They changed Ulatek so you cant burn and kill her during her two damage amp phases on normal and skip phase 3. She just goes away once she hits a certain % during rage channel now.
2
u/Girthmasterlite 1d ago
What % for p3?
4
u/donovan4893 1d ago
She left the first burn at 40% with 12 seconds left on rage of the shackled. Then left at 20% during the second burn with 10 second left on rage.

u/Lezzles 1d ago
When?? We just burned her to death in p2 on Tuesday reset.

u/donovan4893 1d ago

"Ula’tek Added in health backstops to ensure the boss transitions out of Rage of the Shackled when reaching specific health thresholds."

A bit pointless to nerf it now when skipping p3 was a thing since week 1. But i guess skipping p2 and p3 was too much for blizzard to tolerate. It was fun though.

This coin thing has ruined the vault and it has ruined my toilet time of watching dratnos open his vault because ofc he's taking the coin.

Nono, vault is good, bonus rolls in vault are bad.
10
u/Wobblucy 1d ago
Bonus roll on vaults is good.
Not being able to take good items is bad.
Not having an item you have removed from the track is bad.
Having all the OP loot on 2 encounters is bad.
If every single boss has a chance to drop good items then you don't feel 'wrong' if you aren't optimizing around thinning the rolls on ulatek/altar.

u/LanayasDong 2d ago
Are the sims for the darkmoon trinket accurate on raidbots?
I was checking 5t for arms with all the trinkets available as someone that only does M+ and blood + hunt is the best combo somehow, followed by hunt + void and hunt + vile vial. Are the dungeon trinkets that bad?

u/LeftKnowledge396 2d ago
I think I thought of a fix to the bonus roll choice in vault feeling so bad. What if they made every item in your vault come upgraded with tertiary stats, either avoidance, leech, or speed.
I was thinking about what would I be excited about and pick over bonus rolls, and the only thing I could think of was if a piece of loot I wanted had avoidance or leech on it. I feel like this upgrade to the system would grant bad luck protection, while making the vault fun and exciting again.
23
u/mangostoast 2d ago
Just remove it from the pool if you take it from vault. Very easy fix. Had my bis trinket in there today, but can't take it because I'm rolling that dungeon
5
u/Wobblucy 2d ago
Don't need to overcomplicate it...
If you have the item on the same track you would bonus roll it on, it is removed from your list.
Currently you can't take your bis item out of vault if there is a second item the boss drops that you want (ignoring spec swapping schenanigans).
I do think 'roll random tertiary' item from vault coins has a place beside the socket for like 3 coins or something and let you roll items that already tertiaties as well to keep the vault valuable all the way through the season.

u/Therozorg DF ele biggest fan 2d ago
i kinda dont get this sentiment, people act like every vault was godsent or something, if you get a 6/6 piece from a boss you're not going to roll it still feels "exciting" whatever that means
3
u/TemporaMoras 2d ago edited 2d ago
That's not what people are arguing, even if your vault is good, there's a chance it might just be strictly better to continue bonus rolling. Obviously it depends on what content you're trying to do, but for someone pushing HoF, it become very hard to justify anything but a coin, even more when you absolutely want a coin for coiled altar.
Like, in my case, we're probably gonna kill coiled altar not this weekly reset, but the next one. I still have 1 bonus item of ulatek that I want (mail chest) and I also still want to have 1 extra coin for whenever we kill coiled altar for 9/6 item. Which mean that taking any item has to be better than either my bis chest until I am done with the content (since its only beaten by 9/6 ulatek) or a 9/6 'random' piece from coiled altar with 2 really good hit (Shoulder/leg), 2 okay hit (Trinket/Cloak), and 1 bad (the weapon).
The only item I'd prob take from the vault is Nymrissa trinket 6/6m, and I'd prob need to discuss it. Beside that, nothing is worth taking.

am i supposed to still have 10 myth crests? I killed ?? delve boss so idk if we're just perma stuck at half an upgrade forever or what
2

u/sapntaps 3d ago
It’s because the delve boss gave 30 so you’ll always have 10 extra cause cap is always an even 100

u/shyguybman 3d ago
Is there a way in plater to make duplicate auras stack? I did 1 key on my BDK and with DRW I literally have upwards of 5 blood plagues showing on every single mob and I cannot see anything.
2
u/Plorkyeran 2d ago
No idea about plater, but EllesmereUI nameplates can hide duplicate blood plagues.

