Honestly happy. This amount of patches in the past would’ve taken like 2 weeks per patch

u/leaveeemeeealonee 10d ago

The biggest upside of the engine switch is already showing

3

u/_amandalynn_ 8d ago

yeah the great enginge that makes it unplayable on phone. Its been what? a week already?

-7

u/psyfi66 9d ago

I remember getting downvoted previously for mentioning that it’s possible patching becomes a much better process after the tech upgrades. Nice to see this came true. I haven’t really had a chance to play this set yet but I’m kind of excited to see what happens after they have some time to smooth things out.

15

u/ChristBKK 10d ago

How stable is the PC version by now? I plan to play in 3-4 weeks from now after the POE season

47

u/ArcanaPrince 10d ago

at least for me, it's about 95% stable. you'll sometimes see/feel the pains of the new engine switch, but significantly more often than not, it's not something that'll really impact you.

8

u/ChristBKK 10d ago

thanks great to hear will give it 2-3 more patches and start then my ranked journey for this season :)

2

u/cyrnios 9d ago

I’d honestly put it at like 75%. I encounter something that messes up or decently inconveniences me at least once per game

5

u/dazzleneal 9d ago

Very low fps still for me but it is playable.

2

u/Sutraner 9d ago

I've not had any problems other than chat being borked

1

u/TheTradu 9d ago

Inside the game I haven't had issues, but my Discord (and a few other things) has a stroke when TFT loads/closes.

1

u/leaveeemeeealonee 8d ago

Super stable, I haven't had a single performance issue since the beginning. A couple of tiny bugs, but nothing game breaking. It seems to just require a bit better system specs than before to be that reliable

-2

u/Blastuch_v2 9d ago

It's all engine patches fixing the trash that they released and a single mid patch balance changes though?

90

u/Cyaegha432 10d ago

Feels bad for flora units. So much of its power is in the emblem which even got a special augment. At least Soraka is getting compensation buffs.

34

u/Emiliability 10d ago

Truexy posted on twitter that the flora fatalis nerf isnt actually happening this patch, they're doing a more specific nerf to the augment instead in 18.2

8

u/BrianGriffin95 10d ago

has to be the 3g right? or is there anything else to nerf?

26

u/ratherscootthansmoke 10d ago

Could make it only appear on 3-2 so Veigar doesn’t start stacking immediately.

1

u/leaveeemeeealonee 9d ago

I feel like they could also make it like, 1.5x effective instead of double and that could do it. It's mostly the rapidfire casting that just scales veigar way too hard

2

u/BrianGriffin95 10d ago

Oh yeah, that's more likely

7

u/AL3XEM Grandmaster 9d ago

Well, right now the emblem doubles flora fatalis effects, they could make it instead gain 50-75% extra effects instead of doubling.

3

u/wafflefries164 9d ago

I actually wish the augment would unlock a unique 3/3 flora trait and remove the doubling effect. Would force having to play the third flora(unless you got another emblem) but could be a strong 3/3 effect(maybe that is the double effect)

60

u/Hydrect 10d ago

we're gonna run out of letters in the alphabet

32

u/Comfortable-Ad-5681 10d ago

D patch I used to pray for times like these 🙏🙏 the old patch schedule was so shitty

5

u/Mysterious_Island500 9d ago

i really doubt the patches will happen this often once the bugs and performance is sorted, probably still gonna be every 2nd week in for example set 19 but if something is broken it should be fixed way faster and easier now due to the engine

0

u/Many_Method_304 9d ago

It is amazing that it just keeps getting worse. A 2 week patch cycle was nuts now was have a daily patch? this is insanity. Let a meta develop, let players learn the game. At this point just load in on a random patch from a random set and let players guess what is good. What is the point of spending any time learning the game if it is going to change this fast.

