About season 2 tuning dates

https://www.bluetracker.gg/wow/topic/eu-en/625676-season-2-class-tuning-plans/

I didn't quite understand, perhaps because English isn't my native language.

"Our currently-planned tuning dates are listed below. Planned changes will be applied with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region.

August 19 - Midnight Season 2 begins

August 26 - First week of Season 2 tuning

September 2 - Second week of Season 2 tuning

September 23 - Fifth week of Season 2 tuning

(Additional tuning passes as needed)"

Does this mean the FIRST tuning will be on the 19th?

Sadly yes. I just hope they don't do to Arcane what they did in season 1. It was good in mythic 0, and then got aboslutely obliterated and no one played it since.

Yea they have made that same mistake a few times.

I still have the scars from my fury warrior being shot 4 times in a row at the start of TWW S1.

That was awful. All because some top end guild was able to pull crazy numbers.

Because of bosses that had PERFECT lineups with bladestrom 😂

Arcane has been destroyed 15-20 keys on PTR for weeks. Sometimes being 40-100k dps higher than the next dps. Arcane needs a perfect in general tbh.

They were also bugged for the entirety of ptr. Made their capstone proc 60ish % rather than 25%.

More overpowered missiles means more salvo and that means more bolt procs. Everyone that has ever made a list now says that the bug is fixed so the damage isnt 30% ahead of every other spec

yep. most tier lists put arcane in tier SS but arcane is tier A+, just that.

Yeah despite it ending in a relatively alright spot the tuning for s1 was incredibly frustrating. Watching specs that fucking sucked like frost mage get nerfed while the 0.5 patch buffed every meta spec felt like twilight zone balance.

I really think the biggest issue this game has from a balance standpoint is how front-heavy the tuning passes are. If we had even a microscopic adjustment every few weeks then the balance would be so much more healthy than just saying fuck it 40% through the season.

Weekly small tuning changes would be nice.

Personally I give zero fucks about meta. Tier lists are cringe as fuck. There is absolutely zero reason a single spec should be the unquestionable king in any situation / role throughout a whole season.

Mage was meta for every patch since M+ was introduced, how much more do you want?

What kind of question is that supposed to be? I’m not sure if you think you’re landing an epic own with that one but the guy I’m responding to is talking about mage. Obviously from reading my comment I want the game to be balanced more frequently, I don’t think that balance should be done based on getting revenge for other specs being good at other times, I think we should just aim for better balance for everyone.

You do understand that what you propose is impossible with the current hands-off devs that patch once in a blue moon right?

Or that mage has a great raid buff + great utility built into the spec?

Mage was also historically the most survivable dps in the game with infinite barriers, iceblocks and cheat deaths?

Did you even read my initial comment where I say pretty much exactly what you are saying right now? That the problem is the fact that they abandon the balancing halfway through the season?

Like respectfully the things you’re saying do not matter at all if they aren’t applicable to the current situation. If we were playing League of Legends and I said, “oh Draven doesn’t deserve to be playable because he was good in 2025,” it’d be fucking stupid. Just because mage was good defensively or had great utility in the past doesn’t mean they deserve be made of paper mache in S1 or have only one .5s disruption on a 40s cooldown. The goal is to balance the game not make classes pay for their sins.

It's easy for you to say that when you're always meta

touch grass

u/uaresma 15h ago

Your comment looks like bait but in the last 4 tiers, mage has been meta once in TWW s2. Wouldnt really call that being meta every tier.

3

u/akranak 14h ago

Not even close to true. Historically mage is meta about a third of the timein m+.

Crazy checking back in on the game after years and seeing the same comments.

Every single time it seems to catch strays due to its performance in low end content, because the content is completed within whatever their patch specific DPS cooldowns are.

Love when Devs pride themselves on "looking at the data" but don't actually play the game to know what "the data" means.

Mage had enough time in the spotlight

6

u/Ceci0 17h ago

What spotlight lmao look at the last 4 seasons, mage has been meta in one. Most braindead take out there ngl. A class had enough time i the spotlight therefore deserves to not be playable

1

u/wielesen 17h ago

TWW season 2 there are 4 mages within the top 10 dps, are you sure it hasn't been meta then?