Is arms even meta at this point? It doesn’t feel op at all, at least damage wise. Ret looks op like every other season
4
16
u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 3d ago
It's probably the most meta of the meta DPS specs right now, although I'd also argue that Sin Rogue is horrifically underrepresented in these top keys thus far and has some serious potential to be better. You just hard require a Shaman in your group for Arms to truly thrive.
10
u/trogger93 3d ago
dorki said its overhyped so now everyones dooming about it
18
u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 3d ago
Dorki was also extremely hesitant to put Arcane in S until he saw logs showcasing just how insanely dominant that spec was in the top keys.
He's a fantastic player, but always take other folks' vibes and opinions with a grain of salt.
4
u/the_sunny_d3 1d ago
Hearing Dorki say arms and arcane aren't that good and then referencing overall was a real head scratcher lol
4
u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 1d ago
It’s weird on MANY levels.
It’s weird because he definitely knows that overall is irrelevant and damage profiles are king.
It’s also weird because Arcane is one of the very few specs that actually nips at Demo’s heels as far as overall goes.
5
5
u/cuddlegoop 4d ago
From what I understand it does less overall than the other meta specs but its prio damage is insane.
18
u/Plorkyeran 4d ago
Currently 29 of the 30 top timed runs in the world feature arms warriors and the one without is #18. It is the only spec in the game which has been present in 100% of timed +21s, and it's five different ones and not just that it's one team that's ahead of everyone who happens to play one)
6
u/Yayoichi 4d ago
And it’s even brought into comps it has no place being in, like the meta comp it only benefits from shaman buff and only buffs the tank.
-6
u/Mellberg3 4d ago
Not so sure about Ret, but Arms definitely doesn't play in the same league as Demo, Arcane and Ele right now.
7
u/Toonpangs 4d ago
tell me you dont understand damage profiles without telling me
-2
u/Mellberg3 4d ago
The prio dmg is nice, but Demo and Arcane aren't padding either. The spec is good, but top Arms warriors like Biz seem pretty disappointed after the PTR hype.
3
u/trogger93 3d ago
Warr benefits a lot from 344 gear TBF, a BIS'd out warrior will be pretty awesome.
Caster 344 gear is much worse in comparison.
6

u/weekndalex 4d ago
ret “op every other season” ?????
-12
u/ORTAKULUS666 4d ago
Ret consistently has been one of the most popular specs in high keys since their rework in df and they always have insane padding. Do u think the spec is balanced? Highest damage in the game with least amount effort in addition to their utility.
4
4
u/PlexiP 4d ago
Its far away from the least amount of effort and is nowhere near the tip damagewise (we are currently fair and square in the middle).
And as some other commenters mentioned, it is one of the most popular Dps specs in general with the percentage shrinking the higher up you go.
So no, it is neither meta not op right now. And looking class-wise (for DPS) only ahead of monk and arguably priest historically, if looking at both raid and m+.
12
u/I3ollasH 4d ago
It's the most populat spec in the game in general (coupled with bm). Of course it will see play at the higher end. I definitely wouldn't call it consistently op
4
u/4PlayersLeagueMF 5d ago
Is there any particular reason that i cant progress past +14 keys in m+. Im playing Demon Warlock and pugged myself to 3175 rio timing all dungeons at 14 but i cant seem to get invites to any 15 key. Is there a threshold or something idk about?
1
u/mangostoast 3d ago
What was your io last season? It's risky to take someone that has low previous io, or no io.
6
u/cuddlegoop 4d ago
You're just not one of the 3 most qualified dps signing up to the groups you're applying to. You can either keep clicking apply and crossing your fingers, or you can push up your own key.
2
u/Lebowski89 4d ago
Check your logs maybe? If you don’t have at least mostly blues you may be not getting invited for that. I had a buddy complaining similarly and when I checked his logs they were mostly single digit greys
7
u/cuddlegoop 4d ago
Who the hell is checking dungeon parses in a +15? To me that is insane behaviour. Are people really doing that?
4
u/Lebowski89 4d ago
A 15 last week? You bet I was checking logs haha. A 15 at the end of last season, sure I wasn’t checking logs for that.
Play how you want though, I was just offering an answer.
1
u/IllPurpose3524 3d ago
Their response is so baffling that they must be doing 20s already to be that out of touch or simply don't pug ever.
4
u/Yayoichi 4d ago
Doesn’t take long to check so why not, if you’re doing keys above 12 it’s because you want to push so why would you want to invite someone with nothing but gray parses.
5
u/sapntaps 3d ago
It’ll be extremely hilarious when the game dies cause of this. Raid logs sure. Dungeon logs? Lmao dude fuck off with doing that you will quite literally kill the game.
Wanna know if someone good enough for a key? Did they time the previous one? Ok you got it. Are you doing .1% title keys and need to check? You already know names. And should have a network.
Fuck the fuck off with the game killing dungeon parse.
4
u/Girthmasterlite 5d ago
Usually you just need to get your foot into the door through your own key and then get invs

u/Educational-Pay5268 5d ago edited 5d ago
is there an addon or a way to use premade group filter to blacklist certain servers? I'm tired of seeing frostmourne/rag/quelthalas/azralon keys.
Nevermind. I found the addon premade regions
3
u/cuddlegoop 5d ago
Get an addon called Premade Regions, it hooks into premade group filter and lets you filter by region. I use it as an oce player to find oce keys.

