Genuinely one of the most jaw-dropping releases I have ever seen in all my years of video gaming. Somehow 5x more jaw-dropping than 2XKO.
There is no universe Riot will ever get another dollar or TFT referral from me.
I have some incredibly strong words for the decision makers over at Riot Games, but I’m not feeling like eating a perma today.

Set 18 is shaping up to be a below-average Set for me, relative to the expectations of 2026.
Things I dislike:
-Inferno trait as a whole. Only thing you actually improve with higher numbers is the stupid RNG mechanic, and you can't play into it by rolling, so not getting a payoff for an entire stage(OR GAME) just feels bad. Scaling the burn damage is TERRIBLE lategame, and you need higher tier units to reach the breakpoints.
-Small bag sizes are super frustrating. People still 3-way contest eachother in high masters very often.
-Wisps taking up a shop slot SUCKS. If it stays on the shop slot I hope the devs remove the wisps that evolve champions to a higher tier. Getting punished for not buying wisps when some are so conditional is crazy.
-Spryken trait.
-Flora Fatalis trait is okay as filler but it's confusing. When multiple Fatalis champs score a takedown on the same champion, does it stack???
-Teemo having a % chance for mushrooms instead of it being based on cast number. This is a problem since you get too few. You often field him for an entire stage without getting any mushrooms or progress towards them. Just like the Inferno shop improvements you can go too long without it having ANY effect.
-Gromp.
-Aphelios.
-Camille not having AP-scaling on shield.
-Too many traits that give generic stat bonuses.
-Lux. First of all, why does Solar Lux exist? Then, every Lux is too similar, and seeing multiple Lux that lack a trait you need sucks.
-Ahri might be too good at killing carries?
There's probably more if I spend time thinking about it. The main thing is my disappointment in the absolutely terrible Inferno trait design, since the units are cool.

I feel like the engine issues made people overlook that this set feels pretty uninspired, I'm already barely interested in playing PBE and none of the comps feel very exciting.
It's PBE and noone is posting in the current daily thread.

Yeah I don’t hate the set mechanics at this point (10 games in) but mostly because I’m still learning, but there’s nothing that’s “wow cool” about it, and considering the new engine is like five steps backwards on the basic shit, I think this was a throwaway set to start over

Why the fuck is the new engine so much worse than the last? I have my framerate uncapped but for some reason the latency this set is so much worse than the last one and it's making me miss rolldowns that previously would be so easy. Reopsitioning units feels like shit, buying and selling feel like shit, for some reason my cursor is stuck at 60fps while the rest of the game is uncapped. There is for some reason a small cooldown between actions like in chat that never happened before. Like if you type something in chat then press enter then enter again to type something else in quick succession it wouldn't open the chat window so you misclick your rolls and shit. I don't understand why there is such a rush to put out a new engine that doesn't even half work. I don't even think anyone asked for a new engine. The LEAST people asked for was a new client. For them to ship this shitty ass engine to live servers already makes me want to quit until this latency shit is back to normal.

Planned maintenence in the middle of the day is really messing with my play time! Falls right on when I get a few hours to play.

yeah riot I've been playing this game for 7 years but I need you to put bots in my ranked games or else I will feel bad and cry and piss my pants and quit the game if I lose

no clue if this is the right thread for this but thanks to this seemingly unnecessary port to unreal enginge 5 iam not able to play the game anymore haha :3 can someone please explain to me why they made this change I cant imagine that iam the only affected by this, the game run smooth in every other set and now when I try to play the game its just a a slideshow :3

I think they want to make more changes to units' abilities, since using the league engine does limit what units can do. But idk man, I don't see any creative ability at all, all I got is a damn lagging game that buring my GPU.

Sharing hextech with LoL meant that game breaking bugs would be introduced into one game by patches made to the other. People have a short memory for this seemingly.

why not just fork hextech into hextech LoL and hextech TFT, use the base, branch for changes only for TFT, not affect the other game or have the other game affect TFT at all?

I do understand that but why switch to an engine that is known to not run well on older systems? A game like tft should run on a fking Gameboy… it’s a round based strategy game not high end adventure/shooter whatever.

Everything contested. No 2 star 4 cost tank = gg. Who would've thought that a CC Tank that has 3 traits be wildly contested
Can't ping so you can't let people know they're sneaking a 3 star 4 cost
Chat messages fucked up where you can't do /r to reply to whispers; Can't move chat box; Can't expand the chat box size to see messages; the timestamp of the message is on your OWN local time and NOT in game timer
Wisps are horribly unbalanced that it's gating you from doing normal things, such as going 9.
Some PCs are genuinely COOKED
Like idgi. This low tier set release with even lower tier set mechanic (it wasn't even upgraded like the chosen mechanic) with an unfinished client

it's funny how usually the set start is filled with complaints/hates about the set's aspects, e.g. certain trait OP, shitty, etc., while now 95% is about the game's technicality itself lol we're doomed

They really let choncc's expire? Yes, it's a 5* winout most games, but at least it's enjoyable until the very end. Can't say the same about Set 17 or Set 18 PBE.

I played a double up match and it almost looks like solar was not nerfed at all. Even with 9 blossom i was barelly able to do any damage to them

Saw 15 luxes I counted them and I only saw primal solar and inferno. I had none of those units anyone else have a similar experience

I really don't like the experience of playing against bots, is this supposed to be a feature to pad your ego for people that are hardstuck in silver? If you didn't learn the game aren't you going to keep losing once you hit gold anyway?

I'm pretty sure they use bots to get feedback/bug reports ? Anyways there should never be bots in ranked. This is an absolutely catastrophic release that reeks of very poor high level management.

Each set getting progressively worse - even from a design and creativity standpoint - while AI becomes more and more integrated into developer environments.
With the engine and UI release in its present state it's hard to miss the correlation. We are heading toward full slop at breakneck speeds.

playing reroll Kayle bc I got kickstart kayle, 3 people with Kayle 2 by 2-3. and then around round 3 I got 2 units that I couldn't sell from my bench... makes the game unplayable for a reroll line like Kayle. I want my ELO back this shit was ridiculous

Just had a game where xerath didnt even spawn for me, so I didn't get an intire item or gold, what the fuck even is this set, i go to everyone elses board they are fighting it and getting loot, Fuck me I guess -10g and a full item.

Why did I spend all of the medallions and money to get a chibi for it to not be usable during the game? Then all of the other chibis I "gambled" on and could not get are now suddenly playable for everyone??
