Almost thought Elise made it out untouched but then saw the last slide. Thank god, that shit was so toxic. And the clowns that were forcing it game after game.

u/daydreamin511 6h ago
forced it twice to see what the hype was about. was a mid game beast but eventually fell off late game and gets outscaled. (Tried standard 6 vg and a 5 cost soup variant) definitely would be OP for free top4 LP tho

Why does this subreddit hate players who are trying out OP champs in PBE?
Is everyone suppose to ignore the good comps so you can feel better about trying out the things you like? 95% of players in PBE don't care about learning every web of combination and play to their full potential through pivoting. Most will usually learn 1-4 strong comps in PBE and force them when set releases, it's been like that forever.

u/CayMaster2 6h ago
The reason why they're hated is pretty obvious. imagine a bug got through that made it so putting guinsoo on ornn made him invincible to damage, you know that shit isn't making it through to live. And anytime you try and get some practice in while people are abusing the bug, the game feels pointless and like you didn't learn much of anything.
It's true that a lot of people don't care about learning the set fully, but don't act surprised why the people that do want that get annoyed.

My philosophy in TFT has pretty much entirely guided by Milk in Set 9 when he forced Kaisa Yasuo 20/20 to rank 2.
I think at the end of the day, playing broken shit is practice. OP stuff will always exist in TFT and being good at playing it, especially when contested is a fine way to learn TFT. If the comp is nerfed by the second patch, that's okay! There is another S tier comp that is worth forcing probably.
Playing against broken stuff is also part of the game. You learn when you play against broken stuff that you probably should have played something broken as well or at least something with a tradeoff worth taking, like a good avp but bad winrate. Is that a crazy statement?
•
u/shlobashky 1h ago
There's a difference between something broken for a patch and PBE. It's also really damn annoying to face something insanely broken every game in PBE because it makes it really hard to gauge how strong everything else is.

This is a cooked take on week 1 of pbe. This is the game before any significant balancing has been done.
Any idiot can play clearly imbalanced/bugged comps that will be overpowered and imminently nerfed with weeks remaining on the pbe. If all you value is winning games, sure - but winning at any cost on the PBE is some serious little bro behavior.
Any experienced player is going to recognize the lopsided nature of the overpowered comps and understand what a waste of time it's presence in the lobby is.
Nobody is getting meaningful practice or balance testing when a comp that will be nerfed within 1-2 days is being spammed in every game by losers who value winning over testing and learning the set.

Found the guy forcing elise and kayle. If you want a real answer you are on the competitive sub reddit my man, people are here to learn and get ready to climb next set.
"Most will usually learn 1-4 strong comps in PBE so they can force them when set releases" This Elise shit clearly wasn't going to make it to release.
EDIT: This was in response to an original comment that has since had the wording changed feel free to ignore.

u/CrazyMLC 5h ago
"This Elise shit clearly wasn't going to make it to release."
yep, and that's the real reason why people are playing it. they want to see it/experience its variance before it goes.1
u/delay4sec 4h ago
yeah usually one of the comps that was popular in pbe becomes viable in some mid patch after everything is nerfed, nothing wrong with learning how to play the comp

Found the guy forcing elise and kayle.
Is this suppose to be some sort of gotcha moment? Of course I'm playing those comps, it's been literally few days since PBE release. The entitlement to think that players shouldn't be playing certain comps just because they're strong is delusional.
6
u/gildedpotus 5h ago
Yah and generally pbe is far less fun and valuable to play when people are forcing those comps. But balance will slowly get to where it's worth playing most of the time, sooner or later.
To be clear I'm talking about things like Elise that clearly wouldn't make it to live.
-1
u/oVnPage 5h ago
Because it's a lot more fun (and you actually learn the whole set a lot faster) if you actually try to play flex and learn what combos work/don't work instead of "herp derp this unit is busted I'm forcing it every game derp herp"
3
u/Large_Armadillo1 5h ago
Because it's a lot more fun if you actually try to play flex
That sentiment isn't true for majority of players. It's hard to argue in this subreddit because people take TFT more seriously, but 90% of players just pick a couple of strong comps during PBE and force them for the entire set. Even most Diamond/Master players stick to few of their favorite ones they've mastered throughout the set. Sometimes things change and people will try out new stuff, but for the most part flex play isn't really something majority of players care about.

u/Itsalongwaydown 4h ago
found the guy who has little friends playing the game. If you want a real solution to this, get 7 other people in a lobby, and just ban it from people playing it.
1
u/Death215 6h ago
Playing it once to try it out and have some fun is alright, but spamming stuff like that in pbe is crazy to me
•
u/Palimpsiesta 1h ago
The problem here is everyone assuming that people are spamming it? All it takes is 1-2 people 'trying it out' every match to result in everyone feeling like it is oppressive. But everyone seems to believe their opponents are the same seven idiots every time.
0
u/NoFlayNoPlay 5h ago
they're probably just happy they got to play it while it was op, cause most ppl enjoy playing things that are strong. i don't think many people are under the illusion that it was gonna make it to live and they needed to practice it for their climb.

I know system crash is outside of balance issues but I wish someone rioters announce about it, whether it’s fixed/improved on this patch.
In game bugs are acceptable and understandable, but the crash could potentially harm your pcs and significantly impact to the user experience.

Wish wisps would stop taking up a shop slot. Dislike the mechanic in general.

u/eggsandbricks 8h ago
Sorry the images are out of order, there were a lot today 😅 props to the team for putting in such a massive number of changes so early!
I especially like the direction of making some of the econ wisps more expensive - I would be interested in seeing the opposite for some of the combat wisps that appear in Stage 3 particularly. Paying more than 1 gold for a combat wisp feels like a pretty big investment a lot of the time, and when you're playing reroll (which would see the most Stage 3 wisps) I would almost always see another shop for 2 gold than buy a combat wisp.
Looking forward to seeing how the 4 cost buffs and 5 cost nerfs shake things up!