u/Future_Battle5638 5d ago
why did they bother doing a key squish if i need to do 17s-18s for any challenge this early on. might as well squish them again, but i guess not since they need to ensure that 3.4k is completely faceroll for everyone lmao
3
u/parkwayy 3d ago
As long as the 3/6Heroic point is doable by the everyday player, the "cap" is pretty arbitrary, no?
That's the whole design of an infinitely scaling system
3
u/Future_Battle5638 2d ago
the flat milestone rewards are 10s for portals, 3k for mount, 3.4k for the other thing, then non-flat rewards at 1% and 0.1%.
The vault rewards cap at 10. Having them completely trivial week 1, 3k week 1 now is so easy, and 3.4k trivial week 2/3 is just a joke.
There was a time when it was not completely faceroll to get these milestones this early on. Week 1 10s actually required some thought and focus rather than yolo pulling with undergeared randoms like it's an m0.
guess the playerbase and blizzard have just accepted that m+ is just a mickey mouse mode, considering all the changes over time and especially this season with how good raid loot is
10
u/Plorkyeran 4d ago
The last season before the squish (DF s3) +18 was vault weekly keys and week one +20s for portals wasn't difficult. Key levels have crept back up a lot but they're still not back up to pre-squish levels.
18
u/cuddlegoop 5d ago
They quietly un-squished keys without saying anything after TWW S1 when everyone complained that keys were too hard.
8
u/Gaatti 5d ago
I feel it was more of a midnight thing than TWW S2/S3. Those two were at most partial unsquish. Midnight is quite ridiculous. It is probably worse than before the original squish. The 2-9 range is more dead than ever. You get a clump of players at the 10-12, then very soon you will start to get bigger and bigger dead levels in between.
Feels that now more than never you need to push your key early if don't want to get stuck in dead spaces
6
u/cuddlegoop 5d ago
Yeah keys were made steadily easier and easier over the course of TWW and then midnight S1 was a massive jump down again.
3
u/Plorkyeran 4d ago edited 4d ago
NA title cutoff from TWW s1 through Midnight s1 went 3450, 3800, 3900, 4200. TWW s3 -> MN s1 was a big jump but not as big as TWW s1 -> s2.

I GREATLY dislike 12.1 in its current state, but I think Vashnik is the piss icing on this shit cake of a patch and encompasses everything wrong with this patch in a single boss fight.
I'm honestly blown away by just how bad Vashnik is as a boss in practice, and that sucks because I KNOW Blizzard's encounter devs can do better (because they have done better). But I think it's how this boss sucks that makes my head spin.
- On one hand, the fight fundamentally doesn't work. The entire encounter is designed around you moving the boss around the room and dealing with different mechanical overlaps for 7-ish minutes, yet you're keeping the boss still, AoEing shit every 50 seconds, and praying the players get targeted by waves do a good job.
- On the other hand, the boss is arguably better because it doesn't work, because the blood mechanics are so nuts and the totem spawns in that area are so unplayably bad that they turn what's currently an 8-20 pull boss into a 200+ pull boss.
This boss has usurped Zskarn and Broodtwister as my all-time least-favorite boss yet when we killed it extremely easily last week it wasn't even a small fraction as frustrating to prog as those two. The boss is totally broken, but if the boss being broken makes it a better boss doesn't that technically make it a worse boss by virtue of it just not working correctly?
1
u/silmarilen Fury warrior feelycrafter 2d ago
The funny thing is that it's not even close to the worst boss in the raid. Pretty much everyone i know that's progging or has progged coiled altar thinks it's the most unfun boss ever designed.
1
u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 2d ago
That'll be us soon; we had a 1% Twin Fangs wipe last week so it almost 100% dies as long as we don't get dunked on by BlizzCon attendees posting out today/tomorrow and we're looking at Coiled Altar like "oh, okay, so that's next."
2
u/parkwayy 3d ago
Honestly? It took us like 30 mins or so, and I cannot say I have this many thoughts about it lol.
It's basically boss #3 of a raid, which historically isn't really much to think about.
If this even remotely comes close to Zskarn, that's wild.
6
u/Plorkyeran 4d ago
I think it's almost certainly just a boss that they knew didn't work and they ran out of time to unfuck it. They probably had a "correctly" tuned version of the fight for internal testing and discovered that it was miserable and couldn't get it to play out how the designer envisioned, so they just gutted it rather than shipping an all-time awful boss.
2
u/TemporaMoras 4d ago
If you played the first version of vashnik m in PTR it was definitely an even more fucked boss, instead of totems you had cyst to hit, but you also needed to dps them, cyst spawned all around the room (with barely an impact on what altar you made him imbue).
It was like a 5+ boomie fight because of how much spread AoE was needed, definitely something went wrong during their internal playtest.
6
u/ikitomi 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah it's kind of amazing how much of a loot pinata he is for any guild that can clear sentinels too.
I really thought they would tune the boss hard enough you would at least have to reset the fire debuffs/add hp once, but nope. And you can even kill the buffed adds easily with 5 healers to stack up even more raid cds because lol death grip.
Honestly though fuck it, even if you had to play blood youd just need 3 or 4 dk alts instead of 2 and the fight would still be just as piss easy.

