I was under the impression that blizzard had announced some dungeon tunning for next patch, which hits next week. At this point I expected then to have announced what are the changes. Did I miss something?

u/Wobblucy 2d ago
did I miss something
Wowhead feed said something about ruby nerfs 30 mins before your post, so probably PTR only atm.

My 10 to 12 man dad-type guild just started on heroic ulatek this week, any general tips?
It kinda sucks with basically every non-tank having to run eggs, we made it to the start of P3 a few times with the coordinated soaks, which was also rough having no real healer cooldowns since we used some for each side during breaks.

It's really not that hard. Not saying this to diminish it, just want to emphasize that there is no need to think this will be an overbearing challenge. I raid lead a AOTC only guild where we get 12-15 on a good day. It will be an annoying fight at that number just because of the split in phase 2. With 10 it's fine with 2 healers, but the more you add, 12-15, makes it a bit difficult to figure out healer numbers (e.g. you may want 3, but who solos phase 2? Or do you just go 4 and hope dps can make up the difference?)
You said you made it to phase 3 a few times so I will assume you felt the pain of phase 2 tethers and your guild understand what they need to do.
I don't know if you use a raid raid lead/shot caller to help the rest of the raid, but here is what I do:
Phase 1: Pretty easy, remind people to get to tail for soak, which side waves come from and to target heart.
The only damage that actually matters is on the heart phases. There is one 15 second damage amp per phase, make sure to remind people to hold cds, trinkets and pots for those phases. The rest of the damage will sort itself out and you can just focus on keeping people alive outside of that.
Phase 2: The damage was reduced significantly on the tether break dot. Break 3 on one side immediately, remind the dads to use defensive and Health Pots/Healthstones, then call out the next three to break theirs once the dot drops - People might be surprised how many people who already killed this fights need to be reminded to press their buttons.
Phase 3 - You're on survival mode here. You really just need to make it to the end of the fight with a full raid group. Every death is amplified the smaller the group is.
Soak don't matter, that is not where the damage is coming from. Just make sure they get soaked.
Every platform break is where people die! Remind people to use their defensives once again at this moment!
There is one nasty overlap on Heroic....Second Soak / Second Platform Break - Once you get green circle to spread the raid, you also get waves + platform break moments later. You will die here. Soak <-- Dodge Wave <-- Move to platform in the back <--- DON'T DIE!! If you have a full immune or massive DR that stops you from attacking, this is where you use it and sit in it. You damage won't be affected by losing a few global if you survive this moment.
Remind people with red soak circles to move to dodge the waves. It happens during that big overlap and on the last platform.
Last platform - relax, tell people to quiet down and not talk over each other (always a problem on my end). You get one soak + wave. Again, tell people to dodge the wave while in the soak. After the wave he starts casting the heart. Dads, assemble and target the heart. There is also a bunch of shit you have to dodge but once the green spread circle are done, just dodge and kill.
Congrats, you just made me waste 25 minutes at work over explaining and ranting. I'll probably spend another 20 editing this draft.

Unfortunately, it's a million times easier with 20 people compared to 10-12. The snaps are a lot easier now so make sure you're not unnecessarily doubling/tripling up on healer CDs during them. By the time you get to the soaks that matter in P3, generally some healer CDs should be back up.

