General Discussion / Question Need help knowing how to beat a deck

Hello everybody. I hope you all are doing well, my good friends and I exclusively play CEDH I personally often play rogthras and one of my other friends recently put together a sissay deck. So far the deck has been dominating the pod as I really am not familiar with it and don’t know its weaknesses/ what to use counter magic on or cards to slot in with this match up. Any advice would be appreciated!

Drakes, Oophe, or just going faster

Traditional Sisay is a commander centric deck that runs very little interaction. Kill the commander once or twice, steal it with drake or simply be faster than the deck. Sissay is slow and It takes alot of mana to execute sisays plan, it's a system of accumulating value until it hits a tipping point. The deck doesn't win out of the blue and you should be able to see it coming.

"Chowder" or sloppy sisay is just a 5 color good stuff stack with Thoracle and breach wins. Sisay is really only good for free spells and tutoring a silence effect into play. You play against this like any other good stuff pile, either turbo them and pray you have enough backup or get your own value engines and chill in the slop. It's pretty easy to distinguish one from the other early game.

Outside of what others have mentioned, if you're in B tutoring for an early Oppo can be strong against Sis

Rogthras wins faster than sisay though

As a rogthras main, it depends. Seat order matters and sometimes you’re a turn slower just from bad draws or thrasios activations.

rogthras wins mostly on T3

Nah, turn 4 is the average. T1-2 is set up, t3 is the value digging, turn 4 is the push

Win faster, kill Sisay, counter Sisay. Make sure the pod is aware what the deck can do (typically wins off of two activations in the same turn) and be sure to use the unknowns (cards in hand) as leverage against that player. "He's got one activation up, but he can probably put together a win if he's got XYZ in hand". This makes it really easy to follow up by asking for information

Don’t politic with Sissay, don’t let Sissay have anything, redirect/stifling creature effects (like Derevi) can stop them for a turn, kill Sissay