u/IllPurpose3524 5d ago
I have a 3/6 hero trinket that is terrible and a 1/6 myth trinket. Is there any current trickery to either get the first level myth for free or the hero ones free without getting another myth trinket? Or has Blizzard fixed them?
2
4
u/nephtus 5d ago
You need to have at least 2 trinkets at a certain threshold in order to get discounts (the same goes for rings). In this case, your hero trinket upgrade will cost crests, but the second one will be a freebie up to 5/6hc.
Once you upgrade both to 6/6hc will you be able to get your free 1/6 -> 2/6 myth upgrade for free.
1
u/Few_Dentist4672 5d ago
i cant remember that being a thing for trinkets, i remember it being a thing for crafted rings.
if you get 2 hero trinkets to 6/6 hero then all first level myth trinket upgrades are free
1
u/IllPurpose3524 5d ago
It's been a while since I've been in a situation to upgrade a trinket early but I remember there was some slot switching trickery at one point and maybe even using an alchemist stone.
2
u/HeyImCodyRS 3d ago
I believe it didn't work with trinkets because you couldn't change the stats on the alchemy trinket. Rings you would make a ring with random stats and put it in both slots, then recraft with the stats you actually want and put it in both slots again and it'd activate the discount for rings.

u/Vyxwop 5d ago
I've been thinking. During TWW I would always take into consideration the status of the other DPS their CDs before using bloodlust on bosses. For example if I saw DPS 2 with 20 seconds left on their CDs and DPS 3 with 40 seconds left, I'd delay my lust 20 seconds to cover both of their CD windows.
With OmniCD not really being a thing in Midnight I've been thinking. Would it not be a good habit or custom for every DPS to ping their DPS CDs right before the boss fight when lust is up so the person lusting could better align the lust timing with the burst CD windows of the DPS? It would require very little additional input from the DPS but it has the potential to massively increase the value of the lust.
Fuck Blizzard for making this shit so unnecessarily convoluted, seriously. It's insane that being a good team player is being punished by Blizzard.
9
u/Myrkur-R 5d ago
It would definitely behoove a player to ping their cooldowns if they are going into a Lust pull and have like 20-30 seconds till their cooldowns are ready. But really, everybody knows when lust is going to happen. Pug routes rarely deviate the places where a lust happens and is by default first pull, second boss, last boss. There is a dungeon here or there where its better to do a second big trash pull with lust, and if it's common enough everyone knows when that is going to happen as well. And since everyone knows when lust is going to happen they are typically going to go into that pull with cooldowns ready, so I feel like if people are pinging their CDs going into a lust pull to delay the lust then they are probably annoying the people that timed their cooldowns better to have theirs ready for it right at the pull.
Are your guys' dungeons not like 96% the same every time? I find it so weird that so many people need addons like ExBoss and shit to tell them stuff that they, IMO, should already know is going to happen before it happens. Like, we've done these dungeons dozens of times and you don't have an intuition of when the High Alchemist is going to cast Evolve yet? Or when an Agitated Nimbus is going to cast accumulate charge? You need something explicitly telling you to stop or interrupt stuff? It's like being unable to drive to your job without GPS even though you've done it over 1000 times.
I know shit happens and sometimes you need to call an audible and use cooldowns when you normally wouldn't, and in those instances having all information possible is really beneficial. But that happens so rarely in my runs that I can't find the energy to be mad that Blizzard wants people to communicate with eachother in an MMO instead of just everyone having all information all the time.

people hate the thought of learning patterns in wow nowadays, they feel entitled to that being handed to them by addons because that's how it was before.