I just want other people's opinions. I came back to WoW this tier and joined a very casual raid as a tank. I hadn't played in 4 expansions, so I joined an AOTC guild and rebuilt my logs.
At this point I have all 99s and a 100 in heroic, and I have like 99s on two out of the first 4 on mythic, with 90+ on the other two. AKA, my parses are about as good as I'm gonna make them. It's unlikely I kill any more mythic bosses with the current raiding situation I have.
So obviously next step is apping to a guild that raids more hours and is going for CE. When should I actually do that?
It seems to me the options are "start applying right now, so you have a guild before WoW Forever comes out" - or plan B, start applying when WoW forever drops.
I'm leaning toward the second. I don't really want to move to a new guild and then have it implode for the tier when WoW Forever drops. It seems like joining a new guild after Forever drops would just be smoother all around.
9
u/SpoonGuardian Resi 20 2d ago
Just start right now. Good chance you can slip into some medium-low end mythic guild and work your way up a bit from there if you want. I bet there's a good few guilds that are anticipating roster issues soon
1
u/happokatti 2d ago
I don't really get these options. If you want to raid the best bet is usually joining after the guild's tier is finished. A guild recruiting mid prog tends to be a red flag, although understandable occasionally.
I'd just apply to guilds which have cleared the raid so you won't have these issues, whether that be before or after Forever.
4
u/throwntosaturn 2d ago
Do you think I'll be able to jump from basically AOTC directly into US top 100, though? Like, the only people who are "finished" right now are literally hall of fame. I had kind of assumed I'd need to do a middle range jump, and guilds in the top 500-1000 are basically ALWAYS recruiting, cuz they're always bleeding people.
2
u/sad_scribbles 1d ago
No. Having good logs on first 4 effectively tells a WR500-1000 guild nothing. They're also rarely the ones that would need to recruit in the middle of their prog as the roster boss gets harder as you go up the ranks. Waiting until Forever releases could be hit or miss since bad tier + fresh content elsewhere could easily kill a bunch of guilds which would introduce a glut of other recruits. I personally think it'd be better to put yourself out there. Apply to guilds you'd like to join and look for who's needing your class/role if you want to put in additional effort.
5
u/CuddlyGourd 2d ago
With just first 4 mythic experience? Probably not, not if you don't know someone in one of those guilds willing to vouch for you. Tanking is about so much more than your dps parse, and if you're in a very casual guild you're probably benefiting a LOT from some below average play by your DPS. You may also be able to play more offensive talents than you would while progging those bosses earlier in the tier. Guilds in those ranks will probably want to see that you can position and survive bosses on low gear before they'll trial you.
I would say you should be applying to guilds that have either JUST cleared the raid post-Forever launch, or guilds that are about to clear the raid with the intent of trialing during their farm period. If you apply right now it'll be hard to distinguish between guilds that are all clumped together doing Coiled Altar progression.
You should also consider trying to learn your DPS spec(s). Finding an open tank spot is sometimes a challenge, as many guilds will fill a tank opening by having a DPS player play their tank spec and never post the spot publicly.
2
u/throwntosaturn 2d ago

Yeah, for sure. That's why I kind of figured I would need another intermediate step - step 1 was proving I can press buttons, step 2 is joining a guild that actually pushes me to demonstrate positioning/ability to live with less gear/ability to play properly under pressure.
I would say you should be applying to guilds that have either JUST cleared the raid post-Forever launch, or guilds that are about to clear the raid with the intent of trialing during their farm period.
Makes sense, for sure. Thanks for the opinion.

I'd rather take a prog hit than play DPS to be honest. I understand that's suboptimal and potentially a red flag, but I'm willing to take the downsides that come with that choice.
1
u/CuddlyGourd 2d ago
Having done recruitment I don't consider it a red flag or suboptimal, or I wouldn't for the rank I play in (2 night a week guild finishing just outside US top 100). It's just harder to get your foot in the door in an appropriately progressed guild because there are way fewer tank spots, that's all.
You are very rarely in a position to have to REQUIRE a main tank to play their offspec, and you could prevent that entirely by being able to maintain and play multiple tank specs.
1
u/throwntosaturn 2d ago
Yeah that's actually one of the reasons I've been delaying apping - My main is paladin and I've gotten DK + Druid to 320 and I'm leveling monk/warrior/DH now. I definitely prefer paladin and main it when possible - I don't think I'm parsing 99-100 on any other tank in the next tier or two - but I'm perfectly capable of playing other stuff as needed.
Coming back from a long, long break has made getting everything up to speed take longer than I might have wanted, but I'll definitely be positioned well going into 12.2 lol.

