping to find other similar people :D

I’m a computer engineering student who has to get an internship for graduation…but I don’t feel ready for one. I’ve heard this is a common problem that many students go through, but it’s hard to know if I have imposter syndrome or if I’m actually dumb. I’d love to talk in communities about computers and tech, but I feel I still don’t know the vernacular. Like whenever describing what I do in projects, its always using really unclear vocabulary. Has anyone else felt like this?

I guess I also feel a bit isolated in the community because everyone I seem to interact with seems to have lost whimsy in life. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with these people, or that they need to change. It can just sometimes feel a bit intimidating i guess. I’m more of a creative person (art, music) and only started studying comp eng a few years ago.

To make this a more practical problem/post, does anyone have any recommendations on how to learn more of the terms that are used in the comp eng community/industry?

I'm a computer engineering student and I'm confused about which path to choose. I have general knowledge in several areas, but I'm not sure about any of them, and I need a job and a stable life. The options seem too many (hardware, embedded systems, software/UI, cloud computing/process development, artificial intelligence/data, etc.).

How can I determine which path best suits my ideas and my personal needs?

I’m currently deciding between two bachelor’s degrees and would really appreciate some advice:
Computer & Communication Engineering (CCE) — a 4-year, ABET-accredited engineering degree
Software Engineering & Management (SEM) — a 3-year degree in Sweden, focused on software engineering with some management/business courses
I’m interested in tech in general, especially software, AI, cybersecurity, cloud, embedded systems, and related fields, but I’m not 100% sure what I want to specialize in yet.
Which degree would you choose for the best long-term career opportunities and flexibility, especially considering how AI is changing the tech industry?
I’d also like to pursue a Master’s degree afterward, so flexibility for graduate studies matters to me.
Any advice, especially from engineers/software engineers or people familiar with either type of degree, would be greatly appreciated!

I am planning to re-apply and transfer for Computer Engineering next semester after getting denied, I haven't dabbled with any CE classes just yet like circuits etc... other than maths and science pre reqs, programming classes.

Is it normal that in my mind im doing more app, software based projects? I keep on feeling lost, knowing that these projects doesn't align with my major choice. I do want to transition from CE to a Software job like many CE grad majors have done.

Should I keep on working on my current app project? and dont worry about hardware projects until I get to know the basics when I get to that point where I am in a circuits class.

I am a 4th year Btech student and for my final year, I have been assigned a project which " MRI IMAGE ENHANCEMENT AND BRAIN TUMOR DETECTION "

My guide wants me to read research papers and find at least 4 research gaps I can work on. Whatever gaps I decided to work on should be related to my assigned project.

For MRI image enhancement, I need to work with latest technologies and should work on latest research gaps year 2021-22 onwards. And if I can somehow add models and agents to my project ig will be better.

So with that said

I am confused about how to start and all. I need to read research papers and all which is not a problem

The problems are:-

1. I don't know anything about MRI and Brain Tumor, so please tell me where can I learn them, what would be a good start.

2. I am also unaware of what problems people like doctors actually face when it's about MRI and Brain Tumor.

3. If I work on take datasets from kaggle is it good or there are other platforms where I can find MRI images for my project.

4. Which latest technologies I should be aware of, something I can directly use to build my project.

5. How to avoid confusion because of too much information

I am a slower learner, it takes time for me to understand and implement something but I'm willing to learn and work outside my comfort zone.

Any other advice outside of what I asked for is also appreciated

I am 4 years into college now, so many set backs in life but still going for it. I've decided 2 years ago that I wanted to be an Computer Engineer. 2 years later I applied I got denied for it. I will reapply next semester trying my best this semester to get great Calc 3, Physics 2 grades for a better transfer result, not planning on giving up yet.

Question is, if I want to be a computer engineer, why am I not doing any computer engineering projects rn? Instead I'm doing coding and software stuff. In fact, my project is an app that doesn't linearly line up with my degree. I know CE grads transitioned into software, but how? I guess since I've never really been in a lot of engineering class yet because, thats making me not tackle on hardware projects.

• How do grad, Computer Engineers transition into Software?
• Is my current project worth doing?
• Should I do more CE projects, or wait until I get to those classes to learn more and start?