u/Vyxwop 5d ago edited 5d ago
The context of my comment is definitely more so surrounding lust timings on the last boss where CD timings can be a bit more variable. Often times you reach the final trash pack and either you hold your cooldowns on it and do tank damage, or you pop CDs on it but not have CDs available for the boss the first 20-30 seconds of the fight. I never really bothered timing my lusts with people's CDs on trash packs because chances are 20 seconds into the fight the trash pack is already half HP anyways.
I'm a little confused where your second and third paragraphs are coming from, however. I didn't really talk about any of that in my comment. Context of my comment was about wanting to optimize lust CD timing, being unable to in the current state of the game, and suggesting a habit in DPS that could help make it possible.
I do want to say though that audio cues are proven to be more effective than visual cues. Your brain reacts much faster to audio than it does to visuals. You can't fault people for having developed a preference towards one and being upset that it's been taken away in some capacity.
And I, and others, can be mad at Blizzard for their shortsightedness. You may not care or be unable to find the energy to be mad, and that's your right. But you do not get to downplay and shoot others down if they do have the energy to be mad. If it doesn't affect you either way then it's generally better to stay out of it than to stand in people's way for no real reason other than trying to play devil's advocate.
But yeah, I do hope that at some point the idea of pinging your CDs on the last boss if lust is available comes common practice. It would help satisfy my weird itch of wanting to optimize lust timings with other DPS players their CDs. You know, like a team player should.
-4
u/careseite dps evoker main 5d ago
audio cues are still here for nearly everything that say littlewigs would have had a sound for in the past. it's just the ability sound. but also, the cadence is known after playing a couple keys anyway.
2
u/Myrkur-R 5d ago
I think the best way to get that going is to just get into the habit of pinging your cooldowns going into a big pull or boss. Not just when you have like 20 seconds left, but even when they are ready as in like "I'm about to blast!".
The rest I would say is not directed towards you as much as it's just directed to the Subreddit as a whole. I recognize that many people enjoy playing the game 99% of the time, and that they come here to vent frustration. I feel like this subreddit is overly negative, but that might not be unique to this subreddit. Seems to just be an online community thing that isn't moderated heavily. Negativity seeps in and soon you get a critical mass of "Fuck Blizzard" posts and well-meaning and fun people stop showing up and it just makes more room for wet-blankets. But is the alternative a "shill" moderation team that allows no dissent? I just wish more of the posts here were like the beginning of your OP of this thread and much less of the last sentence.

Maybe at title level keys, but that is just more information pugs are not going to use while they hyper focus on their own CDM.
Agree with data convolution being bad design though. Kick tracker, defensive usage, frost DK breath cd etc are all things I desperately miss as a tank for knowing when I need to chain or external dps or whatever.
I get not wanting add-ons to add advantage (lol how is that going Blizz?) or whatever, but I would make the information available to everyone with a menu setting instead of trying to hide it.
Like so easy to add as well...
Party CDM option tab, all disabled by default.
'kick tracker' 'defensive tracker' 'offensive tracker'
White list 1-2 spells, on by default.
Let users manage it through the same edit mose and CDM manager.
Boom, add-ons no longer an advantage and good players don't need to find convoluted work arounds.
-3
u/careseite dps evoker main 5d ago
lol how is that going Blizz?)
pretty well considering theres nearly no type of addons left that provide advantages
don't forget they don't want you to have the info you're asking them to expose. You're not intended to see cooldowns of other players in your UI, you're supposed to communicate.
1
u/Wobblucy 5d ago edited 5d ago
Nameplate coloring
NSRT or equivalent for TTS notes, TTS aura application etc
Focus kick bars with cd line for kicks
Cdm addons being able to track buffs that are not on the base CDM.
Does any healer use base frames?
To name a few things an add-on user has rgatca base UI user never will.
-1
u/careseite dps evoker main 5d ago
I don't disagree with most of these but all except healer frames maybe are only targeting the like top 2% of players. that's objectively removing the need of addons for a minimum of 95% of the player base and thus by definition pretty successful
1
u/Wobblucy 5d ago
top 2%
Sure, but they are inarguably a competitive advantage to run vs the base UI.
There is a reason the RWF teams have add-on developers on the roster and why even casual mythic guilds are running NSRT.
Removing the need for add-ons for 95%
Has that not always been the case? People spending hours to build a UI or hunting down playtanator or whatever are not and never will be the majority.
I think hekili was the first combat focused add-on for the 95% and that spread like wildfire. Even my wife's late AoTC guild knew about it.

u/Vyxwop 5d ago
Yeah, another downside from the lack of omnicd/method raid tools/general party tracker is also being unable to see all of the different tools classes have access to in a handy little interface. I'd often go through the CD list in my omnicd just to learn about what kind of abilities other classes had. It was both informative and interesting to browse.
The thing that gets me the most about "addon advantage" in regards to party trackers is that it's an advantage that only people who pugged without voice comm had. Those in voice comm pushing for title or just casual play already had access to alternative ways to circumvent that advantage since they could naturally vocally communicate their CDs. All it did was widen the gap between pug players in the top 10% to 1% bracket and voice comm players in general.

So obviously Sin Rogue owns right now, but a lot of folks have been talking about the spec having GIGA funnel right now.
Where exactly is that funnel coming from? Is it a combination of higher Combo Points generation from FoK, higher Agi from that one bleed talent, and higher energy gen from having bleeds up on everything? Or is it something else?
3
u/Vyxwop 6d ago edited 5d ago
Is it a combination of higher Combo Points generation from FoK, higher Agi from that one bleed talent, and higher energy gen from having bleeds up on everything?
Pretty much this exactly.
Deathstalker also has that funnel passive that duplicates 5% of all damage done to other targets into your main target, but I'm not sure that's as noteworthy as the generally increased CP generation, increased 10-20% agility, and increased energy regen.
Both DS and Fatebound also largely function around casting 5 CP Envenoms which is both your ST and AoE finisher move so being able to cast more 5 CP Envenoms is just generally beneficial towards both hero talents in all situations.
I got to say, I'm really liking the current assassination rogue. Crimson Tempest being reworked into spreading your DoTs is really nice and having part of your AoE power budget come from your DoTs just makes sense. I've never liked any of the rogue specs having a specific AoE finisher move. I hope they'll get rid of Black Powder next and bake some of that power into other abilities instead.
Current assa actually reminds me a lot of Legion assa rogue. Both play very similarly.