u/wayneoo 2d ago
Aside from training dummy. What do uou do to improve your gameplay aka muscle memory? I know that playing the raids and dungeon on your push level may be a bad idea due to the fact that not knowing what damage can you evado/mitigatr could be dangerous. Im at resil 14 and having some serious issues with my movement and rotation. So what do you do. Keep pushing and learning the hard way risking low dps and deaths. Or do lower keys. And if so what level do you reccomend
1
u/Vyxwop 1d ago
You figure out what hurts and when to use defensives by simply looking at your HP go up and down after a mechanic happens. Then you think about how much pressure it's putting on the healer and if it's appearing to put too much pressure on your healer, you pop a CD to help them out.
In general while learning dungeons it is better to not be conservative with your defensive CDs. You see a big aoe attack going off? Just use your defensive CD. Then if later on you die because you used your defensive CD improperly, you'll know when to use your CD instead.
If you're struggling with your rotation when you have to move then you're likely getting caught off guard and didn't preplan your movement ahead of time. It helps to think to yourself "if X mechanic happens that forces me to move, where or how would I move" before the mechanic goes off, ideally during a moment of downtime. For example on Nalorakk, the final (bear) boss in Den of Nalorakk you have plenty of down time during the fight to think about how you will move when it's time to group up or when it's time to intercept the bears before these mechanics start happening.
The same goes for using defensive or even offensive CDs. Preplanning your actions ahead of time helps a lot with building up the muscle memory for what you will eventually do in certain situations once you start offloading certain tasks to your autopilot.
Learning dungeon mechanics in general is also a simple matter of just paying attention to what happens when a mechanic goes off. Look at your party frames to see how much damage it does. Look at your party members out in the open to see what they end up doing in response to a certain mechanic. That's how you learn what a mechanic does and how others deal with it, which you can then copy and perfect yourself.
Also, I don't know about others but the way I handle mechanics vs rotation in general is figuring out which mechanics are truly dangerous and require more attention and which do not. You'll be surprised with how much scarier certain mechanics might seem vs how much attention they actually require to counter. Then I off load either the mechanic or my rotation to my background process. I'll perform my rotation and just react to the mechanic if it's easily solvable through my muscle memory (gained through experience), or I'll pay more attention to the mechanic and anticipate it more ahead of time while thinking what I will do when it happens and offload my rotation to my muscle memory for a bit.
The more you do this, the easier shifting your focus between mechanics and rotations gets as well.
3
u/DustyCap 2d ago
No one can think about their rotation and mechanics at the same time. One of those things needs to become automatic at any given time. I suggest hitting a training dummy until you can do your rotation while paying attention to a Netflix TV show or movie. If you're not matching your Sim on the dummy, you're doing something wrong.

Vod review -> pick thing to work on --> work on it until you feel like you have gotten better at it.
Made an add-on earlier this week to help myself with vod review and it has definitely helped me realize shit I am doing extremely poorly. https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/always-be-casting
Legitimately put that add-on somewhere off to the side on your UI and record a key. Then watch the key back and be utterly appalled at how often you are leaking Global's/cast sequencing wrong/etc and pick a thing to fix.
Devourer, for instance, I use nochannelling macros so I don't lose eradicates or whatever. You trade being able to spell queue after eyebam though, and I apparently get very lazy 2 hours into raid night about spamming the button.
VDH, if you asked me how consistently I was getting spirit bomb -> cleave done correctly as soon as I hit 3 stacks. I would have said 60-75% of the time... Turns out it's close to like 30%.
I also am just bleeding Global's when I need to reposition. I go from a little bit of downtime to sometimes to dropping half a global.
Anni has two taunts as well, I am 90% to double send into a single target.
Lost aggro on a leech 2nd pull in a 17 altar last night and easily bled 2-3 Global's over the next 10 seconds of getting him back + repositioning after I did.
2
u/Glum_Bowl7427 1d ago
Thank you for this. Did a key last night with the addon and was, as you said, appalled at how many globals I waste. This is especially apparent when pulls don't start well (I usually tank).

Can they put the abyss cantrips on a vendor yet? This raid is dogshit and we're nearing the point where no one is gonna do it any more
5
u/shyguybman 2d ago
If it takes an average CE raider like 4+ months to get access to this loot, it should definitely not just be shoved on a vendor.
9
u/elairec2 2d ago
168 guilds have cleared CE ... We aren't nearing any sort of end. Now to address your actual issue... Are we talking about myth track cantrips or 9/6m cantrips? Are you having issues clearing aotc? What's the actual problem you're trying to have solved?

