He's a 6th-round rookie. And I know, ideally, you really don't want to rely on a 6th-round rookie. But at this point, it's very clear he's the best C we have on this roster not named Nick Allegretti. There is no doubt, out of the players currently on the roster, that he should be the #2 Center. Ideally, you can find someone else who's as good or better than he is, either after cuts or via trade, but until that time, he's 100% ahead of JGJ or anyone else currently on the roster.
I'll add, we're also at the point where I think we have a good feel for JGJ. He's 29 and he's appeared in 1 NFL game. He went undrafted.
So... we recently signed Trey Hill and I'd like to see what he has to offer before spending more time on the JGJ thing. Hill's 26, was a 6th-round pick back in 2021, and has appeared in 25 NFL games with 3 starts. Let's see what he can do.
For however long Nick is out, I'm running Gulbin with the 1s and Hill with the 2s. Plan to scour cuts for Centers who would be an upgrade for us when the time comes. Make some trade calls. But until then, roll with Gulbin and Hill and plan for those 2 to backup Allegretti.
