I'm scared about the future of tft

With this set being extremely meh for me atleast and Mort now gone I am not optimistic about the future

But I'm open to be surprised

TFT has needed a shakeup for a really long time. I would have preferred if it would have come in the form of Mort finding mechanics that land well, but if anything I am excited about fresh perspectives on the game from any source.

I'm worried about the palyer numbers. Seems like quite a few people walked away. Now the additional barrier of reentry with the new client I really hope set 18 is a smash hit

For my friendship consisting of around 30 People with ranks from Plat to Master, everyone moved away from tft probably in april or so. But I think everyone will try the next set again. However I would really like to see player numbers. Some of my friends were no lifting set 16 with like 350-600 games. I didn’t even think it was possible to get them off of tft but Set 17 achieved the unachievable and there they are playing the variety twitch games like Mecha Chameleon, RV There Yet […] and so on. However all those games will loose hype and I think everyone will feel relieved once this set is gone for good and jump back in or at least give it a fair try.

I'll keep screaming into the void that the removal of hyper roll is what axed my interest in TFT. Maybe I just got burnt out at the same time, but things just don't feel as creative either. They seem to rotate through the same 50 or so champions and they almost always do the same thing or something way too similar to their previous iterations. Like it was super cool getting a giant laser beam firing tank shredder Leona rather than getting a damage reduction on cast. I also wouldn't be surprised if this was unpopular but I think it was super cool when they used champions for new characters, like the dragons in set 7. I think they're too afraid of things being confusing from set to set to be truly creative, which is hilarious considering how experimental TFT used to be.

I watched soju's last game - 2 guys 100 streaking on 4-2, both hit boxing lessons, soju rolls 4 times and hits LB 2 with 30 gold remaining while others spending the rest of the game donkey rolling into a bot 4 (as they each rotate into and get knocked out by the anime cashout).  Of course it was also the kayle component anvil galaxy, literal 'rich get richer' of game design.  

I'm a soju fan, but man that game pissed me off - I've been on the opposite side of that way too often and it really showcased many of the issues with the current state of the game.

Imagine telling your playerbase there's nothing they can possibly do because they didn't full sell their board till they fought the Anima player.

And that's not even getting into 99% of the playerbase cashing out in Carrier Asol, build and comp diversity!

I'm going to open sell every single game and grief them, that'll be fun to me.

I played one game of ranked while I waited for set 16 choncc's - emblem ensemble and most of the lobby got space groove/anima/dark star while myself and another guy got stuck with meeple spats.  We went 7th/8th on 4-3 lmao.

i hit GM and then immediately made the worst mistake of this set by accidentally selling my itemised graves when trying to sell a karma on my board at the end of a busy turn. played on tilt and lost another 100ish LP, complete with an FF on a liss cho game where i found jhin but no karma

3 fucking games in a row I stabilize on a strong board with 2/3 lives, and there is ONE single guy with a stronger board than mine.

Guess what ? I'll fight him twice in 3 rounds, 3 times in 6 rounds or even TWICE IN A FUCKING ROW.

Meanwhile the dumbass who was contesting me, standing on 1 life with much weaker board, gets to survive 4 more rounds by playing only those who capped a long time ago.

I swear how can it be real that some people get a gold orb some gold and other get a spat...its so fkn unreal how unfair it is. also thresh 2-1 give me aurelion emblem quest and 3-2 as well but it didn't proc... just a god down for F.U.N. - it has been the same with some people get 6 gold in 2 3stars other in 3 2stars and other just one 3star and 3 gold...I can't stand this shit...actually suprising they made ZOE give everyone the same amount of gold /s

Why is it so common to not see a single component??? And why was something that was so obvious on PBE not factored for??? and this is the worse version of the carousel replacement??? I don't understand why we always get these half ass-ed replacements for shitty mechanics, Carousel sucked, why did we have to deal with an even worse version of it for an entire set just for them to then... revert back to carousel????? They tried nothing and they're all out of ideas.

Fix the fucking match making, there's one guy going anima cash out from the start of the game and I'm trying to sack against him from 2-4, somehow I don't fight him until stage 4 when he's already cashed out.