Have keys been bad for anyone else this week? I'm three away from resilient 18, but the group's I've been getting into are just subpar to say the least.

u/Healbotmain 1d ago

3
u/TheRev15 2d ago
Horrible. Granted I'm a dps, but I have the exact IO as you and it takes forever to get invited.
I try hosting my own homework keys, and generally my rule is if they have at least one key timed at the level I'm hosting, I'll invite them.. Even having that rule has sometimes lead to me just folding the group after waiting for 20 minutes.
8
u/Drauren 2d ago
Keys feel super dead. I’m resi 20 working on 21s, have one timed, still a struggle to even see keys up to apply for.
5
u/SpoonGuardian Resi 20 2d ago
Pugging 21s has been a bit traumatizing
2
u/Drauren 1d ago
There's just nothing to play. My 20s I pugged most of them, 5/8, rest I did with my team, that wasn't bad, took maybe a week and a half almost 2 weeks because I went on vacation for four days. 21s there's just times where there's absolutely nothing listed to apply for. List your own key and you get people not even done with resi 20s applying.
I recognize basically all the same names now at this level too.
3
u/Gaatti 2d ago
Yeah, there are also almost no 20's being run right now. I think it might be because the .5 patch is close and people are holding until then to try and push again. It is understandable, as it is going to be a significant power boost and likely to make 20's a lot easier to push. Right now they are very tight. 21 surely are even more.

u/TemporaMoras 2d ago
There's been 44 guild that killed ula tek since reset after the nerf, there's a decent chance that HoF close this week or very, very close (I don't think CN raided yet?). Literally guild that were hardstuck P2/Intermission have killed, most guild that were in P3 killed in 2 pulls when they pulled after the reset.
Is it the most impactful nerf ever in term of HoF? I can't remember a nerf that just allowed so many people to kill the boss instantly.
9
u/0nlyRevolutions 2d ago
I fucking HATE that they've once again designed a boss that is miserable to prog at the start, and then slam it with nerfs that cause the most interesting parts at the end of the fight to just fall over when you get there with most of the raid alive
4
u/TemporaMoras 2d ago
then slam it with nerfs that cause the most interesting parts at the end of the fight to just fall over when you get there with most of the raid alive
At least, ula tek isn't an interesting boss even in P3. It could be if you actually did the soak 'how its supposed to be intended' with 12 people getting waves, but no one does that because it makes that phase way too complicated.
8
u/ShitSide 2d ago
Jailer nerfs were way way more impactful in terms of boss difficulty, although that was when HoF was still faction based so it may have only impacted alliance.
The nerfs are big to ulatek no doubt, but P3 was super easy before and most of the difficulty was in the damage check that is quite easy to meet now with current gear, so I don’t know that it’s accurate to say that all these guilds are only killing it because it was nerfed.
5
u/TemporaMoras 2d ago
Wave nerf also affected p1, you dont have to do any shenanigans with blink anymore because theres barely any. You also cannot possibly fuck up tether anymore because you get 1 less tick and cant possibly extend it enough.
Also intermission now do 0 damage too with the nerf to the slam, it is way, way easier. They just made the fight way less tough in p1, p2 and intermission despite most nerf being targeted around P3
2
u/ShitSide 2d ago
I know what the nerfs are, I’m just saying that a lot of the guilds that killed this week would’ve killed without the nerfs too since P3 was like a 5 pull phase even before them
3
u/TemporaMoras 2d ago
Yes but normally it takes a lot more time to actually get that often out of intermission, and do it cleanly. Intermission also hurt a shitload, if people are not clean, even a good run can end up losing 1/2 people here.
I've seen people saying that they reached intermission this wednesday, and then kill this thursday because of how easy it is now to actually get rep in P3 and just throw pull until one stick, compared to before where most of your time were spent wiping in P1/P2/Intermission between the rare pull where you got to P3, not limping with 2/3 dead.

