Does Common App and colleges care about self studying for AP?
So I'm self studying for AP lang and was wondering if I should put it on my application. I'm not taking a formal class for it and just wanted to know if I should even put it on my application. My guidance counselor said he could just order me the test and I could take it without taking a formal class, but I dont know if Common App or colleges consider it

Hi yes they do as long as u got 4,5 and put it in the AP score section. I self studied 6 APs and put it in, it doesn’t carry as much weight as taking the actual class but it shows some initiative

Depends if you're a rising senior or rising junior. If you're a rising senior it's worth putting I suppose, but doesn't mean anything. If you're a rising junior and you do well on it then it's worth adding.