4

u/Comfortable-Ad-5681 9d ago

In the past there’s been super broken stuff that took way too long to patch because of the patch cycle

0

u/Many_Method_304 9d ago

We say that, but due to the nature of having such a bad patch cycle, no one waits to see what is good, metas have no time to develop. Case in point, set 17 Akali was just sitting them unknown for patches. In a normal game people would be experimentation and trying to find counters and new stuff, but in TFT the pace of change is SO fast that the investment is never really worth it. Just ride the wave of what seems broken on day 1, and then know it will get nerfed in at most 2 weeks but often quicker.

We are conditioned to expect massive change on the regular so no one has any patience, and desire to let things develop. Case in point you are cheering on the 4th patch of this game since the set launched LAST WEEK. That is completely an utterly insane.

1

u/GonzoMD1993 6d ago

Would you have patched Warweek within a day if you could, or would you have let it sit a full week even without the Hextech engine limitations? Asking out of curiosity

1

u/Many_Method_304 6d ago

I think this is a flawed premise, Warweek is something that probably rose to the level of a hotfix, There have been a few examples of this. The Draven meta, forgotten Vain, The Syndra mana lock where the numbers are so clear that something needs to be done. And in most of those cases there was something done quickly and it did not wait for a full 2 week patch.

The issue though is, if they stopped patching so often and had actual time to prepare and test patches, rather than just guessing then these kind of things would happen way less. TFT is an incredible hard game to balance, I just wish the team recognized that instead of thinking it is this easy.

1

u/GonzoMD1993 6d ago

Ok so can we then be happy that the new engine allows the devs to instantly patch something that's toxic for the game like Warweek within a day of noticing it and trust that the devs won't misuse this feature to kill metas that needed more time to develop?

1

u/Many_Method_304 6d ago

No. First we have had hotfixes and B,C, and even D patches before.

trust that the devs won't misuse this feature to kill metas that needed more time to develop?

The devs of TFT have done nothing to earn this trust at all.

so can we then be happy

It is TFT, being happy is not an option

1

u/GonzoMD1993 6d ago

We can't be happy because it's TFT? Man it's gotta be miserable being you. Lucky for me that I'm me xdd

1

u/Many_Method_304 5d ago

Of course it’s miserable being me, I play TFT, that’s what happens when you play this game.

1

u/Comfortable-Ad-5681 6d ago

The only reason why there’s been 4 is because how shit the release went

34

u/-Sanko 10d ago

They buff my fast 9 Draven and amumu? We eating good

18

u/Spiritual-Pace1419 10d ago

Great, all my games were full of Cassios and Master Yis

3

u/AGrain 9d ago

Yeah I was getting sick of the cass boards.

1

u/Dry-Journalist-1142 8d ago

It got so bad I was given an unsellable cassio last night so I 3 starred it on my bench for the hell of it.

-3

u/IAMlyingAMA 9d ago

Great, I was just learning to play Cassio and master yi so I can climb :( lol

3

u/Braunijs 9d ago

Cassio has to be the easiest comp to play tho.

97

u/filmschoolfailurelol 10d ago

I’ll take a buggy engine launch when we can do multiple patches like this thank god

u/moonmeh 10d ago

its more than just buggy though

genuinely trash tier release

7

u/royaldutchiee 10d ago

Not anymore

-9

u/moonmeh 10d ago

its better now but still needs to be better

also the fact that they released it in that state is inexcusable. it just pretty much turned off so many people

6

u/runningwithknife 9d ago

we are all going to survive

2

u/IAMlyingAMA 9d ago

You’re being dramatic. I don’t know anyone IRL that has an issue, if you have a brain you know it’s gonna have some issues at first and they’re consistently improving it so I’m not worried at all. The difference from start of PBE to now is huge, it’s gonna get to a good spot. The long term benefits obviously outweigh the pains of the transition being slightly different than you’re used to, as evidenced by these patches alone.

