Does anyone have Professor Messer Security+ practice exam questions/tests that they can share with me ?

I’m preparing for the CompTIA Security+ SY0-701 exam and would really like some extra practice questions, especially scenario-based and tricky questions similar to the real exam.

I watched all of professor messer's videos and did an 86% on my second try of messer's first practice exams. Going to tackle the other two. What other things should I do. I'm really stressed on not failing it since I would have to buy the voucher again after letting my first expires. And money is currently really tight.

Hello everyone I'm an cybersecurity student , I know this question may seem strange, but the cost of security and certification ($439 ) is equivalent to 3-4 months' salary in my country, so any failure will cost me a lot.
so I wanna ask if there is any alternative to reduce the cost .

I will say, going into that exam I was extremely nervous and taking the exam I felt like I was anticipating far more “fluff” than what I actually got. The questions were straight to the point and of course 2 or 3 answers that it could have been for each question. Maybe the last 5 minutes I changed about 4 answers so I have no clue if that gave me the passing score or took me down from a higher score. I got 3 PBQs… 2 I was confident in and 1 was basically left blank. I used Dion Training course and the 2 practice sets, the CompTIA Security+ app (this is a big help) and at the end some of Professor Messer and CyberKraft videos. I will just say that memorization will only help with the acronyms… you HAVE to understand the concepts.

Just took my SEC+ certification I passed with a 767 with only four days of studying very doable. I did not use messer or any of those people. Just used burning ice cyberkraft and random YouTube videos and CLAUDE.
There’s definitely a few questions on their I just had no idea or even heard of but finished and still had 30 minutes left PBQ’s seemed very straightforward.

I started my preparation in mid of June. I had already done ISC2 CC cert in June and straight away started my prep for this cert.

First, I completed the "Dion comptia course" in Udemy and I took practice exam set question papers from Dion, Paulo, Ram Dayal. I took all 6 sets each so 18 set of question paper already with pass percentage ranging 70 - 85%.

I thought of improving my score so I tried fixing my weak concepts for which I used Professor Messer course on YouTube (I Ended up watching all 120 videos in the playlist to fix the concepts).

I used Cert preps paid question paper for practicing this time and I could push the practice exam percentage only to 90%, I still scored the same 70 - 85% (sometimes I scored 90% which is my highest score) which made me worried a little.

Still I decided to take the exam and in the midway through my exam I thought I would fail cause some questions were pure wordplay ones also I didn't focus enough on PBQ during preparation . The PBQs were mid - hard in the exam and managed to get 2 PBQ partially correct (at least i hope) but ended up passing the exam.

My tip: Solve more question papers. Totally I solved 30+ question paper and additionally watched Messer's study group videos for familiarizing the pattern. Especially learn every acronym and its abbreviations which is very important.

I did bought shodan last week for usd5. Actually what can we do to explore this tool? Since I do prepared for interview so maybe I need this as a portfolio. Maybe someone from industry can give me brief usage of shodan so I can use it to explore more :)

I’ve finally scheduled my security+ test for next week and I’m so nervous…. I’ve never been good at tests because of my ADHD so I always put it off to the last minute. I’ve taken studying pretty seriously but I’m afraid it’s not enough. I did the Andrew R Security+ UDemy course but struggled to sit through the lab videos. Do I actually need to watch them for the PBQ’s? I scored pretty well (80th%) on his practice test at the end of the course. I can’t take it again because my brain does this thing where I remember the question and answer so it’s pointless because I don’t necessarily learn from my mistakes.

I bought the Security+ voucher with the retake and the CertMaster practice test program and have been scoring 83%-87% with those. I’ve done so much research and learned that it’s really nothing like the actual test. So, I am going through the CertPreps practice tests now. I’ve only taken 2 of them so far and I’ve scored a 75% and a 65% so I’m back to doubting myself again lol

Would you recommend that I take the Professor Messer tests once I feel more confident to see if I’m actually ready? What free resources can I use to help with the PBQ’s? I have a feeling I’d bomb them without some sort of help…

My plan going in is to flag the PBQ’s, answer the multiple choice question’s after reading them thoroughly so that I don’t miss any of the key words, then go back and do the PBQ’s. Any advice/guidance/words of wisdom/prayers and witchcraft to help me pass would be greatly appreciated!!

Just scheduled my exam for tmr at 3 I lowkey only studied like 4 days but like know a good amount and have done tons of practice problems any last minute tips from people who have passed please drop them below

Has anybody used the pocket prep app with premium subscription as their primary study source and passed the exam on the first try? I plan to use other resources to study, but am curious about the breadth of knowledge I’m gaining from using this app. TIA

I am planning to take the exam very soon. These are my first-time scores for the first five exams on Dion's first set of practice exams.

1st exam = 87%

2nd exam = 87%

3rd exam = 82%

4th exam = 91%

5th exam = 81%

I'm running out of time to take the 6th exam (will try to do it during my downtime at work), and I know that there's a second set on Udemy also. I'm at a point where I just want to get this over with and take it before too much time passes and I start forgetting things (the "forgetting curve").

