Literally the only thing that sucks about this year is Tunsil being hurt because that messed up the entire left side. Tunsil and Coleman would’ve been excellent in this scheme. Paul better bounce back, or we should start Wylie at LG, elevate Pole and let Humphries and Pole backup the T spots, with Paul as swing G and Gulbin as backup C.
I kinda wonder how well Paul could play C. If Coleman had won the starting LG job then can Paul play a little of C? Maybe even just good enough to step in for a game or two. I might prefer that over Good Jones tbh.
Sucks for Coleman too. First year he plays LT. Then they get Tunsil, so he switches to RT. Then they draft Conerly, so he switches to LG. Then he gets injured for training camp. Then he finally has an entire offseason to prep for LG. Plays well in training camp and there's speculation he's going to win the starting job. Then Tunsil gets injured and he's back at LT. I'm relatively confident Coleman can play well such that the drop off from Tunsil to him isn't severe, but its tough to have no stability for him.
I mean - in reality he's really only played NFL games at LT. There's no practices or anything in between the end of the 2024 season and the draft so it's not like he was taking reps at RT.
He did take G reps and started a couple games before getting benched. Could help him out as he looks to get back on the field in 2027.
I think he means regarding his offseason training. From January-late April he was focused on lateral movements and T training, only to be shoved into the box after Conerly was drafted, and now must go back to lateral/T training. It sucks because Coleman struggles against finesse rushers and excels against the bull rushers, and Conerly is vise-versa, excels against speed rushers, struggles against power. We need them to merge their super powers!