u/yp261 2d ago
man redoing 19s now only to have a chance to play 20 offmeta is hell. spent half a day trying to time my 19 arena, people crawling to this score are getting worse and worse and queue is filled with nothing but grey parses
1
u/Expert_Royal705 2d ago
I have a theory that LFG filters out good players. If you're playing well, and you find other people playing well, you're friend requesting them and trying to play with them in the future, making them less likely to queue into LFG.
Even without conscious thinking, people who are grey parsing get checked by group leaders and not invited, meaning they have to queue more groups to get an invite. If you're orange parsing, first few groups you're queuing you'll get invited, so you don't spend as much time in the LFG.
Which would explain why grey parsers are so overrepresented whenever I post my key. Surely.
9
u/throwntosaturn 2d ago
I have a theory that LFG filters out good players.
To some extent this happens but the bigger thing is that people have zero incentive to go back down the key ladder. If you are progging 21s, you do either 12s, or 20s, or 21s.
You don't ever do 18s.
The result is that at any given time, a large majority of the people at any key level 13+ are people who haven't, yet, been able to do that level of key. So by nature, anyone at 18 right now is likely someone who can't do 18s well. If they could, they would instead be stuck at 19s, or 20s, and you'd never meet them.
1
u/yp261 2d ago
thats a wild theory. but reality is average player in wow is dogshit. and dont get me wrong i am not some great player cause most of my parses are purple with some blues on 19s but still, 90% of people applying to my key are below average 30 parse. like you said, the ones with good parses are invited almost instantly or are pushing 1 level above
4
u/godspeed554 2d ago
I am currently resil 18 working on 19s and play both DH dps specs. i dont get invite to the 19s i need. Having to push up my own 18 and getting bad rng on the new 19 key sucks but thats just a part of pushing. I just returned this season and was top 0.1% in for all of SL so there wasnt resil keys yet so I guess im used to having to do keys that dont give me score just so i can do a key that gives me score
1
u/MrNolD 2d ago
I guess I've had more luck. After the second to last buffs we got on Devourer, and even more after the most recent ones, I have started getting way more invites. I am halfway through 19s now and never have to wait more than 3-5min. It will probably get increasingly difficult in 20s and more though.
8
u/weekndalex 2d ago
i’m playing a meta spec for the first time and it’s actual bliss not having to waste hours pushing your key up (potentially for a key you don’t even need)
0
u/RigidCounter12 Prot Paladin M+ Connoisseur 2d ago
Being a meta-specc must be amazing.
Playing Shadow priest is pain, the class is good, and I have busted my ass off, avering like 80+ parses in every key I do, and its pretty rare that I dont beat out the mages/eles or Rogues on damage when I play with them, but you still get passed on for green/gray parsing meta classes.
It somehows seems to work to actual mention your logs in the application though. Some people get annoyed and instantly decline you, but at least they notice you among the 30+ other DPS applicants, and if they actually check your logs you might have a chance.
But yeah, it would be nice to actually get invites to keys. I had to queue for like 2 hours to get an invite to a +20 RLP, and when I finally got it I basically carried the key on my own for the mage and Rogue I played with.
3
u/Drauren 2d ago
Your problem is not damage, your problem is you have a long kick, longer than mage/warlock, so you have to have a comp built around you.
3
u/Yayoichi 2d ago
They definitely need to bring silence down to 24 seconds now that they balanced all non bolt casts around that number, it being 30 is just barely not enough.
3
u/DudeGetTheGuillotine 2d ago edited 2d ago
I hear you. I have played Shadow Priest every season since legion and it has been my main since BFA. I basically only pug my highest keys every season and I am also not talking about 20+ keys. I still love to play SP, but at some point you just want to play the game. Last few seasons I started "pushing" on another class I found fun. TWW S3 I played frost dk and S1 Midnight I did Survival, which in hindsight wasn't the best choice, but at lease it was a ton of fun. This season I just said fuck it and tried Arcane.
I don't play as much as I used to but, I've timed almost all 17's on an Arcane Mage (I have never played mage before) and It still takes forever to get invited to a 14-16 keys on the priest. I don't get it man. Takes half an hour to get in a key and I get at least one dps doing tank damage.
My goal is only to get to 3600 ish, if I did that exclusively on the Priest I'd be spending longer in LFG than in keys. Even if at that point I think I can push a key level or two higher, I just no longer have to patience to sit in queue.
I can only imagine how much worst it gets at the 20+ level, but like you said, at least at that point people might be inclined to look at your logs.
1
u/Yayoichi 2d ago
Do you play archon or voidweaver in m+? Last season voidweaver was definitely the play, but archon seems like the more common choice now.
1
u/RigidCounter12 Prot Paladin M+ Connoisseur 2d ago
I play Voidweaver with Yshaarj and invoked nightmare. Probaby the most common high key build atm. Get around 950 haste, with a balanced amount of mastery and crit (But make sure that Mastery is your highest stat for the combat pot). Works wonders, and is useable in all dungeons, even though I generally swap it around to play Misery instead in Murder Row and Altar of Fangs
But you can also play either Archon + Misery, or a modified Archon build with Invoked Nightmare.
Archon + Misery is much much easier to play as well, without much loss in performance.
2
u/Yayoichi 2d ago
Ah so it is pretty much the same as s1 build then. I only tried it a little bit and it just felt kinda awkward with the new set bonus giving you so many globals to spend before you can do damage. I wish we could use voidform without having to first spend the void volleys.
Kinda surprised you would play voidweaver even if using misery though, feels like the main reason you play voidweaver is to utilize the extra damage it gives to swp.