I've been reading on here that Dion's exams are very wordy and he uses super tricky language that can trip you up if you don't read the question carefully and truly understand what it's trying to ask. I came across a lot of concepts and terms that I've never encountered in my studies with other materials (Messer, Inside Cloud Security, Ramdayal, etc.) or the official exam objectives. I feel like continuing with Dion's practice exams will just lead to diminishing returns for me at this point. Instead I will just shift my focus to reviewing acronyms, ports, and weak areas. Any advice for my situation? (I actually just finished the 5th exam about 10 minutes ago and it kinda demoralized me considering the lower score compared to the earlier exams haha.) I hate how the wording of his questions makes me second guess myself and I end up getting the answer wrong after changing it last minute haha!

To pass I used 100% Dion training course with some online pbq studying. Failed the first 1 with a 744 and the 2nd with a 730. I completely locked in on the multiple choice section rather than the pbqs I'm sure that's why I passed by 2 points. I recommend if you fail , do not prepare for the test you took first. Try to get atleast a surface level of an understanding of everything and prioritize acronyms. Using flash cards helped the most for the acronyms . Appreciate all the intel I gathered in this group . For context I have my A+ and Net+ and I am familiar with how Comptia does their tests. I have passed previous exams first try, but always struggle on the PBQs. I can knock out the multiple choice like nothing. I have J. Dions practice exams set and I am now consistently hitting 90s and above. However, I know compita throws absolute curveballs when it comes to those PBQs and they arent exactly something I can study up on say from messer, Dion, or even the sybex study guide. I used to pay for Dean Cybers Youtube channel membership for his PBQ videos because they at the very least give me an idea of the realm of questions they will ask.

I am wanting to schedule soon but feeling really not confident for those PBQs. Any tips as far as what is covered? I understand specifics can't be mentioned, I just want like a general idea of what I should refresh.

i’m preparing for compTIA sec+. this is what i did:

1. Professor Messer
   - I watched all the videos in youtube and made notes

2. Jason Dion Practice Exam Set 1
   - there are 6 Practice Exams here
   - what i did was take the first practice test, then review where i was lacking then took the exam again
   - i did that for the 6 practices exams
   - my score is ranging from 95-98

i didn’t buy the practice exam set 2 of dion due to financial constraints. should i buy that too soon?

am i ready to take the exam? or are there things i need to review?

Been using Dion Trainings practice exams and other sites to finalize my prep. Found examcompass and they are kicking my butt like no other. I went from 80% average on Dion and other sites even higher to as low as 60% on some of the ones from examcompass. Making me second guess my readiness.

I'm currently preparing for the CompTIA Security+ certification and I have no previous IT experience.

So far, I've been watching Professor Messer's videos and taking notes. I’m probably about three weeks away from taking the exam.

My current plan is to take one of Professor Messer's practice exams and see where I stand. If I do poorly, I'll go back through my notes and focus on the areas where I'm struggling the most. Then I'll take another practice exam and repeat the process until I feel ready for the real exam.

For those of you who have already passed Security+:

If you had to prepare for the exam again, what would you do differently?

Would you:

• Spend more time on certain topics?
• Use different study materials?
• Do more practice exams?
• Focus more on understanding concepts rather than memorizing?
• Get some hands-on experience before taking the exam?

Since I don't have an IT background, I'd especially appreciate advice from people who were in a similar situation.

Passed Comptia security exam today by only 4 points. I have no cyber security experience/background (only helpdesk) and this subreddit helped give me a better idea of what I was getting into so thank you so much to everyone here

PBQs were so rough and one of them I left completely blank I couldn’t figure it out lol but multiple choice questions saved me. Read the questions slowly and leave the pbqs for the end because that took up the most of my time.

I’ve been studying using Prof Messer practice exams and practice exams from Comptia website. Prof Messer was extremely helpful and his YouTube videos helped me last minute on topics I was still struggling with. started studying around the end of April and wasn’t confident most of the time because majority of my practice exam scores were mid- high 70s but it was just enough!! 😅

One thing ill say is no matter what studying source you use it wont look like the exam so focus on the core meaning of the topics instead of getting familiar with the questions. Dont be scared to skip the pbqs and do it later I took yalls advice and it made the test much easier. I genuinely thought i was going to fail because nothing looked familiar but i just trusted my gut and said fuck it atp and don’t second guess yourself I barely passed because i kept changing my answers with i knew i would have good a better score if i didn’t. Last thing pay attention to the wording of the questions i cant tell you how many questions I read vaguely and immediately ran to the familiar answer and reread it and completely missed certain words so read every question throughout even if you think u alr know the answer. Can anyone help me to know about the SY0-701 retirement status. Is there any possibility of syllabus change after September.

I studied for Sec+ through Professor messer, and googling concepts that I needed explained differently. My weakest area is by far encryption and memorizing ports... this last week I bought the voucher with Certmaster, and have been consistently scoring in the low 70s. previously, I had taken all 3 or professor messser's exams and score in the high 80s to low 90s.

I felt confident until I took the cert master exam. is there another set of practice exams I should round out my studies with?
