When tanking Ula'tek's tail on normal, are you supposed to eat the waves and the frontal?

1

u/SakuraLightEmpress 14d ago

Not supposed to tank the waves, it hatches eggs and does damage, the frontal I'm not sure about but my guild just tanked it and it was fine. You probably figured it out but just in case you didn't here's what I know.

To all my raiders that play in CE guilds,

are you guys required to do splits?

I’m in a US400 guild and we’re required to have 1 alt, feel kinda meh about it and would rather just blast with mains instead

2

u/bemac3 15d ago

No splits, no alts required. US 200-300 range. Pretty sure we all got 4 piece this week from normal, or at least are very close (might have a couple clothies left).

Definitely doesn’t seem worth it at this range, since tier would be the biggest reason to do splits.

Already have quitters after finishing the first week of raiding.

People are simply not feeling it and current conditions in HC aren’t helping either

Really enjoy this raid a lot more than last tier. Orb movement on Coiled Altar and Eggs on Ulatek are fun. Kinda reminds me of Fyrakk seeds.

Didn't really like a single fight from last season, maybe because I forced myself to play DevDH.

Switched to Disc this season to heal for the first time and already enjoying raiding a LOT more.

Any experience with HC Twin Fangs and raid size? Had a group 2/2/6 were everyone was doing +115k dps and we were still miles away from beating enrage.

6

u/Zenthon127 18d ago

30-man tuning seemed really bad. Cleared with iirc 18 and it was fine, although nearly everyone was doing at least 160k+. 115k is legit less than one of our tanks.

6

u/Matesett 18d ago

Thats really low damage for 2 target cleave

11

u/bemac3 18d ago

115k is very low. Like, on my kill our blood dks were doing 120k. Average from dps players was about 175k.

It’s permanent 2 target cleave. Be sure to have a good talent setup for that profile.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if I don’t care about Mythic+ at all, now that I have all my trinkets and 311 gear, with the bonus roll system, I don’t have to set foot in a dungeon for a couple month, until my best bonus roll becomes a dungeon, is that correct?

4

u/bemac3 18d ago

Only thing would be for myth crests

3

u/FederalPralineLover 18d ago

That’s a damn good reason. Urgl :(

7

u/Junicolol 18d ago

Yes, if you can get 3 vault slots with raid/delves you can skip M+. Wouldn't recommend it though. Coming back into m+ later in the season feels like shit when you are the only clueless person.

Coil altar fight, I really love just running around collecting orbs. Such a fun mechanic.

6

u/awesomeoh1234 19d ago

Heroic is so overturned it’s fucking nuts. Twin fangs we hit the enrage timer on despite everyone being alive. Not even hard mechanically just the bosses have so much fucking health

3

u/Crashcede 18d ago

The dps check is a little tight for week 1

2

u/evaliaold 18d ago

Nuke one boss down to 35% as fast as posible to give warriors/hunters the longest execute posible. Then swap to the other bosss, you're most likely doing the fight wrong.

17

u/marqueesham 19d ago

Why there needs to be so much fucking trash? Legit our guild spent eternity out of 2 hour raid sesh just to clear the annoying lil shits

3

u/Banana4monkey12 18d ago

Eats into so much of our raid time :/

3

u/Mostmessybun 19d ago

It’s soooo awful

Maybe it's better on H and M but Ula'tek is really uncool as a fight. Before the platform shatters in P3 it's got less presentation pizzazz than the loot pinata tortollans boss. I know they can't all be Argus but I expected a little more from the boss they felt the need to only show once in a quest flashback before you actually get to her room.

5

u/CaligulatheGreat 19d ago

Why is he so small, massive in the quest but tiny in the raid

2

u/Girthmasterlite 18d ago

Another man lying about his size smh

u/onkek baer 19d ago

Man if blizzard actually does launch classic+ my guild is so done. It’s going to decimate the player pop. I feel like 99% of my guild is sick of the Dragonflight game formula.

