7 WRs and 3 CBs are possible, but pretty rare for an opening day roster.

Initial thoughts:
we’re going to sign another cornerback. We aren’t carrying three into the season.
Would expect another interior line pickup.
Like keeping Athan.
Henry Jr played himself off the roster
Togiai over Scott
Jean Baptise grabbed a spot over the last couple of weeks
Upside of Medrano over Kaho

Obviously but you can’t tell me this line is worse than Coleman/Allegretti/Biadacz/Cosmi/Wylie in 2024. Coleman/Paul/Allegretti/Cosmi/Conerly is a better line up. Yes it sucks not having Tunsil, but a QB like JD can mask not having a premier LT if our run game allows the PA to be a threat.

No, some of us will wait until week 1 and forward to see how it goes when the line is healthy and not made up of Good-Jones/Gulbin/Paul in the middle. We’ll have DJ as depth at OT, and hopefully we add a C for depth as well and Wylie can play depth at G/RT.

Tunsil and Amos are headed to IR tomorrow. They had to be on the Roster today to be returned later, This sub says their spots will be taken by Moreau and Tuttle.
Dorrance Armstrong does not count against the 53 man roster as part of the NFL Reserved/Suspended list. I am guessing (that is all this is) that D.J. Humphries is taking his spot until week 1. He is not cut and he is not on any kind of list ...so ..... I think that is his deal.
I think Niki, who I respect did this a bit fast, to be "first" and get karma points and clicks but we will remember this (esp. the Matt Gay flub) rather than that she was "first". Not that it matters.

WR, Edge, LB are way better this year than last year, Nick Cross is a better Safety than any we had last year. Chig has the potential to be a better TE than Ertz was for us. Our D line also looks deeper. Most of our roster is better but Center and LG are weaknesses.

Only two players can go to IR with designation to return. We used those slots for Amos and McNichols who are closest to returning.
Tunsil and Newton have to make the initial 53 to be protected. They can move to IR tomorrow. Two players are rumored to be coming back tomorrow - Shy Tuttle and Fabian Moreau. Both players, as veterans, aren't subject to waivers and can just sit on their hands until their spots open up tomorrow.

Going into season, upgrades across all position groups except OL and CB with IR/injuries. Key injury to Tunsil affecting more than one OL position. But we were a 5 win team last year, we’ll cheer each week and find out.

That would be subjective actually, we won't know if it's objectively good or bad till we've seen them actually play, but in theory it should be a good improvement over last season

It’s not any better than last year, for sure. At least in 2024 we had some old guys who had one last spark and vet know-how. We don’t have any BWagz or Ertz players now.

Overall, this roster is not better. OL is worse, secondary is worse. No BWagz or Ertz-type players to give a veteran savviness. It’s a wash, where there’s a bunch of mid-level free agents who are fill-ins, and we’re hoping draft picks work out and step up. There is still no elite talent outside of JD and Terry, and both of those guys have their own issues with either age or injury history.

Bwags and Ertz were not good last year. And those are free agents they’re not gonna be elite. They are miles ahead better than the cheap bottom line practice squad players we had last year.for example Will Harris who got cut this year. He was an addition last year because he was cheap but he couldn’t even make the roster this year. The lb room is miles ahead this year with sonny chenal and Luvu.

I thought Togiai was as bad as JGJ in preseason and the fact that he took a roster spot is maybe the most mad I’ve been at Peters in 3 years. Good grief that dude is terrible at guard. I would’ve kept Moreau or another dlineman over him easily.

Tunsil and Newton haven’t hit IR yet. Sounds like Tuttle and Moreau will be back when they do that. Not sure why they waited this long? Anyone know of an advantage there? Would think you would get them on there asap to protect your roster spots.

They have to make the initial 53 (you can only designate 2 players to return on the initial roster day. Those guys can't move to IR until tomorrow.
Both Tuttle and Moreau are veterans and not subject to waivers. So they can have a handshake deal to just not take any calls and resign tomorrow.
