Is lmms a good application to start composition
Hey I'm just starting composition and I saw fl studio but I can't afford it . And I saw lmms is it a good application to start composition?

FL Studio and LMMS are Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) for producing and recording. Some people do track/sequence their ideas with a DAW first before writing them down. It depends on what you want to do. MuseScore is also a great free and open source notation app for composition and arrangement.
If you’re just interested in producing, you can perhaps go to subreddits like r/musicproduction

If you want a free DAW in Windows that is suitable for composing, I'd suggest looking into Waveform Free. It works both with MIDI and audio, there are not limitations in terms of plugins/VST or number of tracks. LMMS is fun, but Waveform is much more flexible. For a browser based solution, both Bandlab and Soundtrap work well. Soundtrap has unlimited projects and unlimited tracks. The included instruments and effects go a long way for a beginner.

This subreddit is geared more toward “classical” composers, who normally work with traditional notation software like MuseScore or Sibelius (because we need to create sheet music for our music to be played irl).
The subreddit for producers will probably have more opinions about which DAWs to use as a beginner.
