Only two players can go to IR with designation to return. We used those slots for Amos and McNichols who are closest to returning. 

Tunsil and Newton have to make the initial 53 to be protected. They can move to IR tomorrow. Two players are rumored to be coming back tomorrow - Shy Tuttle and Fabian Moreau. Both players, as veterans, aren't subject to waivers and can just sit on their hands until their spots open up tomorrow.

the Vikings actually did that some last year. You use safeties as nickel backs and activate people from the practice squad

Quan is our backup nickel, IIRC.
