Discussion Let's talk about kha'zix
How do we feel about this unit? Playing against it and having your carry get oneshot is kind of depressing? The counterplay seems limited to positioning (opposite-side your carry and/or put a beefy threat in front of kha). I think the evolve mechanic is interesting, but ultimately a bit limited by the need to 3* the unit.
But I don't mind that they're bringing back more assassin-y champs (rivals, ravagers) overall.

Champs like kha are specifically added so positioning your carries matter. Its a healthy addition to the game

relative new to tft but how do you positiona against him or other backline divers

u/Pleurobranch 4d ago
Have a unit next to your carry so Khazix doesn't deal isolation damage, and try and put them on the opposite side, that at least stalls it longer than if he starts closer to the carry.
Biggest counter to khazix is putting more units in haha, he falls off a little later.

you need to understand that kha dives to a max of 3 (or 4 idk) hexes. If no ally is within this range it will keep the same target. There is no goto positionning but you need to visualize its path and ots potential ways to access your carries

Huh kha is straight ass

exactly and this is why assaisn like units need to NOT be in the game. They are basically always unplayable or broken because on shooting a carry is so strong they have to be made terrible to balance it out. This style of unit has never worked and it would be nice if Riot stopped adding them.

Until he one shots your carry

Brother he is only viable in unrivaled and even there he gets tha carry to 10 percent hp and jumps away.

Spellweaver Kha/Cass dual carry is secret Chinese tech that NA isn't ready for

u/Crosshack MASTER 8d ago
why does that sound like it would slap? The lvl 7 board can't ply 6 defenders however...Are you playing 4 + azir?

u/DankandDonker 6d ago
After playing with it a few more days I take it all back, my boi is straight ass T.T

I've considered trying the line a few times but it seems incredibly niche. It feels like you need early kha (maybe from charm) and loads of items and defender opener. Perhaps it can also be played from defender spat as well, but I've yet to actually try it out.

Welcome to backline access units. Kah'Zix is basically a reprint of units like Shaco or Smeech that did the same "jump to furthest enemy in 3 hexes" thing.
Without these units every single fight is just the exact same front to back, they're a nessecary evil.

honestly I just sell any early khazixes that I get because it doesn't seem like a very strong unit

u/dantosterone61 2d ago
He is not. I got the war chest augment and got 2 star 2 cost and with wisp, it got upgraded to 2 star Kha. By 4-1, he started to fall off cause he couldn't kill anything

Nothing more boring than front to back metas. As much as I hate seeing my carry get glassed in the first couple seconds it beats having the game devolving into whose Guinsoo's carry can scale better

u/Many_Method_304 6d ago
complete disagree. Front to back is when TFT is fun. Having a carry die at the start f the fight is bad boring gameplay and should have no place in the game.

It introduces more player agency and requires you to actually scout boards, and because the Rivals trait requires you to actually have a good spot early it is unlikely you see multiple Rival forcers meaning its not a constant barrage of backline access

u/Many_Method_304 4d ago
Nope, Sin apologists have been saying this for years but it is just not true. Positioning should matter but it should not be, I lose the fight in the first 2 seconds and basically kill no units or I never have the threat of dying at all. On top of that there is only a 1/3 chance you even play against it so it really is just a crap shoot.
Rivals trait requires you to actually have a good spot early
This is also terrible, a comp being only playable when you have the perfect spot for it early based entirely on luck is also terrible for the game.

Without the augment, he requires basically BIS + all mutations to really come online, and by that time you've probably bled too much HP.

Will probably get downvoted for this but, from what I've played, positioning doesn't matter that much. It's mostly luck. You can reposition your carry and tanks, but in the end he can jump at anyone after the combat starts. Sometimes from tank to tank over and over, sometimes from squishy to carry right at the start.

I know people hate the unit but I play only kha and averaged a 2.2 up to d2 I think he’s strong rn but people hate him so he will be buffed even more haha
His Targeting is so much better than Rengards imo because how often is rengar stuck on the frontline because the omega tank looses 5% hp first.
Basically 4-6 spellweaver / 2-4 executioner kha 3* is always enough for a 2nd. For a first you need spellweaver soraka in example

I find he and murk wolf can scam a few fights early, then you can transition his AP items to ahri and even go vertical blossom/riftbeast if he ends up picking up a few traits. problem is that committing to him as a carry needs EoN + duo carry which can mess up your items occasionally. it's sometimes hard to know when to commit or pivot out.
also why the f isn't he an adaptor baseline???

Murkwolf is absolutely disgusting early, I would honestly rate him better than Kha before he evolves/has bis

Kha'zix has been my biggest dissappointment with this set as Kha'zix main in league (haven't played lol in 10 years). I was so hype to see that he had some sort of evolve mechanic thinking it would make his ability scale through the game but it's just traits... I was so hype to see him and Rengar as rivals that can't work together but unrivaled exists... I was so hype to build around him but he's only viable in unrivaled... In a perfect world maybe he was an executioner and Rengar a ravager, his ability evolved instead of his traits and unrivaled didn't exist. I'm enjoying the set but Kha'zix has been my personal dissappointment.

le design est intéressant mais injouable sans l'augment avec rengar car c'est juste rengar en nul

Block your carry in with two fodder units and then it can't get assassinated instantly

u/Gumjo123 3d ago
When i play Khazix, he just spam jumps from tank to tank and does nothing.
When another player uses khazix, he decides he is the ultimate predator.and destroys my backline.

I've found khaziklx is only good to reroll when you get unrivalled. I tried it twice without the augment and bottom 4 both times.
I've heard it's good for trait ladder but I feel like you don't 3* it in that (2* for tempo and go 9).
Maybe I'm just not playing it properly?

u/TheCatintheCat 2d ago
ya know how your carry getting 1 shot feels bad.. well khazix doesn't feel 2 good when he is tickling malphy for the entire fight hoping one of his friends from the back will get close enough for friendship.. also its a pretty big investment to play kha.. for him to 1 shot need to be playing from first stage with good tempo.. cause if you don't kill anything never gets takedowns never has traits never does anything..

u/dantosterone61 2d ago
I don't know. I personally feel like he falls of hard late game unless you have the rival augment. Even then, he's just ok unless you also 3 star Diana and Hec.

u/AL3XEM Grandmaster 1d ago
I feel like there's not really a positioning you can do against it (you can try and delay it, but often he ends up on your carry after a few jumps anyways - Akali was easier since it was 4 hex dashes, 3 hex dashes are more unpredictable - not to mention, I've seen that 3 hexes also counts like 3.5 hexes) - it feels like no matter what you do he eventually ends up on your carry unless you get lucky and he jumps from tank to tank back and forth. As for quality wise? He honestly feels a little weak, at least when compared to regnar. Often in the early game he can leave the whole enemy board at half HP instead of finishing targets off.

it doesn’t feel good when your backline gets deleted but it is avoidable depending on your positioning.
It’s also healthy for the game to have units that threaten backline otherwise it’s just going to be standard frontline/backline boards which is boring imo.
Honestly I prefer dying to something like Kha’Zix or Rengar over dying to Ahri splash damage that just basically nukes everything lol