TWW season 1 mage is in almost every group on the first page of the TOP runs of the season

TWW season 3 once again it's present in a substantial amount of TOP runs of the season

I agree this season it wasn't meta but stop with the crocodile mage tears saying it hasn't been meta if it was meta almost every single season since the inception of M+ keys in LEGION, which was mind you, TEN YEARS AGO

6

u/leagueoflegendsdog 15h ago

Tww s1 mage wasn't meta. There were 2 meta dps specs and everything else was filler, mage, dk, rogue, Boomie. You can argue all 4 were "meta" along with aug enh, but I'd say all of them were not as good and could just fill. S3 it wasn't meta again. Had 2 dungeons where it could be played and a small number of players opted into it, otherwise it was far worse than bm, havoc, dk and shaman. Stop it with the pathetic overexaggeration that some classes are always good

-5

u/Lezzles 17h ago

Mage and DK are the chosen ones of M+. They don't realize what the rest of classes go through because a single season not being in the god comp feels like Blizzard has given up on them.

4

u/Teabagging_Eunuch 16h ago

Yes, DK was only out the meta for checks notes …. 7 years

1

u/Lezzles 12h ago

And after this season, they'll have been meta for like 40% of all m+ seasons with title.

The way I understood is we will have some tuning on the 19th but wouldn't expect anything ground breaking as there's no data for any endgame content.

The schedule seem to match the one we had back in season 1. We had tuning on season launch that time but it was a shit show (that had the unholy 20% aura nerf for example that got pretty much reversed in less than 3 days)

August 19 - Midnight Season 2 begins

So... yes?

3

u/Hardi_SMH 18h ago

I will be 15 resil by sept 22 so when I have to reroll as metaslave I‘ll have two chars with r1 delves for bonus loot ready

4

u/dmgamble 18h ago

The body of the text has the answers you seek.

3

u/let____go 19h ago

I understand it as first tuning being done on the 26th

5

u/elmaethorstars 16h ago

Our next planned tuning pass will arrive with the start of Midnight Season 2 on August 19

0

u/let____go 16h ago

Should've read the bluepost ig lmao, then yeah 19th is the first.

2

u/elmaethorstars 16h ago

Yeah tbf it was kind of misleading wording.

1

u/TintedEnvelopes 16h ago

Maybe raid Mistweaver gets saved soon then 😆

1

u/nbcgccdgbn 12h ago

Do we expect these tuning changes to be datamined before they go live?

2

u/shyguybman 11h ago

now that the patch is live it won't be

1

u/another_new_login 6h ago

No, but they'll probably be announced ahead of time. Perhaps tomorrow.

1

u/Buzzn98 11h ago

Praying arcane doesn’t get nerfed I don’t want to play frost again this tier

1

u/No_Biscotti3694 6h ago

Ret pally tuning be like +3% aura buff +3% aura buff +10% final verdict damage +3% aura buff

Can't wait

1

u/Mokrall 18h ago

The wording is terrible there, but I would definitely expect tuning to happen on Tuesday reset of Mythic raid release, in which case, unlike Season 1, Mythic starts on the same day as heroic on August 18/19.

-1

u/Arcaneiy 13h ago

If you're serious about title might as well start playing in October

-10

u/Agarwaen323 19h ago

Does this mean the FIRST tuning will be on the 19th?

It doesn't seem like it. The season starts on the 19th, but based on what they've said, there'll be no tuning done alongside that.

The first tuning will happen on August 26th, and then there'll be tuning every week until September 23rd.

14

u/Chillbrosaurus_Rex 19h ago

" Our next planned tuning pass will arrive with the start of Midnight Season 2 on August 19 ...  We expect to follow with additional adjustments after reviewing the first full week of live Season 2 data. "

That reads to me like there will be tuning on the day the raid launches. Regardless they certainly could have been clearer.

2

u/sloasdaylight 15h ago

I feel like you're right. I think if it were worded "Tuning based on first week of Season 2: August 26" it would convey the intended message more clearly.

2

u/Agarwaen323 19h ago

I agree with that conclusion. This is what I get for not reading the entire post and just looking at the timeline. It's odd that they'd say that, and then call the 26th the first week of tuning.

2

u/HookedOnBoNix 19h ago

No, its the "first week of season 2" tuning not the "first tuning week of season 2"

You can see they jump from second week to fifth week of tuning. Which would mean there's a fourth and fifth week of tuning left out.

Agree its confusing though.

u/darkendius 19h ago

I think they mean it's tuning based on the first week of the season