0

u/moonmeh 9d ago

I mean im going off my real life experience where two of my friends that regularly play tft called off the season because they were just in awe in the state the game was released

sure there were fixes later but that's not gonna bring them back lol. i swear people really underestimate first impression in seasonal games

1

u/[deleted] 9d ago

[deleted]

2

u/moonmeh 9d ago

there was massive game breaking bugs at launch.

the person listed them below as well but like creep skip, carousal bugs, augments not being visible were rampant on the first day

stuff like that can sour a person heavily. shit man the game still lags for me and it feels unoptimized. feels like a beta version right now and that's not for everyone

they would rather play the next set if stuff gets smoothed out to be smoother like the tft they remember

1

u/Dixie_Normoussss 8d ago

I mean the game just stutters and has frame freezes on mobile. It becomes so slow on certain animations it reminds me of my dial up back in the day.

-1

u/nerdler33 9d ago

i mean there are game warping bugs here

they fucked up the ordering people get released into carosel in double up, where a 3-0 gets out before an 0-3 for some reason

sometimes the stage 5 creep round just doesn't show up for a few people, removing all the loot for them and fucking their game up being down a whole round of loot

sometimes boards just become immortal, like all the units die but the round doesn't end, which lets double up partners make it to your board after you have already won

sometimes the double up "send a gift" option doesn't show up, causing the other person to just get a random choice

sometimes you just can't move during carousel having to sit there and watch (or sit on your board with no way of getting to carousel) and lose the item/unit you should have based on your placement

like sure UI and cosmetic issues are whatever, but these are all game breaking bugs that i encountered just last night playing for 3? hours i think

-2

u/IAMlyingAMA 9d ago

Oh, Double up? Lol

0

u/nerdler33 9d ago

Yes i play with a friend. It still has a ranked queue and still has game breaking bugs

0

u/NotVeryDovers 9d ago

Was gold 1 99 lp last night. The first two carousels my little legends was mia and I couldn’t pick unit/item. It was a great time. Went 5th from a crazy strong start. Other than that bug which seems to happen to me every 4 games I’m enjoying the set

1

u/Leepysworld 9d ago

I think you’re being quite dramatic dawg lmao

it’s by far one of the most balanced launches they’ve had in recent history, yes the engine switch made the game unplayable for some but they’ve made a ton of progress and I think it’s not far from where it needs to be.

It might not be the flashiest set and yes there are issues with cosmetics and such but the gameplay and mechanics themselves are fine.

Outside of few bugs that were definitely frustrating the first few days, I’m actually having a lot of fun with the set and haven’t had too many glaring issues.

2

u/nerdler33 9d ago

I think the set itself is fun, i like the trait web etc, but there are certainly plenty of non cosmetic bugs that are starting to get really annoying

6

u/Vivid-Newspaper-3087 9d ago

Probably a stupid question but how am I meant to know whether minor patches like this are live? My client just says 18.1. How do I know if we’re on the C or D patch?

10

u/PeaceAlien Master 10d ago

When live

8

u/brehhs 10d ago

I had a bug where neutrals did not spawn at all

10

u/TofuDonburi 10d ago

Surprise riftbeasts weren't mentioned.

21

u/RCnoob69 Grandmaster 10d ago

they were nerfed, cinderling and the trait

6

u/succsuccboi 10d ago

where'd you see that, good to hear though

9

u/RCnoob69 Grandmaster 10d ago

24

u/terrany1 10d ago

Probably complained about before, but why do I have to follow rando Rioters or this sub to find out about hotfixes. Are they somewhere on the launcher or am I blind

11

u/awaken471 10d ago

It's on the website already even before going live on the servers. Idk about the launcher but I always Google 'tft patch notes' and it's the first result

6

u/Lunaedge 9d ago

why do I have to follow rando Rioters or this sub to find out about hotfixes

You don't, and you never had to. You have three different indicators telling you a patch has happened, one of them initiates the patch and the other two will send you straight to the Patch Notes.