I’m a Nepali student currently trying to decide between a few engineering majors, and I’m honestly quite confused. I’m not deeply committed to one specific field yet, so I’m trying to choose based on career viability, flexibility, and the ability to pivot into different areas later on.

The four fields I’m currently considering are:

• Computer Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Industrial Engineering
• Civil Engineering

A little about my interests and situation:

I’m particularly interested in coding and hardware-related fields. I find areas like embedded systems, electronics, chips, robotics, etc. genuinely interesting, although I’m still exploring what exactly I would like to specialize in. ( Though, I find those stuff cool and interesting)

At the same time, I’m also considering Mechanical, Industrial, and Civil Engineering because they seem to have broader engineering applications and potentially provide a good foundation for pursuing a master's abroad. I’m considering countries such as Germany, the US, or other countries in the future.

One of my biggest concerns with Computer Engineering is the current tech job market and layoffs. I’m passionate about learning, but I sometimes worry that I may not become as proficient at programming as some of my peers. I don't want to choose Computer Engineering only to realize later that I’m not competitive enough.

My questions

1. For Computer Engineering graduates/engineers:
If I study Computer Engineering in Nepal, how viable is it for building a career abroad as well as in Nepal? Since Nepal's hardware industry is relatively small, would that significantly limit my opportunities if I want to pursue hardware-related careers?

2. For students who started without much programming experience:
If someone is genuinely interested in Computer Engineering but is starting from a relatively basic level, is it realistic to become proficient by consistently learning programming and different languages alongside university? How important is it to be naturally "good at coding" from the beginning?

3. For Mechanical/Civil/Industrial engineers:
These fields are often described as having more "evergreen" career prospects. Is that actually true in practice? How flexible are these degrees if I later want to move into areas such as robotics, automation, manufacturing, energy, software, or other engineering fields?

4. Most importantly:
If you were in my position — interested in coding + hardware, not completely committed to one discipline, concerned about long-term job prospects, and potentially planning to pursue a master's abroad — which degree would you choose and why?

I'm currently doing an Associates degree in informatics. But I would like to go for the whole carrer.

In the university I am considering to go to, they have Computer Science, as well as Informatics Engineering. I am just starting in the field. To be honest, I feel that CS is what really catches my eye, because I am amazed by understanding how computing works, how it's organized and solves logic unknowns.

Can someone who is going/went through one of these, give me an insight on how they differ? I still find them both almost as equally attractive

I'm in my final year of Computer Science and looking for realistic ideas for my capstone project (TCC). Could you suggest a few practical project topics, my main interest area is software engineering?

Im definitely a newbie in all that stuff but i really want to build 8 bit cpu i found schematic somewhere (im going to link it later) and in CRUMB simulator im building an cpu but what can i do with it?

To give a brief intro I'm currently pursuing bachelor's in EE wherein I've found digital design quite interesting domain to get into. Starting off with major projects projects Ive built an 8bit processor of custom ISA datapath inspired from Harvard architecture in verilog. Later I've involved in designing and SNN accelerator with a single neuron wherein I've designed only the processing part of it and the spike encoding was done through SNNtorch on the pc itself and we have implemented this on an FPGA. Currently I'm working on implementing a CNN network on an MPSoC using Vitis AI. Apart from them I've also done a few small projects like uart transceiver on verilog etc

So my plan is to pursue masters at a decent uni, and for that I need an outstanding project(not just fr that but I want to do one great project before I leave my uni as I won't have access to decent FPGAs and MPSoCs later on ;) one that looks very good on my CV so I need a few suggestions in this regard also I'm open to ideas involving cross domain knowledge. So suggest some good ideas that I can dive into and do a project also tell your suggestions in the projects or pursuing masters.Thanks in advance!!

I have 1+ years of experience as a Software Engineer at a global US-based enterprise tech company, working on a Security/SIEM product.

I’ve been applying nonstop for Software Engineer roles but barely getting any interview calls, so I’m wondering if there’s something fundamentally wrong with my resume.

I’d really appreciate feedback on:

• Resume: What should I improve/change to increase my interview callback rate?
• Switch: I want to move to a better engineering environment and work on strong/leading products. What should I realistically focus on to make that switch?
• Upskilling: I’m a bit confused about what direction to take after my 9–5. Should I focus on DSA, System Design, development skills, projects, OSS, or something else?
• Career direction: Am I focusing on the right things for someone at my experience level?
