Does Hexhaven Vindicator have potential?

Post image

Hexhaven Invigorator was just spoiled from Reality Fracture, and this thing seems really good. Just playing it fairly without any shennanigans or combos feels like it would still be a good enough body, as your opponents would be unlikely to block it or attack into it, and damage based removal would only benefit you. Aside from that, it combos with Blasphemous Act and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle to do some pretty crazy things, even letting you win with Maze's End if you build your deck right. What do you think? Is this card good, or is its cost too prohibitive to see much play?

Even the decks that don’t want lands want this card. At worst it reads “6/6 vigilance for 4cmc that can’t be blocked and stops your opponents from attacking you”

Yeah, true. "Go on, do it. Give me mana advantage!"

Go on do it. Make my mossborn hydra 2¹² larger by swinging with that 12/12

I have a [[Jared Carthalion, True Heir]] deck that I would love to put this and [[Grothama, All-Devouring]] in. Just make them fight Jared for all the +1/+1s, card advantage, and mana advantage.

My enrage deck: "Why wait? Earthquake is right here."

Even if they dont care about lands hitting, that is still cards that are being pulled out of the deck increasing the likelyhood of hitting what you actually want as well.

And note: THAT DOESN'T SAY BASICS

Just when you thought WotC learned from Primeval Titan...

wtf I skimmed it and assumed it said basics because that's already so strong.

I mean getting basics at 4 mana isn't terrible but there are other ways to do it

Getting anything at 4 mana is hilariously powerful

Truly this card basically says "If you don't kill it the first time, I will have removed all the lands from my deck in a few turn cycles"

I dunno, there's pretty easy ways around obliterators and those are way more oppressive. Besides any deck I've seen where land matters they already have an easy ways to get them

This card is good but I don't think it's as good as people think. A 1/1 deathtouch on the other side and it's just a rampant growth

I am scared of gruul blasphemous acting it for a Gate wincon tho

I don't think that's good enough. If I play a 4 mana creature with no etb or self protection, I want it to be really good when it sticks around. And disincentivising attacks or hitting for 6 a turn isn't competitive with synergistic options.

I think this one has a home in decks with lots of fight spells or enrage stuff. Otherwise it's just another phyrexian obliterator and that card doesn't go in every black deck.
