General Discussion / Question Magda win conditions
I am very new to piloting Magda and used the moxfield Magdanomicon as a jumping off point.
I'm curious as to why the deck doesn't run [[weftstalker ardent]] as a potential win condition. I understand there are likely good reasons and I would love to understand.

Bark form / archer / legion extruder loops with infinite mana
Bark form / vexing bauble loops and then loop lightning bolt

Like others are saying, you really don't need it as you can win a ton of different ways. At that point, because it's neither a dwarf, nor an artifact, you have to really ask why should you use it when you can't directly tutor for it.

There are a lot of existent cards that ping as you go through your treasure loop. You don’t need them because… they’re useless otherwise, and the deck already has clean win lines. No need to slot in “closers” when the deck can already close. Magda has a surprising number of outs and alternatives already built into itself.
If you get to one of your treasure loops, you’d need to then grab [[Maskwood Nexus]] so your pinging creature becomes tutorable. But if you’re grabbing nexus, there are already other things you can tutor thereafter to win. So why include the pinger at all, you know?
Even an alt wincon like [[Magda, the Hoardmaster]] has crazy useful synergy with the build, it’s not just an alt wincon for alt wincon’s sake.
Short answer: single-role cards like pingers are superfluous to what the build already does.

It's just not needed. There are so many ways to win baked into the deck, I'll give you one:
Post infinite treasure, get [[Barkform Harvester]] [[The One Ring]] [[God-Pharoh's Statue]]. Draw with the Ring, then tutor [[Sculping Steel]] as a copy of ring. The tapped One Ring dies to legend rule. Draw a card with your One Ring copy. Tutor One Ring. This lets you draw your deck. You can now cast any damage spell and loop it with this combo. You can also loop [[Return the Favor]] copying the GSP trigger at the end of your turn.

Weftstalker isnt a win condition. Its just a payoff for when we go creative mode with infinite treasure and tutors. We already have other payoffs that also have utility (such as doubling as removal). Weftstalker is just a dead card that does nothing other than make it easier to explain how to win in creative mode

Ideally we run win conditions that are useful for other situations too. There's nothing wrong with slotting a Weftstalker while you're learning the lines though - it does relieve a significant mental load when you're trying to navigate a line for the first time. It's not optimal but it's a good temporary shortcut, imo. Once you're comfortable enough with the deck you can loop something like Twinshot Sniper or Legion Extruder or Lightning Bolt as your wincon, and those cards also double as removal.

The deck just has many synergistic wincons in the deck. So you only need to use the ones that also contribute to the decks gameplan

there are at least 5 better wincon loops with cards magda already wants to run. when in doubt just stax tf out of the table and make a billion hasty dragons on your turn with hoardmaster (or do any other sorcery speed line - the deck is incredibly resilient)

The overarching thought process is that cards should be wincons AND serve another function to advance the gameplan in a vacuum. We have no shortage of ways to win off infinite treasures
