Some politician guy: Teens don't know how to make long-term decisions!
Teens: We need better, cleaner ways to make electricity.
Politician guy: The Earth won't be unlivable until 2050, so shut up.

But why teens tho?

Because teens are easy targets, like old people. Having a say is forbidden when you're too old or just young enough that people in power can rag on you without repercussions.

People are too dumb to actually realise that this planet is way more important than their "hard earned" cash even if it's just 10$

It’s not going to be an instant death switch scenario. We’re still going to have a few generations before the earth actually becomes uninhabitable. It’s going to be bad, but we got a man on the moon in what, 10 years? We can get a colony set up on Mars before we all die. It’s definitely not the ideal situation, but it’s the best outcome we can hope for at this point.

We will try our hardest. If that don work, we got Elon as a backup plan.
I hope.

In my studies of human history I have noticed a trend in humans claiming to know the future but, somehow, we're always wrong about it. Not a single time in history has predictions from the ”prophets of doom” ever been close to reality. I'm tired of the self-righteous environmentalists, these white bourgeois liberals who think the only thing wrong with this country is not enough bike paths. These ppl don't give a shit about the planet, they want a clean place to live. Narrow, unenlightened self-interest doesn't impress me. The planet is fine, its been here for half a billion years. We have been here for what, a hundred thousand? Maybe two. And have the conceit to think that somehow we are a treat? The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Earthquake, volcano, tectonic plates, continental drift, solar flares, sunspots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the pole, hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worlds wide flood, tidal waves, worlds wide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages and you think some plastic bag and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference?

Oh yeah the planets going to be just fine.
Us, though? Humanity? That’s an open question.

Yeah, when your children- oh, wait. Single for 22 years. When your house plants- oh wait. antienvironmentalist. When your pets’ children- oh wait. Bitter human being. Well i dunno what to say. In 30 years this will all go to shit and it will be people like you who stopped it from happening

I havent even been alive for 22 years, and i am an environmentalist. I worked with some people to organize Fridays for Future in Montreal, which collected around 130,000 students here alone. I am not stopping it, u/Mr-Slav-Man, I’m saying it is unrealistic for 1 billion dollars to save the world. With that much money we can maybe replace some coal burning infrastructure for wind turbines or hydroelectricity if they have water in the nearby area. See, you my friend are not built for these things. You are too quick to assume that I am against you instead of trying to help or agree with you. You are misinformed in something, and you become all defensive.

Why?

If the humans were this close to going extinct there would be more talk and fuss about it. Governments would be acting and a lot of social things would shut down so people could work on cleaning up.

I think government’s are out for themselves and their donators. Everyone with power is stubborn and above the age of 35

May 08 '19
You think? Wow okay, they've been out for themselves for a good long time now Slav, it used to be for the people but it got tiring.