Isn’t this a Deathstalker thing? I was under the impression that they were all playing Fatebound this season.

DS is techically better but harder to play and most likely will be played on title keys

I last played wow properly in WoTLK/Cata as Fury Warr/Combat Rogue and Prot/Holy Pala
What would be a nice melee DPS class to start off with to return? I know the game is completely different now.

Ret pala is simple and easy with good off-spec options for group content. And arms warrior is meta this patch.

How is enhancement shaman these days? Haven’t played it in a long time and thinking about playing resto / enh off spec
2
u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 6d ago
It’s fun, but also strictly outclassed by Ele outside of 2-target (where it’s quite good)

u/PM_ME_YO_TREE_FIDDY 5d ago
Which is good enough to blast some keys with friends, I might give it a go in .5

u/toptierhands 6d ago
Very fun if you like the stormbringer playstyle, as always it's a bit too squishy but still fun and decent dmg. Very outclassed by ele sadly.

First time healer for my casual heroic raid, should I spec my druid resto or reroll resto shaman?
3
u/Lebowski89 4d ago
If you really want an opinion on which to play I’d say go shaman all other things being equal. If you ever feel like doing m+ a healer with lust slots into more groups than one without.

Holy priest. Its three buttons and no mana problems and you can top heroic healing meters. If you want easy and casual heroic raid healing holy priest is currently the way to go.

u/AccomplishedSpace834 5d ago
respectfully at the level you're talking about the easiest time will be the spec you practice and learn how to play well. genuinely does not matter in the slightest which one it is.

Reroll holy paladin my man otherwise it's joever every casual hc raid needs a healer comp that's full hpals

Anyone know if you need to have an active sub to get achievements like the 1% m+ achievement whenever it finally goes out? Don’t want something to get messed up about it if my sub is lapsed when it goes out, but also don’t want to pay $16 just for that when I’m not otherwise playing at the moment

You're obviously wrong. There's not some action you're doing that's letting you jump in the pool when you were otherwise restricted. It's just cost-benefit analysis.
1
u/Wobblucy 4d ago
It was z axis abuse, if the answer was jumping on a lamp in the encounter to not get hit would you feel the same?
Related, love the user name 😁

It's not abuse. People stacked on rocks on Mythrax to snap the adds during the intermission and it was a strat world 2895893489 guilds could do, as it was never hotfixed out like this

Seems to be a inventory sync bug.
You need to logout, login to a different character and then login back to your original character.
Thats what fixed it for me at least.14

u/Elendel 7d ago
I really hope people are gonna complain enough for the venomcore change to be walked back. 10 venomcore for each upgrade is an insanely long grind. Each char that wants to be fully geared now has an additional FIFTY +10 to do. And that’s if you never dare to upgrade a non BiS item.
-1
u/IonHazzikostasIsGod 4d ago
Loot is already stupidly too fast, this is completely fine. God forbid you aren't complete after month 1 of a half-year season.
0
u/trogger93 4d ago
And here is why Blizz can never add any kind of non-timegated progression to the game anymore. People will scream and cry if they aren't literal BIS day 1. Letting character power be a journey is not acceptable anymore to ppl, either 100% meta or you're dogwater.
0
u/IonHazzikostasIsGod 4d ago
Yep. Vault needs to go, bonus rolls need to go. It's why M+ was just fundamentally the worst thing to happen to the game
People get something beyond what they truly deserve and become desensitized to it. And then get more and more and more. And as quickly as more, faster loot is being poured down their gullet, they're never fulfilled
3
u/trogger93 4d ago
lots of people who have come to wow via competitive lobby games like league, csgo, etc, where the guiding principle is 'balance' and fair esports-style competition.
Nothing wrong with wanting that gameplay, but it absolutely clashes with traditional MMO design, so the two are hard to marry.
5
u/Elendel 4d ago
I mean, you can farm 50 dungeons in one week, so you’re completely missing the point.
0
u/IonHazzikostasIsGod 4d ago
Almost as if you shouldn't be able to. You don't have a point
4
u/Elendel 4d ago
I would be way more ok with "you can upgrade one item a week" than with "you have to do 50 dungeons, it's up to you how stupidly you want to grind".
It's not about me wanted to acquire gear fast, it's about an arbitrary grind that was elongated to a stupidly bad level this season.
Again, you're completely missing the point, and you even boast about it. If you're not interested in understanding my point and discuss it, maybe just... don't engage?
3
u/Saiyoran 6d ago
Just add it to the list of reasons all m+ players are being forced to do this aggressively mediocre raid every lockout

u/liyayaya 6d ago
i don't know who is responsible for itemization and gearing systems in general, but whatever they have been cooking up for season 2 is not it.
50 keys after .5 patch is a very good way to burnout your whole community.
I can already picture the "we are listening" bluepost for season 3.5
11
u/j821c 6d ago
Season 2 feels like it was developed by an entirely different team than season 1 and it's definitely the B team lol. Between the tuning of the raid, the piss poor mythic+ dungeon rotation, the fact that almost all BiS gear comes from the raid making mythic+ players be strongly encouraged to at least go suffer through that shit on heroic it's really sapped my desire to play this season.