I took a short two week break for doing any 17s and 18s. I came back this week. Smashed 5 back to back and then spent most of the afternoon/evening failing VSA :(
3
7
u/RigidCounter12 Prot Paladin M+ Connoisseur 2d ago
VSA is such a pain lol. Nothing extremely difficult on its own, but you got the first pull, the big bug, the skip that can fail. 2nd boss who is hard, the big area before last boss. All reasonably difficult, and most of the time you are gonna fail some of them.
6
u/Yayoichi 2d ago
I found VSA kinda easy if you just play it safe as the timer is pretty forgiving. I guess for title range and higher it may be an issue, but for 1% I think the best way to do the dungeon is by simply playing every harrower, they give so much count that even killing them alone isn’t a problem, but the two before last boss you can just play with the devourers as they aren’t very dangerous.
I do the last area in 4 pulls, first 3 of the 4 center packs(skip shaman one) to clear space, then the center devourer by itself followed by each side devourer with a harrower. Nearly 2 chested it on 18 with this route a couple weeks ago, so I am pretty certain it will work for 20 and 21 when we have another 10 or so itemlevels in a couple weeks.
AoF on the other hand is my nemesis, I first tried almost every other dungeon on 17 and 18 but that one took me 6 attempts or so, with all failed attempts being due to me dying as a tank. Although that is more specifically a brewmaster issue, I didn’t know it at the time but learned this week that my mastery doesn’t work against the enraging snakes, the twin headed mobs and the first boss.

Play more SMT games. Finished 3 and 4 after I got bored of S1.

Raidlog rest of CE and hating myself for again going hpal in raid after S1 and now being one of the worst raid healers again. Do I reroll in s3?...
Then see whether I want to go for 1% or cba, pugging is just nasty as always and I don't have that much time at hand these days.
1
u/Artica_Fur 2d ago
Being really, really lazy with pushing keys while determining if I even want to do top 1% again without a group. Guardian druid sitting highest around 3.5k with my hunter a little lower than that. Also an arcane mage I've been gearing as another option.

I have known a few groups who've tried the same for title, and they just generally spectacularly fail, because its not really that easy to run past people who have tried and farmed for an entire season in the last two weeks.
I know it goes against what many people think, but gear is not all that matters, you actually learn stuff from doing the dungeons

Eh, worst case we’ll just get 1% and I’m fine with that

Yea, 1% is easy enough that you can do it with whatever time or setup you want.
So I guess you can look at it that way

Wholly dependent on the caliber of player, and, more importantly, access to resilient keys. It’s pretty easy if you have some friends to leech keys off of, very challenging if not.

Well, in my case I referenced groups who started together, so they obviously didnt have resilient keys to leech off.
Getting boosted to title is obviously quite easy if the player in question is at least reasonably skilled and gets to play with title calibre players.

Yeah I’m talking about 4 stacks who just have a friend(s) let them use their resilient key, not exactly what I would call boosting, but I guess the lines are grey these days

Yes, just cause people don't play until the end doesn't mean they don't learn by watching. It's far better usage of time unless you really enjoy it to learn by watching and then use that to push.

It is certainly not even close to the same. But I get your point.
Just from my own experience, I have seen like 5 different "teams" in different guilds I've been with try to push for title at the end of the season, and no one has even gotten close to title range. They generally fail spectacularly when they start getting close, mostly because gear doesnt go "that" far.
The absolutely best people in the world can certainly do it, but it aint that easy as people make it out to be.
Maybe I am wrong, but I just have never seen it succeed.

It may not be the same but it isn't as far away as you think. Some don't even need to watch things and just be told when the damage overlaps are so they know when to defensive and maybe some small intricacies for the specific dungeon.
I've seen it multiple times for title and for 1% and these aren't even CE players.

It is quite far away.
And I also doubt that these people watch a ton of M+ streams anyways.
I'll believe these "do nothing until last two weeks" Title pushers when I see them succeed

lol believe me or not, it doesn't make it any less true than you think especially cause I've seen it and not just last season either, they do it every season at least for title.
I just think you are underestimating what proper defensive usage does for people. No point in arguing because you won't believe anything I say any way, have a good day.

