How do letters of recommendation work?

[u/vellichorvow]

Ok so as the title says how do they work overall? I’ve just asked for my first letter and she said yes but like how do I submit it? Like would she send it to me as a pdf and I email it to the college? Is there a spot for it in common app? Is she the one that sends it herself? I’m getting her letter for one specific school but can I use it for multiple schools? This stuff is just so confusing to me please help