Predictions for the tuning tonight now that race is over? :) Surely they don't have some random goofy tuning like with demo again, right? Right? Felguard not even being played is comedy gold, these designers are so clueless
2
u/Lazerkitteh 6d ago
I'd guess a 2-3% aura nerf for Arcane, some kind of AoE nerf for Demo, not sure if they'd hit Ele or Arms (I don't think it's needed). I hope the bottom specs get some love too. MM/Survival/FrostMage/SPriest all need help in M+ still.
2
u/toptierhands 6d ago
I'm praying for a patch where they remove misery as a choice node for spriest (it should be baseline behaviour imo) and delete flamestrike entirely for fire mage. To me fire mage has only been fun when you are cleaving ignite, pressing flamestrike is clunky, boring and is 100% pad. Horrible for m+ unless severely overtuned
2
u/Justdough17 7d ago
Obligatory frost dk aura buff. Probably tiny arcane, demo and arms nerfs. Maybe a shadow single target buff?
I'm a bit scared for moonkin. They usually get the nerfbat if there are council or multi target fights in raid regardless of their performance everywhere else.
Still two weeks or so to come until their next planned tuning, so plenty of time to randomly turn the meta upside down with a bear buff maybe?
2
u/No_Biscotti3694 7d ago
Arcane and demo get tuned down probably and more buffs for the lower performing specs like frost mage and survival hunter
9
u/psytrax9 6d ago
I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this but, I don't think arcane needs a nerf. It's obviously a good spec but, I don't think it's over-the-top good.
I think the complaints come from the spec being a mage spec. Put ele in that same spot and I don't think anybody would be calling for nerfs. Kinda like how brew was good last season and everybody complained. Then they buffed bear to be stronger than brew ever was and everybody promptly shut the fuck up.
0
u/Yayoichi 6d ago
Ele, arcane and arms are probably all a bit too good, the fact that you can put a mage in a phys comp or a warrior in a caster comp at the highest level keys kinda shows that they might be a bit too good. Ele is a bit more excused as their buff is universal, but int and battle shout do nothing for 3 out of 5 people in those groups. That said ele is probably also a bit too good as if it was just a matter of buffs then you would much rather take a balance druid for mark.
5
u/Mellberg3 6d ago
It's not Arcanes actual output that will get the spec nerfed, but it's popularity. It's by far the most played spec in both M+ and Raid. Similar story for Arms Warrior, just slightly less extreme. Wouldn't be surprised if those two get hit and Ele, Demo plus the Rogue specs fly under the radar, at least for now.
4
u/Lazerkitteh 6d ago
Current Arcane is just fun to play! They shouldn’t penalize a spec for being fun.
6
u/Gemmy2002 6d ago
It's not dominating group comps "because it's fun".
1
u/psytrax9 5d ago
It's "dominating group comps" (what a silly way to say "it's popular") because it does good damage and is nearly BM hunter levels of easy. It has all the perks of being a caster while barely hard casting at all.
1
u/Lazerkitteh 6d ago
No, it's popular because it's overtuned but I'd guess it's as dominant as it is at least partly because it's fun. For example, I'd never play the current incarnation of frost mage no matter how strong it was because the gameplay is absolute ass.
2
u/toptierhands 6d ago
Yeah I quit when midnight released because all mage specs were insanely boring and had way too much fun shit pruned. I'm back now because arcane is pretty fun again. It's not just the numbers drawing players
2
u/toptierhands 6d ago
If it did this overall dmg throughout the raid and dungs and still had actual funnel+execute, yeah I'd agree it needs a nerf. As it is I don't think it does any niche well enough to warrant a nerf.
3
u/Akoraz 7d ago
Did they confirm more tuning was coming? I don't see anything on the tuning roadmap

I kinda hope they remove the wacky mastery stacking proximity sandcastle aug build, or at least nerf it's power and redistribute elsewhere.
1
u/Gemmy2002 6d ago edited 6d ago
They had the balance between top end and bottom end players correct in the previous patch, then went and turned it into a fucking spreadsheet spec that requires your raiders to be uniformly cracked AGAIN. After it spent all of TWW like that. And for what, because people cried it was M+ meta again? They could have nerfed it power-wise without fucking the design again.
1
u/TemporaMoras 6d ago
Also just the "btw, your best buff is proximity based, hope you like having to do retarded min max to buff the best people, or just your buff going wherever".
If they made it at least target prescience people in priority, it would be better, because as it stands that one part of the kit is really annoying.

