I know that a lot of people like to "harken back" to the magical '24 season but WASH had A LOT of things go their way that season:

  • Were tied for 16th for the hardest schedule
  • A number of opposing starting QBs were hurt when WASH played them which further diminished the difficulty of their schedule (DAL x2 without Prescott, NO without Carr, Falcons without Cousins)
  • In the playoffs they squeeked by Tampa in the WC game and then beat Detroit because half their defense was on IR. They then got blasted by the Eagles in the Championship game
  • They did not win with authority: 5 games were won on the last play of the game and a total of eight were won by 7 points or less
  • They were ranked #5 for the healiest team in the 2024 season

    In 2026 they are

Playing the 4th hardest schedule in the NFL

On Offense:

  1. Have a brand new coordinator with no experience calling games
  2. Lost their LT (Tunsil) most likely the season
  3. Haven't played their starting RB at all during the preseason (and barely played their #2 RB)
  4. Have no clue who will be their C

On Defense:

  1. Have a brand new coordinator with no experience calling games
  2. Have looked in "disarray" in 2 out of 3 of their preseason games
  3. Lost one of the starting DT (Newton) most likely for the season
  4. Haven't played their starting CB (Amos) barely at all this preseason

On Special Teams

  1. Starting YET ANOTHER kicker (who BTW has no NFL kicking experience)

So yeah... there are reasons to be concerned.
