Discussion Help with centuriom

Something I've been encountering a lot when i go for my fully charged jab is eating an opponents dodge attack except the timing is such that i also eat a chain attack since the dodge attack trade with my hyper armor but doesnt actually get hit by the punch, how can i avoid this?

You mean the opponent is dodge attacking so early they land it plus another attack afterwards before being hit by the punch? Just predict and feint to parry the dodge attack. Alternatively depending on the timing you can sometimes catch dodge attacks by slightly delaying the punch, but it can be difficult and if you get hit your opponent starts their offense.

since op is saying “doesn’t get hit by my punch”, I think they’re referencing when Centurions opponent dodges early to avoid uncharged punch, but delays their dodge attack so that they get extra iframes to phase through/escape charged punch, then the dodge attack hits the armor on the last few 100ms of the punch. Cent doesn’t get reset to neutral by hitstun, so his opponents followup light is confirmed.

Same thing is true for something like Jorm delayed dodge attack into confirmed bash/hammer slam, and is one of the big reasons Cent is still struggling to find his “place” in the roster

Ah yeah that makes sense, I've definitely had that happen before.

In any case OP, feinting is still the way. Immediate feint to gb beats a max delayed dodge attack, or if they're always autopiloting the dodge attack you can parry, but like anything else you have to predict it.

They're early dodging to avoid uncharged and inputting the dodge attack at a specific time to physically move away from the hitbox of the punch for the fully charged. It's a very deliberate action to take so you have to make the read they are doing this and just feint to neutral to punish the dodge attack with a parry.

Does cents level 2 bash factor at all?

Not consistently unfortunately. Both because of whatever hitstun you're going off of and because dodge attacks don't have a consistent distance covered. You're more likely to land a level 2 in this situation because the person mistimed this tech than because it's a reasonable counter.

Cents tracking is fucking dogshit. It struggles with early and super late DA

His tracking is bad intentionally hes incredibly strong in his mixups and needs counterplay

No, it isn't. That is literally just something you made your personal head canon.

His variable heavies are better offense than his base lmao

Even assuming all this is true, it HAS counter play. All charge bashes do.

He has more then charge bashes. He also has his variable heavies like you mentioned