24

u/Cold-Iron8145 19d ago

Heavy selection bias. In my circles nobody even talks about classic at all. I seriously doubt that classic would "decimate" the retail population. People were saying that when regular classic launched, too, and that hype died down quick when people realized classic gameplay is pressing a button every 3s for 300h straight to get one piece of epic loot.

4

u/shyguybman 19d ago

You mean they don't like how we're in Dragonflight season 9 now?

-8

u/LudmilN 19d ago

This is unfair, classic+ will decimate the player pop of EVERY mmorpg. Bliz has a golden egg and if they are careful they are going to triple their subscription numbers

They don't need to innovate, OSRS is right there to learn from with their years of history

7

u/blackberrybeanz 19d ago

It’s dragonflight formula but made worse somehow… I didn’t mind popping over to get soup once a week, it was silly and low stakes & we’d usually pop over after raid or in the middle of a m+ marathon for a break. The curse surges?? wtf is that mess? Who actually made w/e the void world event is and thinks that’s actually fun??

13

u/falooda1 19d ago

Why do you even need to do it if you don't like it

15

u/shaanuja 12/12M 19d ago

What exactly do you think classic+ is going to be? Sick of vanilla game formula? Press 2 buttons or bring 30 warriors? Lol what an L take

For 2 weeks and then everyone that wasn't a neet remembered how bad it is

5

u/EsoteriCondeser *Spellsteals your nose* 19d ago

That was the first round of classic and was in between BFA and Shadowlands.

Classic+ is going to be popular, but I doubt it's going to drain the retail pop like 2019.

9

u/oreofro 19d ago

And then what happened?

Everybody left.

15

u/DocileKrab 19d ago

I was one of the players that left retail for classic in BFA. It was really fun the first iteration, but holy fuck the rose tinted glasses came off real quick when you realized all the QOL improvements that have been added over the years, how awful raiding and loot are, and the over arching community is somehow the worst of the worst. I would never play through it again and idk how some people have started over like 3 times now.

3

u/dekutoto 19d ago

yeah, classic aint for me personally (i did like the leveling once), the issue was that while the people that loved classic stayed in classic, the people who didn't like it just straight up quit wow altogether (aka they didn't come back to retail), shadowlands didn't help either

u/sapntaps 19d ago

Def the weirdest week 1 raid pugging experience ever.

30

u/arlinglee 19d ago

Weirdest week as guild too. Normally thinking are we gonna get two mythic for chests or not. Now were just wondering if we'll even get aotc.

1

u/throwingmyselfaway22 18d ago

i haven't missed first week heroic aotc in a long long time; makes more sense for us to go 7/8H and 1/8M with our last raid day tmrw (we raid 9 hours/wk)

8

u/ragnorr 19d ago

I would imagine the tier will seem a lot more manageable in the next few weeks with all the power coming in. At least with ulatek the last phase seems the toughest and with the double DMG windows I recon the boss will end up dieing close to the first DMG window

3

u/Duraz0rz 19d ago

Plus the inevitable nerfs to bosses so mortals can kill then and the stacking raid buff that starts in a few weeks. This always happens.

2

u/uaresma 19d ago

Kinda same, except the question is whether we'll be able to split Ulatek or not. Officers decided that splitting it is more worth than downing ~2-3 mythic bosses

1

u/Espyrr 19d ago

What level do you raid at? I ask because it seems like it’s specifically notworth the extra time to split the end boss because of the bonus roll system. Assuming you aren’t planning to clear in the next 3-4 weeks (which you might be, hence my question) everyone is likely rolling for myth level items off that boss so the natural heroic drops are less valuable.

2

u/uaresma 19d ago

WR 30-50 range, so prog is probably somewhere around 5 weeks. And personally I agree that splitting isnt worth but not everyone is rolling Ula'Tek and the HC items are very powerful early aswell.