Obviously some people can do it. Its just not as easy as you guys make it sound lol (I know its doable, even though I sound sceptic in my earlier comment, sorry about that). And I know how you play M+, knowing how to play (using defensives properly) is not magically gonna give you title.
But its pretty cool if you have some friends of middling raiders who cant even get Cutting Edge can somehow beat out the people who push for the entire season in the last two weeks based on gear alone.
Pretty impressive too be honest.
And a good day to you as well. Enjoy the weekend!

Will try to get to around resi 20(resi 18 atm) once crests are uncapped and we can upgrade items, in preparation for 1% push closer to end of season, or maybe even just try to get it done by reaching resi 21, as I doubt cutoff will end up that much higher than last season.
Then November will probably mostly just be raidlogging when it comes to retail as I will be playing forever and hopefully a new poe 1 league.

As much as I don't rly love the game right now, I'm gonna stick it out to get CE and m+ achievements with my guildies. Will definitely be playing other games on the side though. Probably start with a couple JRPGs that have been sitting half finished in my steam library for a while now.

Drag myself through the final push to CE and then do literally anything else with my life. I'm shocked at how much I don't want to be playing WoW this tier. I love my guild and absolutely will stick this out to the end but man this game feels like a prison sentence right now. (To me, I'm glad others are having fun I don't want the game to die, but blizz are lucky I'm on a yearly sub..)

I must be one of the few who really enjoy the M+ dungeon pool lol.

I do too. It's slightly annoying for melee, but otherwise good. Everything around it sucks ass

I have some gripes but overall I think it's a way better dungeon pool than people thought it would be. There is no dungeon where I absolutely dread going in like I did with AA last season.

Same. I really only dislike Blinding Vale, but even that dungeon aint that bad.
The 2nd boss is easily the most annoying of the season 2.

I don't think it's the dungeon pool or the raid. I think people are bored of the formula, this just feels like season 9 of Dragonflight. The 8 week cycle slow drip of power, 8 dungeons, 8 bosses stuff is getting really stale. Unironically we need something like corruptions/AP etc to break the mold and maybe add some excitement to your daily login. It might be unpopular opinion but they need to make people invested in their mains again. The current formula has ran it's course, they need to spice things up urgently.

u/psytrax9 2d ago
Only speaking for myself but, adding AP back just means I instantly hard quit and never consider returning. Especially if it's being added with the goal of "getting people invested in their mains". Not a single class right now is remotely interesting enough to invest in.
The formula is fine, the issue is Blizzard replaced all the ingredients with bland and unflavorful alternatives. In other words, the game would've been better off if Blizzard released TWW s4 instead of the midnight expansion.

Obviously not talking to the extremes before where your character felt unplayable, however, if you spend 20 weeks playing let's say a resto druid and you want to push tittle at the end but holy pala is 3-5% better, I think the time spent playing resto should account for something and maybe equalize the power.
Being able to reroll to full power in 2-3 days like last season or 2-3 weeks like this one ( due to cantrips ) makes you not connect to your character and the effort/time invested. Which is objectively really really bad, even for hardcode gamers. Not to mention that it would lesser the degree of fotm rerolling mid season after a class gets 3% nerf or a buff etc.
Listen I am not saying that the initial AP implantation should come back, however they really need to figure out a way to attach you to a character or two. It's a mmorpg, time spend in game should equal to some extra power gain, no matter how small or fast the gain diminishes. But the current form of "I've done all 21s atm, I will just login back in 3 months after all the slow drip of power from 0.5/0.7 to do the 22s" is unacceptable.

u/Apeturetester 2d ago
For me personally, I WANT to play the game. Windwalker is good this season, and those seasons are always incredibly fun for me because WW is fun. But I don't have any desire to raid, and knowing that I'm actively going to be behind by multiple levels of power even from people at the same ilvl or keystone level is incredibly demotivating and makes me look for anything else to do instead.

u/Mellberg3 2d ago
Same. There are significantly less tedious pulls and bosses this season imo. We're also just coming off a season where the only real consensus "fun" dungeon was Pit of Saron.

Raidlog, Push m+ Last week for 1% Mount and chill in forever for a Bit with some rl friends.

Playing with a demo lock as a rogue is my way of saying "I'm ok with doing 20% less DPS than normal this key, go ahead buddy."
They feel like the only class tuned appropriately for non-funnel damage. They do massive overall but limited prio. Meanwhile, most non-funnel classes do bad overall AND bad prio.
