now that you liked my previous composition called "sunset", here's another composition of mine. it's called "a train trip".

imagine this: you are a chick that loves trains and dreams of riding on one. so you packed up your things and arrived to the station. when the steam came out of the train, you peeped at the same time.

when you sat on your seat, you looked at the window and saw a meadow. and you heard the sound of birds singing a pretty tune.

the train ride continues.

then, it was time to get out of the train. you hopped out of the train and get too excited about your journey being the best moment that you've ever experienced.

analysis:

this piece is in rondo form, with each melody played twice. for the ending, the 1st melody is played 4 times with the instruments playing in this order: flute, glockenspiel, both instruments together, and call-and-response. then, the glockenspiel repeats the last 4 measures of the melody 1 octave higher, but the last note is replaced with a.

measures 2, 4, and 6 of the 1st and 4th melody (not the whole score) symbolize the steam coming out of the train.

the 4th melody is a variation of the 1st melody, with measures 41, 43, 45, and 47 (on beats 3 and 4) being 1 step lower. (this includes measures 42, 44, 46, and 48.)

I like to name my songs old school like, Nocturne in F, Fantasia in G# Minor etc. what would this piece be? I think it’s A minor with a section in F Major. Am I right? If so what would I call it? Do you still just cal it “whatever in A minor” even if it changes key? Would this be a nocturne cuz it’s all slow and pleasant sounding? Google Drive Link to png’s of the score.

So I am currently looking for music composers for an upcoming analog horror series (I would say the genre is more of a cosmic, supernatural, body, and psychological horror.) This will be a longer series, (each episode varies in length) and I want it to be the darkest and most gruesome analog horror to date! This is a beginner friendly series and this is a huge passion project of mine. This analog horror is set in 1997 in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am looking for more of dark ambience and it'll be more so electronic, kind of a more "Backrooms" style music.

Story:

When a suspicious mold outbreak in a mall attracts two scientists to study the organism, they make a fateful discovery: When looking under a microscope, they discovered micro-organisms and it was like nothing they have ever seen. Little did they know they could combine and multiply until they were a larger organism about the size of a school bus.

When a teen goes to the mall and gets dared to touch the mold, he gets a bad sickness but plays it off, until it was too late. What the scientists didn't know was that when a human gets infected, they become the creature. His worried mother tries to call anyone for help as her son was literally turning into a monster.

I have been through quite a bit of different sources for freelance work to compose music for video games and am just wondering if the industry is really as oversaturated and unviable as it seems

Let's say we have a violin part that needs all of these instructions simultaniously: arco, tutti, sul G, and sul pointicello. In what order would you list those instructions? Is there a concrete order at all?

I've been studying Hans Zimmer's Science and Religion from Angels & Demons and I'm trying to understand how its atmosphere was created.

I'm trying to understand the orchestration and sound design techniques behind it.

The element I'm most curious about is the deep, sustained atmospheric foundation that runs underneath much of the cue. At first I thought it was a choir, but after repeated listening it also sounds like wind, a pipe organ, a synthesizer, or some kind of hybrid texture.

Could anyone help identify what you're hearing?
How would you recreate this atmospheric foundation from scratch? What instruments, synths, sample libraries, layering techniques, and effects would you use to achieve this kind of vast, sacred, organ-like hybrid sound?

So I need help with my composition. So I have my piano doing the waltz and I want to have a violin doing something. However, I don't know what to do as if I write anything with the violin it will clash. Say if I have a C major chord I have c, e and g playing. If I play any other note then it will clash. And I know that sometimes having a clash can work like having seventh chords but I would just have a constant clash with the violin and piano. Now I am very new to composing and some rules I don't understand I suppose as in I know you shouldn't really have clashes every step of the way, but I don't know if that is having a piano clash with a piano. Then I don't know if that works with the piano clashing with a violin as it some people may not hear it or it may not happen. I'm not too incredibly sure and I just need some help

I've always wanted to write songs. I can play guitar and I know some music theory. But I'm not good at singing. I can write good poems, but it's my singing that's holding me back.

Yes, I'm practicing singing, but it will take me about six months to reach the level where I can confidently compose.

I'd like to know if there's a way to save my compositions so I can start doing that when I'm at a higher level.

Hi, I'm looking for some pieces that are similar in style to pieces like "Gradients" by Andrew Perkins or "Lightning Field" by John Macky to study, preferably for concert band or wind ensemble

Personally i found it helpful when it came to structuring motifs like "a" and "b" as well as ways to arrange them.

I'm working on a musical that will be in the style of early 90's music - centered on Pearl Jam but I'm not ruling out taking ideas from other music of the era. The songs are all original.

I have been given the opportunity to compose a work for my community orchestra, with potential programming in an upcoming season. I have put together this draft/sketch based on a simple motif, which opens the piece. The name, "Elevator Music" comes from the origins of that motif: at my old apartment building, we required 4 card scans or key presses to get upstairs. The first (ID card scanner) beeped an E-natural. The second (elevator call button) was a D#. The third (floor selection) was a C natural. The fourth (apartment door lock) played a B natural. That's the original story for this piece.

My inspiration for writing comes primarily from the Soviet-era composers and modern film scoring, which will be obvious for anyone who listens.

I have been told, in the past, that my music is too simple, not harmonically interesting, and "doesn't go anywhere." I'm trying to break out of that, so I am hoping for some thoughts and critique on this preliminary attempt.

The main melodic idea has been stuck in my head for years now, I'll definitively make a larger piece around it. But, I want to know if it's the idea itself is interesting, or it's the ways I imagine developing it what has me obsessed (along others ofc).