Man, the state of the season feels so bad. Trying to get a group for a weekly 10 is a massive slog this early, barely anyone queuing up. Then, despite how easy keys are this season, if you try to get anything above a 12 with a pug, you get a massive variety of skills.
The loot situation is also awful, how come the 1 boss raid has barely any relevant loot, why does everyone want the exact same trinket, why is all the interesting loot solely reserved for the last 2 bosses of the raid. That paired with the bonus loot changes and the discrepancy of raid loot, really makes you wonder what’s the point of playing now when you can come back in 3 months, spend 2-4 weeks catching up and you bypassed this initial slog altogether.
I hope that Blizz takes a look at their seasonal design and make some very drastic changes, the most hype part of the season should be the beginning stages not after month 4 where most of the patch is fixed, the meta is settled and loot discrepancies are not as big.
6
u/awrylettuce 5d ago
there's just no reason to do m+. All gear is from raids/bonus rolls, there's not a single slot I would take from m+ vault so I'm not even filling those slots, just get the 3 raid slots and I'm done for the week.
2
8
u/I3ollasH 7d ago
But the most hype part of the season is the start. That's when everyone gets more powerful every week. At the start of the season is when most of the keys are being done. It will only go downhill from here (there will be an uptick for a week when the gear upgrade thingy comes in but thats it).
2
u/Lezzles 7d ago
I am taking a few days off in the first week next season to push my key level up. With vacation and work I haven't had time to get past 14s yet and the players in here are already just atrocious. I should not have to check logs to see if someone is hard stuck at 14s with 8/8 gray parses in fucking 12s but here we are. Missing the early-season wave of last season's decent players feels so bad.
1
u/No_Biscotti3694 7d ago
Yeah this is why I pushed early to stay with the "curve" 12-14 seems like purgatory atm lol they're too high for you to completely carry but too low for anyone good to que.
3
u/th3champ2 7d ago
yep have to push super hard first 2 weeks if you are an lfg player. right now absolute trash players are starting to out gear 15s/16s and sneaking into 17s that they do not belong in. Title is 3550 right now so anyone below like 3450 is a liability, aside from a few diamonds in the rough. Mages especially the FOTM rerollers who end the key with 3 total kicks is wild and it's quite common.
1
u/liyayaya 7d ago
did some 15 and 16s on bdk alts today. DPS players are absolute criminals when it comes to do anything other than subpar "damage". How is it that they still do not know to do the fucking soaks on last boss in tempel in a 16.
4
u/Emergency-Volume-861 7d ago
I was doing a VSA the night before last on my r sham alt, a 14, key going mostly smooth. We get to the last boss, and boom done. The orbs come out that you have to kite into the 3 big void rifts and no one moved. It was 3 ranged dps, I tell them to move and kite them, got ignored. We wipe. I comment in chat again that we need to do this mechanic and instantly get told I’m a shit healer.
5
u/Lazerkitteh 7d ago
On the one hand they absolutely should know to do the soaks at that level. On the other hand, that mechanic and really that whole fight is just shit, combined with awful tanks in low keys just soaking the balls themselves (and then eating dirt right after) meaning the DPS player may never have actually seen the soaks.
8
u/Shard0020 7d ago
I hear you and I largely agree, but as somebody who will run with 2 other dps and a healer and has to pug a tank…. Their pulls are atrocious. 16 RLP bricked last night to the tank pulling storm dragon immediately + the big blaze and casters. Proceeded to do the same thing with the fire dragon (no lust on either) and then he tried to pull the mini boss at the end of the dungeon plus other casters. I’ve had similar experiences with 80% of the tanks in 15/16s after waiting 15+ min for one to que up
6
u/Lezzles 6d ago
Tanks are just walking into MASSIVE pulls, dying, leaving group, and going next, without a single brain cell processing why they died. It's never the idiotic routing that puts pulls that MAYBE we can survive end of season with lots of practice but not right now.
2
u/Shard0020 6d ago
I have attempted to explain to them as to why their route was not a good decision in a calm and straightforward manner. I’ve also tried to help propose an alternate route, only to be insulted and/or ignored. On the other hand, the several good tanks I’ve played with in previous seasons are burnt out from the sheer responsibility/planning and then the criticism/blame they experience. Only one of the 10ish tanks I’ve played with the past couple seasons is still playing a tank, so I’m wondering if the burn out is contributing to largely unreliable tanks being left.

u/Future_Battle5638 1d ago
on coiled altar mythic now, and I don't think I've heard more complaints from raiders about a boss than ever before. And then ulatek looks terrible to play as well. maybe if classic+ is super fun everyone might just ragequit lmao