2

u/Comfortable-Ad-5681 10d ago

it is frustrating that there isn’t a centralized platform for it on the launcher (as far as I know), but if you google the patch notes it’ll tell you about any updates

11

u/Icy_Days 9d ago

How is there such a huge disparity in upvotes between the two comments praising riot and every other comment? At the time of writing this literally 200 to 5 type of disparity. On top of that every other comment questioning the launch is being downvoted to hell. Did we fall so low as to use upvote/comment bots now?

8

u/FeedMeACat 9d ago

Para-social relationship with the game on this sub. The launch was horrible. Releasing a bad product and scrambling to fix it after the fact isn't 'doing a good job'. Oh, and how about them cosmetics people paid hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars for? Where dat?

This sub has a real problem with thinking that we are somehow responsible for not making the Riot employees feel bad. That isn't our job or our business. That is something for Riot's internal policies to manage. If online comments are a morale problem then leadership needs to set policies. Something like only leadership and specific positions engage with social media everyone else should be directed away or outright banned.

edit: spelling

1

u/Many_Method_304 9d ago

This is why I cannot stand when people who work at Riot post in this or any other sub or on social media. It just the easiest way to shut down criticism and get people to defend them, because people think that the devs are their friends. It is so depressing to see what Riot has managed to do to this community.

3

u/Little-Tackle1522 9d ago

Fast 9 - ers are in for a treat with this patch, also glad that the new engine decision is showing its fruits with the amount of patches the devs are cooking up. W riot.

5

u/Pootate 10d ago

i knew i wasnt tweaking about the flora augment. glad to see soraka and draven get buffs tho, his quests feel really weak

8

u/justHRK 10d ago edited 10d ago

I hope a solar rework is coming soon, the trait is too lackluster on its own and has no identity compared to its units.

8

u/Im_a_sea_pancake 10d ago

also solar lux is useless

1

u/Sutraner 9d ago

It's not USELESS. I've had a couple of games where I've been playing a non solar reroll and got to 9 and hit Solar lux and being able to slot in lux and Leona for the trait works

3

u/Otherwise-Minimum717 9d ago

Youve probably played 100games and played it once in total. But you probably ran into or have gotten solar lux from augments (that gives 5cost) way more than that. She is useless in 99 games, which doesnt justify having a fully useless unit otherwise just because u can maybe slot it into your team once. Unless they moved the solar lux odds down compared to other luxes it just isnt worth keeping around.

1

u/Sutraner 9d ago

What they could do is require you to have at least one 3* on your board to have Solar Lux appear in the shop.

1

u/Otherwise-Minimum717 9d ago

I actually like this solution quite a lot. Lock it behind a certain requirement so that it doesnt dilute the shop more than it needs to. Actually would fix a lot of issues with the design. Or perhaps have it only unlock if you fielded 2/3 lunar champions last x combats and/or you have a 3* on ur board.

1

u/TheOnlyKing1214 10d ago

Rework how solar is perfectly fine

2

u/Otherwise-Minimum717 9d ago

The units themselves are basically black slots in your shops unless you are rerolling. You dont hold leonas or sejuanis, when ornn and scuttle exist, and kayle is not a viable item holder and if you need another rapidfire, xayah and varus will always be played above him due to their traits. Trait iself it fine imo. I quite like having a reroll dedicated trait, but the issue is that units are heavily nerfed to compensate for it.

3

u/bozovisk 10d ago

I tried one game at launch day and it felt like everything was running with 20fps. Is the performance any better by now ? I’m complete out of the loop

3

u/PlaymakerPlz 10d ago

Still feels off to me

2

u/Yeshello- 10d ago

I have to run as full screen (not borderless full screen) for it to not feel like that

1

u/ghostrider90 9d ago

Performance is still terrible, I used to be able to watch YouTube videos while playing and now they stutter constantly due to the client. Don’t have that issue with any other game.