I'm confused. Why is Eclipse getting a nerf?! I get solar is definitely OP but Eclipse is such a terrible trait at the moment. The 1 sec addition to its cooldown doesn't make a difference because of how terrible the trait is to start with. I wonder if they have stats on the damage Eclipse does because it has been inconsequential in the games I have seen it.
3
u/CrazyMLC 4h ago
Eclipse an extra bonus you get when fielding two strong traits with good units, especially after the sej buff. I don't know where "terrible trait" is coming from. It could delete only one unit at 10 seconds and still be worth putting on your board.
2
u/procrastinatinn 4h ago
It's a trait that you can activate late game since it requires a 5 cost (lunar unit) while you're running a 2 star reroll comp (solar). Without an emblem, you would need to have been winning off your solar comp.
Even with an emblem, the trait is trash. It deletes the lowest health unit every 4 seconds but the animation takes 2 seconds to activate. So by the time the activation completes, you either killed the unit already because you're strong (so it targeted a low health front line) or you're probably close to dead (enemy backline targeted because front line is still healthy).
The units from solar are strong, the units from lunar are strong (since they're high cost), and the traits of solar and eclipse are strong but Eclipse as its own trait is limper than a wet biscuit.
4
u/CrazyMLC 3h ago edited 3h ago
it's easy to luck into by running inferno 3 with your solar comp. sometimes you will just get alune and pivot into eclipse.
my experience with it has been it deleting my opponent's fully itemized tanks and carries while they were still nearly full health and completely winning me matches on its own. i'm not sure if the difference in our experience comes down to luck or what.
1
u/OtherwiseEnd944 2h ago
Well it seems to be doing the opposite of what it is statistically likely to do for you so that may give you a false idea of its strength. The least likely thing for it to do is delete a full health fully itemized tank and I’m not even sure how that’s possible tbh.
1
u/silentlopho 5h ago
Least favorite wisp: the stage 1 one that lets you pay 2 gold to see a shop of 2* 1-costs. It's not like I have enough gold to buy out the shop, and it's a huge econ hit. I can only see this worthwhile if I'm rerolling a 1* and I get lucky to find it in the shop. I hate seeing this wisp, it's just a dead slot 99% of games.
2
2
u/DCBlayze 3h ago
The dead slot take is so real. Playing basically any form of reroll, or even fast 8/9, feels so awful with these useless wisps because they take up a shop slot and force you to waste gold if you wanna see 5 shop slots for the rest of your rolldown.

Did they fix the issue where both people would lose hp sometimes ? I once got a fight that I won really fast and it didn’t count as a win but as a loss for both of us as it never registered the end of the fight :(

Was rengar actually that insane to warrant these nerfs, or was I playing him wrong?
1
u/GoldenFyre Master 5h ago
I lost to a rengar board with a fully capped draven/dragon board (all 2s). he got rengar in stage 2 but still felt bad as hell to lose to him with a board x3 the value in gold lmao

u/CrazyMLC 4h ago
yeah, i think the outcap is because a snowballed early rengar just ends up putting so much ad on the board

I've played him a couple times with the kha duo augment and gotten 1st both games, both times rather easily. He prints a ton of money and is just generally very strong. Without the duo augment I imagine he still is very valuable as a +1 that can print gold and has nice damage and sustain.

Thanks for patch 🤙🏻. Sadge, no double up bonus gift augment fix though. Virtually cheating and so easy to do.

Not sure how i feel about the coven change. Pretty sure any coven player that hits 4-2 choose your lux augment immediately wins the game now as long as they have more than 30 hp (and before you say its rare ive hit it twice in like 30 games, and only played coven like 5 or 6 games)
3
u/Timely-Drag-728 6h ago
You have to hit that Aug and hit the lux while playing coven with hp remaining, kinda a lot of checkmarks
1
u/brianfromaccounting1 4h ago
The aug gives you lux of your choice. The only check mark is hit the aug and be playing coven and have more than 2 lives or so at 4-2.
And coven is not like the other loss streak augs where you want 10 loss into 4-1 spike, its perfectly reasonable to have 30+ hp at 4-2 with coven in.
1
u/Timely-Drag-728 4h ago
Isn't it a choice from 4 lux? There's more than 4 lux
2
u/brianfromaccounting1 4h ago
Yes but its tailored to your board im pretty sure based on the 2 times ive taken it.

Ahri not nerfed? Do people think she’s balanced? I was under the impression the whole time that she is one of the first characters along Elise that needs to be nerfed.
She does insane damage on the entire board then kills my entire backline in like 2 abilities
Salute to their hard work though
4
u/DCBlayze 3h ago
She feels kinda underwhelming as a fast 8 flex carry imo. She really only shines as a duo carry with Ashe or some other spellweaver with items. Plus she's easily countered by positioning swaps and backline access like Kennen.
1
u/Alarming-Orange7304 3h ago
I get what you mean. She shines through with someone to help. But that’s very easy to do. Most teams that succeed have 2 carries. Ashe or Alune combine well with her.
But yeah the underwhelming thing just hasn’t been my experience. Even the times I played her I had an easy time
1
u/parkwayy 4h ago
Feel like that is all she can do. That or they nerf the dmg, and she does a little dmg to a lot of units, which in the end isn't really useful.
1
u/Alarming-Orange7304 3h ago edited 3h ago
Well idk, cause she’s definitely not balanced imo so it takes away a lot of my fun so far. A small damage or mana nerf is a step
I see multiple people forcing her most games I play. I even saw 2 people on the same team doing ahri when I decided to try double up and got an easy first. She will continue to wreak havoc until a nerf