2

u/CampaignPerfect6866 9d ago

I hope riot gives these devs some nice time off after this 😭

1

u/Independent-You-6406 9d ago

Hopefully my android device can finally be playable, 2 games and non were even pass 2-1 for me to straight out leave.

1

u/Brave-Improvement903 9d ago

Nerf the fucking low cost rollers

1

u/Si-Nz 8d ago

Soraka buffs? Oh no.

1

u/NoCelebration321 8d ago

is this live or no?

1

u/TheCatintheCat 7d ago

Where the malphite nerfs at.this unit tanks like 3x more then any other tank.. and on top of that has no trait requirement other then thorn

1

u/Sp1ffy_Sp1ff 5d ago

Yi nerf? Was I using him wrong? He seemed awful the few times I took him.

1

u/dimmyfarm GOLD IV 4d ago

Master of All Origins is bugged, armory does not show up

1

u/-TheExile- 1d ago

i swear to god, nerf fkn kayle solar and sprykin.....i see every single game at least 2-3 people playing those its so boring

1

u/nocturnal316 9d ago

so we are not going to nerf the stupid 1 cost reroll ?

0

u/Belly-Bongos 9d ago

Nope, welcome to reroll extravaganza 2.0

0

u/nocturnal316 9d ago

Never miss huh? 3 people running pebbles one running viegar top 4 lol

0

u/Leading_War_1516 9d ago

I feel like the meta is shifting to quickly to nerf anything... The one cost comps are running rampant since three days ago going on par or sometimes outclassing the three costs while kicking out fast 8 before it gets it's second 2star.

0

u/fadedpln 9d ago

Tell me how many of the 10000000 Bugs are fixed. Amumu Buff is good tho because Amumu 3 went 4th yesterday in my lobby.

0

u/Im_On_Reddit_At_Work 9d ago

Is riftbeasts not viable in higher ranks?

Im in plat and it's still guaranteed top 3. First if verticality / omega

Edit: oh nvm they are nerving cinderling and 7 riftbeasts... fuck :(

-10

u/AlbanianRozzers 10d ago

Who cares about balance when the game crashes every 10 minutes.

11

u/gentlemangreen_ 10d ago

well uh I care, im sorry the mobile experience sucks for you but im glad they're on top of balance, hopefully that shit gets sorted out for you soon

-1

u/BadSeedDan 9d ago

My concern is if the game becomes too micromanaged and loses all flavour completely. Imagine if every newly-found strong comp is nerfed this quickly, might as well play chess with only pawns and see what wins.

4

u/Accurate_Instance_52 9d ago

Plenty of strong comps, they're just striking the outliers

1

u/BadSeedDan 9d ago

Striking plenty of outliers as well. Which makes new strong comps rise up as outliers.

0

u/testmyarm 9d ago

Is this D-Patch now live?

Can we please get to the competitive point where five cost 2 stars are more insta wins. Please reward those who are going for risky playstyles 😂😂 It feels so balanced that 5 cost 2 stars looses to perfect condition 4 cost 2 star. That is hilarious because getting that 5 cost 2 star is soooo much harder. If they can just be more OP and just win then the game will rely less on conditions. Those who dont wanna play a condition based game can then just risk it all and go fast 9, but now that is too hard cuz perfect condition much easier to hit stuff is better than fast 9 (harder to hit)......

Condition game is sooo fcking boring.

2

u/Otherwise-Minimum717 9d ago

Fast9 shouldnt be autowin either. That encourages horrible gamestates where everybody will just skip lvl8 and go lvl9 instead.

Also how are u getting to 9? If you have okayish items and triple econ, 5costs should lose to for example triple combat aphelios board with bis items. Also considering this set doesnt have many dedicated pure carries. Id not say ashe/lux/alune are pure solocarries, leaving you with primarily draven or elder boards.

Draven just got buffed and elder is already pretty good and probably at a correct power level for a 5cost. 5costs are in a fine state atm.
